2. Description of the Related Art As an uninterruptible power supply, there is a versatile one for converting an AC power supply into a DC power, and further converting the AC power to send out AC power, but the device becomes complicated and the conversion loss becomes large. The uninterruptible power supply having a simple device configuration and a small conversion loss is as shown in FIG. 2, and the AC input is DC-converted in the AC-DC converter 1 and output as DC power. In addition, an uninterruptible power supply device in which a DC-DC converter is connected in series to an AC-DC converter is also used to cope with diversification of DC loads. The secondary battery 8 is used as this standby power source, and is connected in parallel to the DC output terminal via the diode 4 and the resistor 5 which are connected in parallel. When the AC power source fails, the secondary battery 8 is discharged. Back up by.

Secondary batteries have been used for various purposes in various fields, and although their small size and large capacity, sealing, and improvement of charging / discharging characteristics are remarkable, they still have other problems. There are many problems to be solved as compared with the power supply circuit element. That is, the life of the secondary battery is shorter than that of other electric components, and the weight and size of the secondary battery are large. In addition, if the power failure is long, the battery is over-discharged and its life is shortened. Therefore, a device for disconnecting the secondary battery from the load is required, and the uninterruptible power supply device is complicated. Furthermore, many of the internal substances that make up the secondary battery are harmful and may adversely affect the environment. The present invention has been made to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks of the secondary battery, and an object thereof is to provide an uninterruptible power supply device using a large-capacity electric double layer capacitor instead of the secondary battery. It is a thing.

When the AC power input to the uninterruptible power supply fails, the output of the AC-DC converter 1 also becomes zero, and the electric double layer capacitor 2 automatically starts discharging. At this time,
The voltage detection circuit 6 detects an abnormal decrease in the output voltage of the AC-DC converter 1 and sends a detection signal to the control circuit 7. When the discharge voltage of the electric double layer capacitor 2 decreases, the control circuit 7 controls the DC-DC converter 3 to keep the discharge voltage of the electric double layer capacitor 2 constant.

As described above, in the uninterruptible power supply device according to the present invention, the uninterruptible power supply device composed of the AC-DC converter and the DC-DC converter (step-up chopper) is used instead of the secondary battery. It has a multi-layer capacitor installed. The life of the electric double layer capacitor is almost the same as the life of other power source component parts, requires no maintenance, and the output voltage can be kept constant by the boost chopper. Further, since the life is not shortened by over-discharging, the control for disconnecting the load is unnecessary, and there is no fear of environmental pollution because the constituent elements do not contain harmful substances. Therefore, it is possible to realize an uninterruptible power supply device that is easy to maintain and economical.
