Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically obtain the optimum printed image, by decoding the discrimination display data inherent to recording paper to decode the same while judging the kind of the mounted recording paper and selecting printing control data on the basis of the recording paper kind judge data to store the same and recording a printed image at the optimum density according to the printing control data. CONSTITUTION:When roll type recording paper 7 having a bar code 8 applied thereto is mounted, the bar code inherent to the recording paper is optically read by a bar code reading means 2 and the detection signal sent from the means 2 is decoded by a recording paper judge means 3 to judge the kind of the mounted recording paper. A printing control means 5 selects the printing control data concerned from the printing control data stored in an internal printing control data part 4 on the basis of the recording paper kind judge data to store the same. A printed image can be recorded on the recording paper 7 at the optimum density by the head of a recording means 6 controlled according to the printing control data stored in the printing control part 5.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) Conventional facsimile machines cannot obtain print images with optimal density because the density becomes lighter or darker when the characteristics of the recording paper differ, and it is difficult to record internal print control information. This has the problem of having to be changed for each paper.

(Function) The present invention detects and decodes the identification display information unique to each type of recording paper applied to each type of recording paper, determines the type of recording paper currently loaded, and uses the information to identify the type of recording paper. Based on this, the corresponding print control information is selected and stored from among the print control information prepared for each type of recording paper, and the print image is printed at the optimal density according to the stored print control information. Since the image is recorded, the optimum print image can be obtained automatically.

Next, the operation of this embodiment will be explained based on the drawings. First, the recording paper used in the facsimile machine of the present invention is provided with one or more barcodes along its longitudinal direction on the back side of the recording paper so that it can be sorted. It is assumed that an identification mark, which is identification display information, is provided at the tip or at a predetermined location, such as by providing a hole with a different position and size depending on the type. First, a roll of recording paper with a barcode 8 as shown in Figure 2 = 5
- 7 is attached, the barcode reading means 2 as shown in FIG. 1 optically reads the above-mentioned barcode unique to each type of recording paper applied to each type of recording paper. Then, the detection signal sent from the sensor means 2 is decoded by the recording paper discriminating means 3 to determine the type of recording paper currently loaded. Then, based on the recording paper type discrimination information sent from the recording paper discrimination means 3, the print control means 5 generates print control information prepared for each type of recording paper stored in the internal print control information section 4. The relevant print control information is selected from among the information and stored. Here, the print control information is assumed to be a table that maps the print speed (line/m5ec) and the pulse width of the signal to be applied to the recording head (not shown) for each type of recording paper. is memorized. By doing this, even when receiving a facsimile image signal, copying, and requesting journal output, the recording means 6 is controlled in accordance with the print control information stored in the print control section 5. A print image can be recorded on the recording paper 7 (FIG. 2) with the optimum density by the recording head.

According to this embodiment, since the type of recording paper can be automatically determined by providing identification marks such as barcodes and perforated holes on the recording paper, the type of recording paper loaded can be changed even if the type of recording paper is changed. Even so, there is no need to manually change the settings of internal print control information.

In this embodiment, a case has been described in which barcode reading means is used as the sensor means, but the present invention is not limited to this. That is, for recording paper having perforations, it is also possible to use a mechanical perforation detection means using an optical filter, a micro switch, etc. as the sensor means.
