Description
【0001】
クライアント印刷ジョブの入力として、PDL(Page Description Language:ページ記述言語)データとJCL(JobControl Language)データを受け付ける。
PostScript(Adobe社の登録商標)言語に代表されるPDLの記述は、以下の3要素、
【0134】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image forming system, an image forming method, and a server device, and in particular, a plurality of image forming devices, a server device that manages the image forming device, and a client device that requests a job to the image forming device. The present invention relates to a setting method for executing a job using a plurality of image forming apparatuses in an image forming system including the image forming system.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, an image forming apparatus such as a single printer is commonly used from a plurality of computers. In this case, the user selects a desired printer from a computer to be used, and causes the selected printer to execute a desired job via a general-purpose interface such as a LAN or an interface using dedicated hardware.
[0003]
Also known as a server / client method, a method in which a client user's job is sent to a printer via a controller server is widely known.
[0004]
In recent years, in the light printing market called print-on-demand, there has been an increased opportunity for computers to perform a large amount of jobs on the image forming apparatus, and a large amount of jobs can be executed efficiently and at low cost. There is a need for a method.
[0005]
In order to efficiently execute a job, a server having a high-performance controller function capable of handling a large amount of jobs and a plurality of image forming apparatuses connected to the server are not executed by one image forming apparatus. A document server system that manages such that a single job is output by a plurality of image forming apparatuses is used particularly when a large amount of printing is performed.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when a plurality of print jobs divided from one job are executed using a plurality of image forming apparatuses, an image processing method, a paper discharge destination tray, a paper size, a double-sided attachment method (double-sided printing / single-sided printing) The settings in the job such as () need to be made for each image forming apparatus, but the paper size and the double-sided attachment method are usually output with the same settings. Specifically, a plurality of image forming apparatuses that are output destinations are different in type, such as a color image forming apparatus and a black and white image forming apparatus, or a discharge processing apparatus (such as the number of mounted discharge trays) ( When the finishing option is installed, the user usually makes different settings for the functions unique to each image forming apparatus, such as color / monochrome image processing method and paper discharge tray specification, but the paper size In general, it is desirable to output common settings such as double-sided printing and double-sided printing with the same settings.
[0007]
For this reason, when a user executes a job using a plurality of image forming apparatuses, unless the common function among the settings for each image forming apparatus is set to the same setting, the job is output for each image forming apparatus. The output result is not desired by the user, for example, the paper size is different, or the one-side printed and the two-sided printed are confused.
[0008]
Therefore, in order for the user to ensure that the common function has the same setting, it is necessary to know in advance which setting item is the common function.
[0009]
As described above, when a single job is executed using a plurality of image forming apparatuses, in order to obtain a desired output result, the user needs to be familiar with the setting items of the individual image forming apparatuses. It is necessary to set the items to be set to the same setting for all the image forming apparatuses, and the operation becomes complicated.
[0010]
The present invention has been made in view of the situation as described above. When one job is executed using a plurality of image forming apparatuses, a common setting is set among items to be set for each image forming apparatus. An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming system, an image forming method, and a server device that can easily identify an item to be processed.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above-described object, an information processing apparatus as one embodiment of the present invention is an information processing apparatus capable of communicating with a plurality of image forming apparatuses ,
Selecting means for selecting a set of image forming apparatuses composed of a plurality of image forming apparatuses as an output destination;
Storage means for storing common item information indicating items to be set in common for each image forming apparatus constituting the set of image forming apparatuses;
A common item in which print setting information for executing a common process in each of the image forming apparatuses constituting the set of image forming apparatuses is set when the set of the image forming apparatuses is selected by the selection unit; A setting display means for displaying a setting screen including individual items capable of setting print setting information for individual processing executed in one image forming apparatus included in the set of image forming apparatuses;
Generating means for generating a print job based on the print setting information set via the setting screen displayed by the setting display means;
An output unit that outputs the print job generated by the generation unit to the plurality of image forming apparatuses constituting the set of the image forming apparatuses selected by the selection unit;
The setting display means displays the common item and the individual item so as to be identifiable based on the common item information.
[0012]
That is, according to the present invention, in an image forming system including a plurality of image forming apparatuses, a server apparatus that manages the image forming apparatuses, and a client apparatus that requests a job to the image forming apparatus, each image is stored in the storage unit of the server apparatus. Among items that can be set for a forming apparatus, when a job is executed using a set of image forming apparatuses including a plurality of image forming apparatuses, information relating to items to be set in common is stored in the server apparatus. Server apparatus or client apparatus to which a job is input based on information stored in storage means when a job input from any of the client apparatus is executed using a set of image forming apparatuses The display means displays the items that need to be set to execute the job, along with a mark to identify whether the item should be set in common To.
[0013]
In this way, when one job is executed using a plurality of image forming apparatuses, for example, items to be set in common for each image forming apparatus, such as the number of copies and the paper size, can be easily identified. .
[0014]
For this reason, it is not necessary for the user to be familiar with the setting items of each image forming apparatus and the items to be commonly set in the job, and a desired output result can be obtained easily and reliably.
[0015]

