Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain a night vision television camera without picture distortion by providing a distortion correction means having a grating stripe pattern generator, a half mirror and a picture processing unit. CONSTITUTION:A half mirror 15 inputting a grating stripe pattern generated from a grating stripe pattern generator 14 is arranged between an object optical system 2 and a fiber 6 and a TV camera 13 connects to a picture processing unit 16. A picture picked up by the TV camera 13 is compared with a picture without distortion stored in advance in the unit 16 to calculate a correction of distortion of an image tube 3. When a series of operation is finished, the grating stripe pattern generator 14 is inactive to pick up an object 1. The light from the object 1 is inputted to the TV camera 13 via an object optical system 2, an image tube 3 and an image forming lens 12 and its output enters the picture processing unit 16. Thus, the picture processing unit 16 applies distortion correction to the input picture signal and an output picture signal without distortion is obtained from the picture processing unit 16.

FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing an embodiment of a night vision television camera according to the present invention, and the same parts as in the previous figures are given the same reference numerals. In the figure, between the objective optical system 2 and the fiber 6, there is a half-circuit 15 into which a checkered pattern generated by a checkered pattern generator 14 is inputted.

In such a configuration, when the night vision television camera is operated, a pattern image from the checkered pattern generator 14 is formed on the surface of the fiber 6 via the half mirror 15. This optical image 4 passes through a fiber 6 and reaches the photocathode 5 . Electrons fly out from the photocathode 5, are multiplied by microchannel play (7), collide with the fluorescent screen 8, and are converted into light. The image is transmitted through the fiber 10 and becomes an output image 11 on the fiber surface 9. Hail! This optically amplified image 11 is captured by a TV camera 13 via an imaging optical system 12. This image is compared with an undistorted image stored in advance in the image processor 16, and the amount of correction for the distortion of the image tube 3 is calculated. When the series of operations described above is completed, the checkered pattern generator 14 becomes inactive and images the target object 1. The light from the target object 1 is transmitted through an objective optical system 2° and an image tube 3. TV via the imaging lens 12
The image is input to the camera 13, and its output is input to the image processor 16. In the image processor 16, distortion correction is performed on the input image signal, and an output image signal without distortion is obtained from the image processor 16.

As explained above, according to the present invention, by providing the checkered pattern generator, the half mirror, and the image processor, the distortion of the output image generated in the fiber of the image tube is corrected, and the image becomes dark without image distortion. An extremely excellent effect can be obtained in that a visual television camera can be realized.
