或る態様では、本流量制御システムは、少なくとも1つの側方流分析テスト・ストリップの入った使い捨てカートリッジ内に配置されている。使い捨てカートリッジは、再使用可能な流体検体試験計の中に入っており、計器が、側方流分析テスト・ストリップ内で実施される分析反応の結果を読み取るようになっている。
流体サンプルは、先ず、上部の穴44を通り、サンプルパッド部分32A上に受け取られる。流体サンプルは、先ずサンプルパッド部分32Aに亘って広がり、A線に達する。更にチャンバ41を満たすと、流体サンプルは、B線に達し、次にC線に達する(図4のチャンバ41を満たすか、部分的に満たす)。先に述べたように、ピンチ壁45Bは、その下の流体サンプルの運動を部分的にしか抑制しない。その結果、流体は、ピンチ壁部45Bの下を浸出し始める。更にその結果、流体は、テスト・ストリップ34を横切る前端部が概ね平坦な状態で、テスト・ストリップ34に入る。具体的には、流体は、各テスト・ストリップ34の中間部に入るのと同時に、テスト・ストリップ34の左及び右の縁部に入る傾向がある。これによって、サンプルパッド32からテスト・ストリップ34上への、略一様な流れが実現される。その後、流体は、一様にテスト・ストリップ34を通って進み、成功裏にD線に達し、その後E線に達する。このとき、一対のテスト・ストリップ34の、流体サンプルと、テスト・ストリップに事前に埋め込まれたか又は被覆された試薬との間で並発反応が起こる。このとき、テスト・ストリップ34は、十分に浸されている(ピンチ壁45Bの下を通って連続して滲み出してきて、サンプルパッド部分32Bを十分に浸した状態に維持し、流体をテスト・ストリップ34に供給する)。
Claims (11)
- サンプル受け入れパッドとテスト・ストリップの間の流体の流れの運動を制御するためのピンチ壁システムにおいて、
サンプル受け入れパッドと、
前記サンプル受け入れパッドと接触しているテスト・ストリップと、
前記サンプル受け入れパッドを圧縮するピンチ壁であって、前記ピンチ壁の第1部分が前記テスト・ストリップに隣接して配置されている前記サンプル受け入れパッドの部分を圧縮し前記ピンチ壁の第2部分が前記テスト・ストリップから遠くに配置されている前記サンプル受け入れパッドの部分を圧縮して前記サンプル受け入れパッドのサンプル受け入れ部分を構成する、ピンチ壁とを備えており、
前記ピンチ壁の前記第1部分が、前記ピンチ壁の前記第2部分よりも小さい程度で前記サンプル受け入れパッドを圧縮する、システム。 - 前記ピンチ壁の前記第1及び第2部分は、前記サンプル受け入れパッドの前記サンプル受け入れ部を一体に連続して囲んでいる、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記ピンチ壁は、前記サンプル受け入れパッド上に受け入れられた流体が、前記サンプル受け入れパッドの前記サンプル受け入れ部から、前記テスト・ストリップに隣接して配置されている前記サンプル受け入れパッドの前記部分に優先して流れ、前記サンプル受け入れパッドの前記サンプル受け入れ部から、前記テスト・ストリップから遠くに配置されている前記サンプル受け入れパッドの前記部分にはそれほど流れないように、前記サンプル受け入れパッドを圧縮する、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記ピンチ壁の前記第1部分は、前記サンプル受け入れパッドの高さの60から90%を圧縮し、前記ピンチ壁の前記第2部分は、前記サンプル受け入れパッドの高さの2から30%を圧縮する、請求項1に記載のシステム。
