Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a sufficient light shielding performance and contrive the improvement of shock resistance and humidity proofness with a simple packaging by a method wherein a packaging container supports at least four faces of the six faces of a process cartridge (PC) partly or almost wholly with its inner surface and a foaming plastic sheet and an aluminum-metallized PET film are laminated into a packaging sheet. CONSTITUTION:A packaging container 2 has a shape similar to the exterior structure of PC1 and, of six outer faces of the PC, at least the four outer faces are so shaped as to make close contact with the inner surface of the container 2. The container 2 is packaged with a laminated sheet 4 composed of a foaming plastic sheet 5 and a PET film 7 metallized with aluminum 6. This provides a package sufficient in cushioning force and excellent in moisture proofness and light shielding performance and permits the package to be wrapped inexpensively due to the ability to reduce the places requiring to be fastened with seal tapes upon packaging.

In the case of this method, since the electrophotographic photoreceptor is a simple cylindrical body, sufficient light-shielding properties, impact resistance, and moisture-proofing properties can be obtained by using the above-mentioned laminated sheet.
If it has a complicated shape like C, there are concerns about impact resistance.

Foamed plastic sheet 5 used for this laminated sheet 4
For example, foamed PE sheets, foamed PP sheets, foamed polyurethane sheets, etc. can be used, and soft foamed PE sheet 1 is preferable from the viewpoints of ease of use, strength, cushioning properties, cost, etc. The thickness of these foam sheets 5 is preferably about 2 to 5 mm, although it depends on the expansion ratio. If it is too thin, the cushioning properties will be insufficient, while if it is too thick, the volume will become unnecessarily large, and it is also unfavorable in terms of cost.

The container 2 may be wrapped in any method using the packaging sheet 4. For example, as shown in the second figure, the container 2 is placed between two packaging sheets 4, 4°, A method of heat-sealing the periphery of two packaging sheets 4.4 degrees may be used, or
A preferred method is to prepare a bag in which the container 2 can be stored from the packaging sheets 1 and 4, place the container 2 therein, and heat-seal the opening in the same manner. At this time, heat fusion may be performed between the PET surfaces, between the foamed plastic surfaces, or between the PET surface and the foamed plastic surface.

Further, in order to facilitate heat sealing, it is preferable to form a heat seal 9 such as a PE layer on the outside of the PET film or the foamed plastic sheet. Furthermore, during heat fusion, it is preferable to melt the foamed plastic sheet to eliminate its bubbles, since this further improves the moisture-proofing properties and light-shielding properties of the package.
