したり塗布したりすることによって形成していたので、
螢光体膜が白色不透明となり、発光セルの内側で発光し
た螢光体の光が外部に効率良く伝達されず,発光効率が
悪くなるという問題点があった.また、ペーストの印刷
や塗布によって螢光体膜を形成していたので、前面ガラ
ス板の螢光体膜形成部が平面形状のときは良いが、カラ
ークロストーク防止用の障壁や発光効率を上げるための
凹部が形成されている場合のように,螢光体膜形成部が
凹凸面形状のときは一定厚さの螢光体膜を形成すること
が困難であるという問題点があった。本発明は上述の問
題点に鑑みなされたもので、発光セルの内側で発光した
螢光体の光を外部に効率良く伝達することのできるカラ
ー表示用PDPの螢光体膜を提供すること,および螢光
体膜形成部が凹凸面形状のときにも一定厚さの透明な螢
光体膜を形成することができるカラー表示用PDPの螢
光体膜形成方法を提供することを目的とするものである

・・・は発光効率を上げるためなどに形成され、R.G
.B用の発光セル群に対応するものである。まず、第1
図(a)に示すように、前記前面ガラス板1の表面にホ
トレジストを塗布することによってレジストN6を形成
する。ついで、所定パターンのマスク7を設け、前記前
面ガラス板1のR.G.B用の螢光体膜用凹部2,3、
4、・・・のうちのR用の螢光体膜用凹部2、・・・の
表面に対応したレジスト層6をホトエッチングで除去す
ることによって、第1図(b)のようになる。ついで、
真空蒸着またはスパッタリングによって、第1図(c)
のように、R用の螢光体膜用凹部2,・・・の表面にR
用の透明な螢光体膜12を固着形成する。ついで、残り
のレジスト層6を除去することによって第1図(d)の

よって透明な螢光体膜を形成するようにしてもよい。例
えば、第3図に示すように、基板ガラス板1a上にリフ
ロー性ガラスからなる低融点ガラス層1bを固着するこ
とによって前面ガラス板1を形成し、低融点ガラスM1
bを加熱してプレス加工を施すことによって螢光体膜形
成部としてのR,G.B用の螢光体膜用凹部2a.3a
、4a、・・・を形成し,これらの螢光体膜用凹部2a