Sorting can be performed by the shift sort method. The electronic sort function is called collate. If you have the large-capacity memory described in the core section above, the so-called collate function is used to change the buffered page order and discharge order using this buffer memory. It can also support electronic sorting functions. Next, the group function is a function for sorting by page, while sorting is sorted by job.

[Page description language (PDL)]
Next, PDL data used in this embodiment will be described. The description of PDL represented by PostScript (registered trademark of Adobe Corporation) language includes the following three elements:
(A) Image description by character code (b) Image description by graphic code (c) Image description by raster image data
[0074]
That is, PDL is a language for describing an image composed of a combination of the above elements, and the data described with this is called PDL data.
[0075]
FIG. 13A shows an example of PDL data, and FIG. 13B shows an image drawn according to the PDL data of FIG. 13A. The three lines L1311 to L1313 in FIG. 13A are descriptions corresponding to the character R1301 in FIG. 13B, and the two lines L1321 to L1322 in FIG. 13A are descriptions corresponding to the graphic R1302 in FIG. 13B, and L1331 in FIG. L1332 (omitted on the way) is a description corresponding to the raster image image1 in FIG. 13B.
[0076]
The description of the character information R1301 will be described. L1311 is a description for designating the color of the character. The parentheses indicate the density of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black in the range of 0.0 to 1.0. In this description, the character color is specified as black. L1312 assigns the character string “IC” to the variable String1. In L1313, the first and second parameters indicate the x-coordinate and y-coordinate of the start position coordinates on the paper on which the character string is laid out, the third parameter indicates the character size, and the fourth parameter indicates the character spacing. The fifth parameter indicates a character string to be laid out. In other words, in L1313, an instruction is given to lay out the character string “IC” with a size of 0.3 and an interval of 0.1 from the coordinate position (0.0, 0.0).
[0077]
Next, the description of the graphic R1302 will be described. L1321 designates the color of the line as in L1311, and here, Cyan is designated. Next, L1322 is a description that designates drawing a line. The first and second parameters are the xy coordinates of the start coordinates of the line, and the third and fourth parameters are the end coordinates. The fifth parameter indicates the thickness of the line.
[0078]
Further, describing the description of the raster image image1, L1331 substitutes the raster image for the variable image1. Here, the first parameter represents the image type and the number of color components of the raster image, the second parameter represents the number of bits per color component, and the third and fourth parameters are the x direction and y direction of the raster image. Represents the image size. The fifth and subsequent parameters are raster image data. The number of raster image data is the product of the number of color components constituting one pixel and the image size in the x and y directions. In L1331, since the CMYK image is composed of four color components (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black), the number of raster image data is 4 × 5 × 5 = 100. Next, L1332 indicates that image1 is laid out in a size of 0.5 × 0.5 from the position of coordinates (0.0, 0.5).
[0079]
The raster image data shown in FIG. 13B is actually developed in the RAM 1208 (or Disk 1207) for each CMYK color component. For example, corresponding to R1301, each

On the other hand, if it is determined in step S2404 that Auto has been instructed, it is determined in step S2405 whether or not page designation has been made in advance in the manual. If page designation has been made in manual, the process advances to step S2409. In step S2409, it is determined whether or not a color page is designated in order to execute RIP as specified in units of pages in advance, and black and white pages are designated for monochrome pages (step S2410). ), The color RIP is executed for the page designated as the color page (step S2411). Each time the RIP of each page ends, it is determined whether or not it is a page end (step S2412). If it is not a page end, the process proceeds to the next page (step S2413), and the processing from step S2409 is performed again.
