また、請求項2の発明は、請求項1の光走査装置において、全ての受光手段について、上記受光面の走査方向における上記入射角度を垂直に設定したことを特徴とするものである。
また、請求項3の発明は、請求項2の光走査装置であって、全ての上記受光手段について、上記受光面上で上記走査線に直交する走査直交線に対する上記走査ビームの入射角度を垂直に設定したことを特徴とするものである。
また、請求項4の発明は、請求項2又は3の光走査装置において、全ての上記受光手段に対し、それぞれ上記走査ビームを上記被走査体の走査線上で得られる最小ビームスポット径と同じビームスポット径で照射するように、各走査ビームについてそれぞれ、上記光ビーム発射手段から上記受光手段に至るまでの走査ビームの光路長を、該光ビーム発射手段から記被走査体の表面上における該最小ビームスポット径が得られる走査位置に至るまでの該走査ビームの光路長とを等しくしたことを特徴とするものである。
また、請求項5の発明は、請求項1の光走査装置において、上記受光前集光レンズとして、上記走査方向と直交する面方向にのみ集光性を発揮するものを用いたことを特徴とするものである。
また、請求項6の発明は、請求項1又は5の光走査装置において、1つの上記受光手段によって受光される複数の上記走査ビームについて、上記光ビーム発射手段から該受光手段に至るまでに経由させる反射ミラーの数を互いに同じにしたことを特徴とするものである。
また、請求項7の発明は、複数の感光体と、これら感光体をそれぞれ個別に光走査してその表面に潜像を形成する光走査手段と、各感光体に形成された潜像をそれぞれ個別に現像する複数の現像手段と、現像によって各感光体上で得られた可視像をそれぞれ転写体に重ね合わせて転写する転写手段とを備える画像形成装置において、上記光走査手段として、請求項1乃至6の何れかの光走査装置を用いたことを特徴とするものである。
まず、本プリンタの基本的な構成について説明する。図1は、本プリンタを示す概略構成図である。同図において、このプリンタは、イエロー,シアン,マゼンタ,ブラック(以下、Y,C,M,Kと記す)のそれぞれの色に対応するプロセスカートリッジ1Y,C,M,Kと、現像装置20Y,C,M,Kとを備えている。4つのプロセスカートリッジ1Y,C,M,Kや、4つの現像装置20Y,C,M,Kは、画像形成物質として互いに異なる色のトナー(Y,C,M,Kトナー)を用いるが、それ以外は同様の構成になっており、それぞれ寿命到達時に交換される。Yトナーを用いるY用のプロセスカートリッジ1Yを例にすると、これはに示すように、ドラム状の感光体2Y、ドラムクリーニング装置3Y、除電ランプ(不図示)、帯電装置10Yなどを有している。また、Yトナーを用いるY用の現像装置20Yを例にすると、これはケーシング21Y、現像スリーブ22Y、マグネットローラ23Y、第1搬送スクリュウ24Y、第2搬送スクリュウ25Y、トナー濃度センサ26Yなどを有している。
本プリンタの光走査装置100は、これまで説明してきたように、受光手段たる受光センサとして、KM用左受光センサ112と、KM用右受光センサ115とをK用光学系及びM用光学系に有している。また、図中の符号を省略しているが、YC用左受光センサと、YC用右受光センサとをY用光学系及びC用光学系に有している。よって、合計で4つの受光センサを有している。本プリンタでは、これら4つの受光センサにおいて、その受光面上で走査方向に延びる走査線に対する走査ビームの入射角(以下、対走査線入射角θ1という)を互いに同じにするように設定している。このように設定することで、各受光センサで対走査線入射角θ1を異ならせてしまうことによる同期信号の検知タイミングのずれを解消して、転写体たる転写紙P上における各色トナー像の重ね合わせずれを従来よりも抑えることができる。
この変形例装置では、4つの受光センサのそれぞれについて、受光前集光レンズを設けていない。かかる構成では、図12に示すように、それぞれの受光センサにおいて、受光面に対して、センサを共用する2つのレーザービームを互いに走査直交方向の比較的離れた位置に入射させることになるので、センサを走査直交方向に大型化しなければならない。但し、このようなデメリットがある反面、次のようなメリットがある。即ち、2つのレーザービーム(2つのマルチビーム)を受光センサの直前で走査直交方向に集光せしめないことにより、それぞれ走査直交方向に対するビームの入射角(以下、対走査直交線入射角θ2という)を垂直に設定することができる。これにより、受光センサに対する走査直交方向における光感受量を最も高めることで、受光センサとして応答性の比較的低い安価なものを用いても、入射したレーザービームをいち早く検知させることが可能になる。

Claims (7)
- 複数の光ビーム発射手段と、これら光ビーム発射手段から発せられた光ビームをそれぞれ個別に偏向せしめながら、それぞれ異なる被走査体の表面に走査する偏向手段と、該偏向手段によってそれぞれ偏向せしめられた後の各走査ビームを偏向方向の所定位置で受光する複数の受光手段とを備える光走査装置であって、
上記受光手段の受光面上で走査方向に延びる走査線に対する上記走査ビームの入射角度を、全ての上記受光手段で互いに同じに設定し、
1つの上記受光手段に対し、互いに異なる光ビーム発射手段から発せられた2以上の上記光走査ビームを受光させるようにし、
且つ、1つの上記受光手段によって受光される複数の上記走査ビームを、それぞれ単一の受光前集光レンズによって走査方向と直交する面方向に集光せしめながら該受光手段に到達させるようにしたことを特徴とする光走査装置。 - 請求項1の光走査装置において、
全ての受光手段について、上記受光面の走査方向における上記入射角度を垂直に設定したことを特徴とする光走査装置。 - 請求項2の光走査装置であって、
全ての上記受光手段について、上記受光面上で上記走査線に直交する走査直交線に対する上記走査ビームの入射角度を垂直に設定したことを特徴とする光走査装置。 - 請求項2又は3の光走査装置において、
全ての上記受光手段に対し、それぞれ上記走査ビームを上記被走査体の走査線上で得られる最小ビームスポット径と同じビームスポット径で照射するように、各走査ビームについてそれぞれ、上記光ビーム発射手段から上記受光手段に至るまでの走査ビームの光路長を、該光ビーム発射手段から記被走査体の表面上における該最小ビームスポット径が得られる走査位置に至るまでの該走査ビームの光路長とを等しくしたことを特徴とする光走査装置。 - 請求項1の光走査装置において、
上記受光前集光レンズとして、上記走査方向と直交する面方向にのみ集光性を発揮するものを用いたことを特徴とする光走査装置。 - 請求項1又は5の光走査装置において、
1つの上記受光手段によって受光される複数の上記走査ビームについて、上記光ビーム発射手段から該受光手段に至るまでに経由させる反射ミラーの数を互いに同じにしたことを特徴とする光走査装置。 - 複数の感光体と、これら感光体をそれぞれ個別に光走査してその表面に潜像を形成する光走査手段と、各感光体に形成された潜像をそれぞれ個別に現像する複数の現像手段と、現像によって各感光体上で得られた可視像をそれぞれ転写体に重ね合わせて転写する転写手段とを備える画像形成装置において、
上記光走査手段として、請求項1乃至6の何れかの光走査装置を用いたことを特徴とする画像形成装置。
