Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the transmitter with a simple switching system making switching without need of transmission/reception of a monitor alarm bit. CONSTITUTION:When a fault is detected by a transmission circuit signal is switched from the active circuit being the transmission circuit 5 to a standby circuit being a transmission circuit 6 and the transmission output in the transmission circuit 5 is stopped. Thus, an opposite transmission circuit 1 detects a fault (interruption of an input signal) and the signal is selected from the active circuit being the transmission circuit 1 into a standby circuit being a transmission circuit 2. As a result, since the changeover to a standby circuit is attained by using fault information only of its own transmitter, the changeover device is executed simply and surely without the need of transmission/reception of a monitor alarm bit.

2. Description of the Related Art In a conventional transmission apparatus having a backup transmission line and a backup transmission apparatus, when a failure occurs, the transmission apparatus that has detected the failure switches to the backup side and the opposite transmission apparatus receives a main signal. The monitor alarm bit is added to and transmitted. As a result, the opposing transmission device switches to the protection side according to the failure information of this monitoring alarm bit. As a conventional switching method, for example, "2 of Information Communication Network System (issued by the Telecommunications Association of 1989)"

When a failure occurs, the transmission device that has detected the failure switches to the spare side using the failure information of its own device. At the same time, by stopping the output on the transmitting side, a failure (input signal loss) is detected at the opposite transmission device, so the opposite transmission device is also switched to the standby side with the failure information (input signal loss) of its own device. In FIG. 1, the transmission circuit 1 is on the operating side, the transmission circuit 2 is on the standby side, and the transmission circuit 5 is on the transmission circuit 1 side.
The transmission circuit 6 is the backup side facing the transmission circuit 2 on the working side.

The operation of the transmission device shown in FIG. 1 will be described. Under normal operating conditions, which transmission circuit 1, 2, 5,
Since no fault alarm is detected in 6 as well, the switching control circuit 4 controls the selection circuit 3 to select the signal of the transmission circuit 1, and the switching control circuit 8 selects the signal of the transmission circuit 5 by the selection circuit 7. To control. In this state, for example, when a failure is detected by the alarm detection circuit 11 in the transmission circuit 5, the switching control circuit 8 controls the selection circuit 7 by the alarm signal from the alarm detection circuit 11 to select the signal.
And the transmission circuit 9 in the transmission circuit 5 stops the transmission output by the alarm signal from the alarm detection circuit 11. Therefore, the transmission circuit 1 facing the transmission circuit 5 has an input signal disconnection, and the alarm detection circuit 11 in the transmission circuit 1 detects a failure (input signal disconnection). The alarm circuit 11 controls the selection circuit 3 to switch the signal selection from the operating side of the transmission circuit 1 to the backup side of the transmission circuit 2.

According to the present invention, since it is possible to switch to the spare side only by the fault information of the own device, it is possible to switch without sending and receiving the monitoring alarm bit and without the need for sending and extracting the monitoring alarm bit. The effect is simple and reliable.
