Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the heat loss at the time of a switchover by providing as a means of switching over between cold and hot water a control mechanism for effecting the switchover to any of the set modes of cold-water flow, hot-water flow, and flow suspension so as to use one heat exchanger for air for both cold water and hot water in common. CONSTITUTION:In the mode of hot-water flow, hot water flows from a supply line 11, through a three-way valve 8, into a heat exchanger 2 for air, through a three-way valve 9, and into a line 16. The warmed air is sent indoors by a fan 3 to raise the temperature. A thermometric instrument 6 senses the temperature and a control device 5 controls the valve 7 to bring the temperature to a specified point. When the temperature rises so rapidly as not to allow the control, a switchover to the flow suspension mode is effected. The hot water in the heat exchanger 2 then circulates through lines 14, 21, 13 and is cooled by the air passing through the heat exchanger to a temperature close to the room temperature. The temperature of the warm water is measured by a thermometric instrument 6' and a switchover to the cold-water flow mode is effected. Cold water then flows from a cold-water supply line 17, through the three-way valve 8, into the heat exchanger 2 for air, through the three-way valve 9, and into a line 20. The cooled air is sent indoors by the fan 3 to lower the temperature.

In order to deal with the above-mentioned problems, if the air heat exchanger is shared for cold water and hot water, there is a drawback that the water remaining in the air heat exchanger becomes a load. That is, when switching from cold water to hot water, the remaining cold water enters the hot water side, creating a hot water load. Furthermore, when switching from hot water to cold water, the remaining hot water enters the cold water side and becomes a cold water load.

Further, in the present invention, in the operation of the air conditioner,
A method of operating an air conditioner, characterized in that when switching the flow mode, the flow mode is first set to a flow stop mode based on an air temperature signal, and then, after a flow permission condition is satisfied, the flow mode is switched to a flow mode opposite to that before the stop mode. In the above method of operating an air conditioner, the flow permission condition is the water temperature (chilled water or hot water temperature) in the air heat exchanger section, and when switching from cold water flow mode to hot water flow mode,
Switching is performed after the water temperature rises to a predetermined temperature, and when switching from hot water flow mode to cold water flow mode, the switch is performed after the water temperature has fallen to a predetermined temperature.

The air temperature is usually controlled by detecting the air temperature or room temperature and adjusting the flow rate of cold and hot water to the air heat exchanger. When the temperature deviates from the set temperature by a predetermined value, first, the cold/hot water switching device stops the supply of cold/hot water, and heat exchange is performed between the water and air in the air heat exchanger. It detects that the water temperature is close to the air temperature (or operates for a predetermined period of time to change it to close to the air temperature), and switches the switching device to the opposite flow mode. However, if the air temperature changes while it is stopped and it is necessary to return it to its original state, there is no problem in returning it to its original state.

In this way, at the time of switching, the supply of cold water or hot water is stopped, and the water remaining in the air heat exchanger is heat-recovered to a temperature close to that of the air. By allowing this heat exchange time,
Frequent switching between heating and cooling can also be prevented.

In addition, if the piping between the cold/hot water switching device and the air heat exchanger is long and the amount of water in the piping is large, install a valve between the pipe leading to the air heat exchanger inlet and the pipe leading to the outlet. A connecting pipe is provided, and while the cold and hot water supply is stopped, the valve is opened to close the pipe including the air heat exchanger,
Circulation by natural convection allows the water temperature in the pipes to approach the air temperature. In order to reliably change the temperature inside the pipe, a circulation pump may be provided in the above-mentioned connecting pipe section to perform forced circulation when the supply of cold and hot water is stopped.
