【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明はいわゆるバックライトと呼ばれる表示器用照明装置に関し、特に比較的大型の液晶表示器の直下型照明などに好適なものである。

【従来の技術】
従来より表示器用照明装置は、冷陰極管等の光源を1乃至複数本並べてケースに収納し、開口部に光拡散手段を配置しており、例えば特開2002−23648号公報に示されるように、脱落や破壊防止およびコスト削減を計るため、金属製のフレームを配置して構成していた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
然し乍ら、表示器が大型、大面積になるに従って、照明装置も大型化する。大型化した照明装置は、表示器に光を照射するための大きな開口部を有しているので、自重や支え方によって、ケースのたわみやねじれを生じ易い。このため表示器(パネル)を均一に照明できなかったり、撓んだままで外圧がかかって損傷したり、生じた隙間からゴミが入って表示品位を下げることとなった。また従来、照明装置にあっても、部品点数を減少させることによってコスト低減が図られていたが、表示器が大きくなると照明装置の個々の部品も大きくなり、そのような大きな部品は寸法精度高く部品を製造することが困難になって、部品の歩留まりが悪くなったり、組立てにくくなったり、あるいは、かえってコストが高くなることが判った。更に照明装置と表示器の寸法誤差が顕著になって表示器を支えきれない場合も生じてきた。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は上述の点を考慮してなされたもので、表示器の直下に配置される光源と、前記光源の光を表示器に照射する開口部を有し光源を支持するケースと、当該開口部に設けられた拡散手段とを有し、前記開口部には更に表示器に対向するように透光性で厚みのある補強板が設けられ、前記ケースの側面には前記補強板を前記ケースに固定する手段を有したシャーシが、少なくとも前記ケースの4辺毎に設けられたものである。

また本発明は、開口部の周辺部分に表示器のガイド部をスライド可能に設けたものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
図1は本発明の照明装置の上下断面図、図2は左断面図、図3は右側面図、図4は背面からの分解斜視図で、図5は図4の部品透視図、図6は表示器のガイド部の要部拡大図で、図7は図6のA−A、B−B断面図で、いずれも本発明がもっとも好適な液晶大型表示装置の直下型バックライトを例にとってある。

これらの図において、1は、多数整列された光源(ランプ)の光を表示器(液晶パネル)Lに照射する開口部を有し、その光源2を支持するケースで、上下面フレーム状のものを所定間隔で結合させた形状のものでも、底の無い舟形でもよい。またその開口部は液晶パネルに対しては略四角形をなすのが好ましい。このようなケース1は樹脂成形品からなるが、金属成形品で構成しても良い。ケース1の開口部には拡散手段3として、レンズシートが3枚と光拡散シート1枚が積層されている。拡散手段はこのほか、乳白色シートや光拡散材混練シートなどが利用でき、いずれも観察面から光源2の位置が、強い光のある場所として、確認できない程度に光を拡散できれば良い。この実施例ではケース1の背面は開放されているが、裏蓋(底面)と一体成形されていてもよい。またケース1の光源を保持する桟または枠体と拡散手段3の保持部を別部品で構成するなど、ケース1を複数部品としてもよい。

ケース1の開口部には、拡散手段3の内側に、表示器Lに対向するように、透光性で厚みのある補強板5が設けられている。この補強板5は、低反射グレードの透明アクリル樹脂板等からなり、開口部にはめこまれる大きさと形状をなしている。このような補強板5は、表示器Lと対向して配置されるので表示器Lの外的負荷からの保護、及び、振動や衝撃による画面ちらつきを押さえることが出来る。

そして41、42、43、44は、ケース1の対向する側面に設けられたシャーシで、金属成形品からなり、上下のシャーシ42、44は補強板5の固定手段として折り返し段部を有し、補強板5にがたつきがないようにケース1に押圧している。固定手段は根元に弾性を持った舌片が好ましいが、補強板5を挟持する形の物でも良い。また固定手段を左右のシャーシ41、43に設けても良い。このような構成にすることで、補強板とシャーシは照明装置を堅牢にし、液晶表示装置の歪みやたわみの発生を軽減することが出来る。また45、46は後ろ側のシャーシで、6は裏蓋である。裏蓋6の内面やケース1の側面と裏蓋6との間に反射膜61、62を設けると更に好ましい。このように、シャーシを複数、より好ましくは桟毎に分けて構成することで、各々の部品の寸法精度を高め、また組立工数を考慮してもコストが低く出来る。

また7は、ケース1の開口部の周辺部分に設けられた表示器Lのガイド部で、ビスで止めるための透孔を略楕円状にするとか、止めるビスを偏平にするなどしてスライド可能に設けられており、表示器Lの寸法ばらつきがあっても大きなクリアランスを持って確実に固定できる。なおこのようなガイド部7として、例えば上部ガイド部を弾性体で構成して、表示器Lを押圧固定するようにしてもよい。

【発明の効果】
以上の如く、本発明にあっては開口部に透光性で厚みのある補強板を設けこれをシャーシで固定するので、補強板はがたつかず、照明装置が堅牢になり、表示器とも整合性が良い。また、複数のシャーシで構成することで、各々の部品単価は低下し、しかも寸法精度が高まるので、コストが良く堅牢となる。さらに開口部の周辺部分に表示器のガイド部をスライド可能に設けるので、表示装置のガラス基板の大きさなどにばらつき等が出てもこれを堅牢に支持できる。
