Description
アンテナステアリングアルゴリズムは、複数のアンテナビームを走査するためにビームセレクタを動作せることができる。スマートアンテナは、スイッチドビームアンテナ(switched beam antenna)、フェーズドアレイアンテナ(phased array antenna)、またはデュアル直交偏波アンテナ(dual orthogonal polarization antenna)あるいは選択可能な直線偏波(linear polarization)および円偏波(circular polarization)を提供するアンテナなどの選択可能ビームを提供する他の任意のアンテナアーキテクチャを含むことができる。
Claims (24)
- 衛星通信加入者デバイスであって、
少なくとも1つの衛星から信号を受信するための複数のアンテナビームであって、複数の指向性アンテナビームと全方向性アンテナビームを備えた複数のアンテナビームを生成するスマートアンテナと、
各アンテナビームによって受信された前記信号についての品質メトリックを計算する品質メトリックモジュールを備えた受信器と、
前記複数のアンテナビームを選択するために前記スマートアンテナに結合されたビームセレクタと、
前記複数の指向性アンテナビームを走査する前に、前記全方向性アンテナビームを選択するために、前記ビームセレクタを動作させ、
前記全方向性アンテナビームによって受信された前記信号について、前記受信器から計算した品質メトリックを受信し、
前記複数の指向性アンテナビームを走査させるかどうかを決定するために、前記計算した品質メトリックを走査閾値と比較し、前記複数の指向性アンテナを走査させる場合には、
走査した各々の指向性アンテナビームについて、前記受信器から計算した品質メトリックを受信し、
前記計算した品質メトリックを比較し、
前記少なくとも1つの衛星から信号を受信することを継続するために、前記走査した指向性アンテナビームの1つを前記比較に基づいて選択する
アンテナステアリングアルゴリズムを実行するためのアンテナステアリングアルゴリズムモジュールと、
を備えたことを特徴とする衛星通信加入者デバイス。 - 請求項1に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイスであって、前記計算した品質メトリックもまた、低品質メトリック閾値とも比較され、計算した品質メトリックが前記低品質メトリック閾値未満に低下しているために、その品質メトリックに関連する前記対応アンテナビームは選択の実行時に無視されることを特徴とする衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記複数のアンテナビームの少なくとも一部は、異なる偏波を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記異なる偏波は、直線偏波と円偏波の少なくとも1つを備えたことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記計算した品質メトリックは、受信信号強度インジケータと前記受信信号の信号対雑音比の少なくとも1つを備えたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記計算した品質メトリックは、前記受信信号のエラー率とデータスループットの少なくとも1つを備えたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記スマートアンテナは、前記複数の指向性アンテナビームと前記全方向性アンテナビームを生成するためのスイッチドビームアンテナを備えたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記スマートアンテナは、前記複数の指向性アンテナビームと前記全方向性アンテナビームを生成するためのフェーズドアレイアンテナを備えたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記フェーズドアレイアンテナは、方位角方向と仰角方向で指向性アンテナビームを生成することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 請求項9に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイスであって、前記スマートアンテナは少なくとも1つの地上リピータからの信号も受信し、前記ビームセレクタは、前記少なくとも1つの地上リピータから信号を受信するために方位角方向の指向性アンテナビームを選択し、前記少なくとも1つの衛星から信号を受信するために仰角方向の前記指向性アンテナビームを選択することを特徴とする衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記スマートアンテナから信号を送信するための送信器をさらに備えたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記アンテナステアリングアルゴリズムは、前記複数のアンテナビームの一部のみが前記少なくとも一つの衛星の既知方向に基づいて走査されるように、走査の間に、前記ビームセレクタを動作させることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 衛星通信加入者デバイスであって、
