Compact discs (hereinafter referred to as CDs) and their players are well known, for example, from "Compact Disc Reader" published by Ohmsha and written by Heitaro Nakajima. A CD player converts a digital signal into an analog signal and outputs it, so if a tape recorder is connected to the CD player, the contents of the CD can be recorded in analog on magnetic tape.

By the way, when transferring the recorded contents of a CD to a magnetic tape, turn the tape recorder forward (forward direction).
It may not be possible to transfer all of the contents of a CD to magnetic tape simply by running it. in this case,
If the tape recorder is configured with an auto-reverse system, it is possible to record the contents of a CD while running in reverse (reverse direction). However, reversing the running direction of the magnetic tape and switching the position or connection of the recording head cannot be accomplished instantaneously, and switching time is required. Therefore, a recording loss (sound dropout) corresponding to the switching time occurs.

The reverse play state is set in response to the detection of the end of forward driving. More specifically, the first capstan 18 and the first pinch roller 20 are used for forward running of the tape 17, and the second capstan 18 and second pinch roller 21 are used for reverse running. Therefore, the switching device 29 causes the first pinch roller 20 to roll into contact with the first capstan 18 during forward running, and causes the second pinch roller 20 to contact the first capstan 18.
1 is separated from the second capstan 18. When traveling in reverse, the second pinch roller 21
is brought into rolling contact with the second capstan 18, and the first pinch roller 20 is separated from the first capstan 18. This auto-reverse switching device 29 further rotates the magnetic head 27 to switch recording tracks. That is, the position of the magnetic head 27 is changed from the first and second forward tracks to the third and fourth reverse tracks in stereo recording and reproduction. Instead of rotating the magnetic head 27, it is also possible to adopt a method in which the magnetic head 27 is moved up and down, or a method in which four channels of magnetic heads are arranged corresponding to four tracks and the heads are switched using an electric circuit. .

When the user wants to transfer the recorded contents of No. 2 to the tape 17, the dubbing operation button provided on the operation section 34 is operated. This turns on the switch 28,
The CD player 1 and the tape recorder are electrically connected, and furthermore, the CD player 1 is in a play state, and the tape recorder is in a forward recording state. As a result, the digital signal read from the CD 2 is converted into an analog signal and recorded on the tape 17 by the magnetic head 27, producing a forward recording track. Thereafter, even though the playback of the CD 2 has not yet been completed, when the forward running recording area of the tape 17 reaches the end, the end of the optically transparent tape (leader tape) is located at the sensor 30, and the tape 17 is moved forward. The detection output shown in Figure 2A is generated. The leading edge of the detection output in FIG. 2A corresponds to the boundary between the magnetic tape and the leader tape. Figure 2A

When this signal is generated, the auto-reverse switching device 29 is activated and the CD player 1 is brought into a paused state. As a result, the tape 17 runs slightly forward at the leader tape portion, and then
Start driving in reverse. On the other hand, in the CD player 1, the scanning position by the beam is substantially fixed because the CD player 1 is controlled to be temporarily stopped. tape 17
When the tape starts running in reverse, the leader tape section immediately ends and becomes the magnetic tape section. As a result, the reverse recording start signal (switching completion signal) shown in FIG. enters the play state, beam scanning of the next track following the beam scanning position at the start of the pause state starts, and a reproduced audio signal is recorded on the tape 17 running in reverse.
