・切削油:水溶性切削油剤
・機械:横型マシニングセンタ
図1は、本発明の一実施例であるねじ切りカッタ10を示す正面図で、このねじ切りカッタ10は、マシニングセンタ等の主軸に把持されるシャンク12と、一対の切れ刃16が設けられた刃部18とを、軸方向に一体に備えている。刃部18の外周部には、形成すべきめねじ30(図2参照)のねじ溝に対応する断面形状のリードの無い凸条20が軸方向にめねじ30と同じピッチで多数設けられており、その凸条20を分断するように一対のねじれ溝22が形成されることにより、そのねじれ溝22に沿って切れ刃16が設けられている。本発明のねじ切りカッタ10は、シャンク12側から見て右まわりに回転駆動されることにより切削加工を行うもので、ねじれ溝22は、その切削回転方向と逆の左まわりにねじれているとともに、そのねじれ角は5°〜30°の範囲内で設けられている。また、一対の切れ刃16は、めねじ30のねじ山の山頂(めねじの内径)を含めて切削する総形切れ刃で、凸条20の間の溝部分も切れ刃として機能する。このねじ切りカッタ10は、超硬合金にて一体に構成されているとともに、刃部18の表面にはTiAlNの硬質被膜がコーティングされている。

Claims (2)
- 形成すべきめねじのねじ溝に対応する断面形状のリードの無い凸条が外周部に設けられるとともに、該凸条を分断するように溝が形成されることにより該溝に沿って切れ刃が設けられ、軸心まわりに回転駆動されるとともに下穴内を公転しつつ軸方向へリード送りされることにより、該下穴の内周面に前記めねじを切削加工するねじ切りカッタにおいて、
前記溝を、シャンク側から見た前記軸心まわりの切削回転方向に対して逆方向へねじれたねじれ溝とし、且つ、該ねじれ溝のねじれ角が5°〜30°の範囲内で、
前記凸条の一対のフランクのうち前記シャンク側に位置する後側フランクの切れ刃のすくい角が鋭角である
ことを特徴とするねじ切りカッタ。 - 前記切れ刃は、前記めねじのねじ山の山頂を含めて切削する総形切れ刃である
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のねじ切りカッタ。