衛星と地上リピータの少なくとも1つからの信号を受信するための複数の指向性アンテナビームであって、複数の指向性アンテナビームと全方向性アンテナビームを備えた複数のアンテナビームを、方位角方向と仰角方向に生成するスマートアンテナと、
各指向性アンテナビームによって受信された前記信号について品質メトリックを計算する品質メトリックモジュールを含むトランシーバと、
前記方位角方向と仰角方向の前記複数の指向性アンテナビームを選択するために前記スマートアンテナに結合されたビームセレクタと、
前記複数のアンテナビームを走査する前に、前記全方向性アンテナビームを選択するために、前記ビームセレクタを動作させ、
前記全方向性アンテナビームによって受信された前記信号について、前記受信器から計算した品質メトリックを受信し、
前記複数の指向性アンテナビームを走査させるかどうかを決定するために、前記計算した品質メトリックを走査閾値と比較し、前記複数の指向性アンテナを走査させる場合には、
走査した指向性アンテナビームごとに前記計算した品質メトリックを前記トランシーバから受信し、
前記計算した品質メトリックを比較し、
前記衛星または地上リピータからの信号を受信することを継続するために、前記仰角方向または方位角方向の前記走査した指向性アンテナビームの1つを、前記比較に基づいて選択する
アンテナステアリングアルゴリズムを実行するためのアンテナステアリングアルゴリズムモジュールと
を備えたことを特徴とする衛星通信加入者デバイス。 - 前記計算した品質メトリックは、低品質メトリック閾値とも比較され、計算した品質メトリックが前記低品質メトリック閾値未満に低下しているために、その品質メトリックに関連する前記対応アンテナビームは、選択の実行時に無視されることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記計算した品質メトリックは、受信信号強度インジケータと前記受信信号の信号対雑音比の少なくとも1つを備えたことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記計算した品質メトリックは、前記受信信号のエラー率とデータスループットの少なくとも1つを備えたことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記スマートアンテナは、スイッチドビームアンテナとフェーズドアレイアンテナの少なくとも1つを備えたことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 前記アンテナステアリングアルゴリズムは、前記複数のアンテナビームの一部のみが少なくとも1つの前記衛星と地上リピータの既知方向に基づいて走査されるように、走査の間に、前記ビームセレクタを動作させることを特徴とする請求項17に記載の衛星通信加入者デバイス。
- 少なくとも1つの衛星から信号を受信するために複数のアンテナビームであって、複数の指向性アンテナビームと全方向性アンテナビームを備えた複数のアンテナビームを生成するスマートアンテナと、各アンテナビームによって受信された前記信号について品質メトリックを計算する品質メトリックモジュールを含む受信器と、前記スマートアンテナに結合されたビームセレクタと、アンテナステアリングアルゴリズムを実行するためのアンテナステアリングアルゴリズムモジュールとを備えた衛星通信加入者デバイスを操作する方法であって、
前記複数の指向性アンテナビームを走査する前に、前記全方向性アンテナビームを選択するために前記ビームセレクタを動作させることと、
前記全方向性アンテナビームによって受信された前記信号について、前記受信器から計算した品質メトリックを受信することと、
前記複数の指向性アンテナビームを走査させるかどうかを決定するために、前記計算した品質メトリックを走査閾値と比較し、前記複数の指向性アンテナを走査させる場合には、
走査した各指向性アンテナビームについて前記計算した品質メトリックを前記受信器から受信することと、
前記計算した品質メトリックを比較することと、
前記少なくとも1つの衛星から信号を受信することを継続するために、前記比較に基づいて、前記走査した指向性アンテナビームの1つを選択することと
を備えたことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記計算した品質メトリックは、低品質メトリック閾値とも比較され、計算した品質メトリックが前記低品質メトリック閾値未満に低下しているために、その品質メトリックに関連する前記対応アンテナビームは、選択の実行時に無視されることを特徴とする請求項19に記載の方法。
- 前記複数のアンテナビームの少なくとも一部は、異なる偏波を有することを特徴とする請求項19に記載の方法。
- 前記計算した品質メトリックは、受信信号強度インジケータと前記受信信号の信号対雑音比、および前記受信信号のエラー率とデータスループットのうちの少なくとも1つを備えたことを特徴とする請求項19に記載の方法。
- 前記スマートアンテナは、方位角方向と仰角方向に指向性アンテナビームを生成することを特徴とする請求項19に記載の方法。
- 前記スマートアンテナは、少なくとも1つの地上リピータからの信号も受信すること、および前記ビームセレクタは、前記少なくとも1つの地上リピータから信号を受信するために前記方位角方向の前記指向性アンテナビームを選択し、前記少なくとも1つの衛星から信号を受信するために前記仰角方向の前記指向性アンテナビームを選択することを特徴とする請求項23に記載の方法。
