Description
【0001】

起泡性は、JIS2234(規格4ml以下)で試験した。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a cooling liquid, a cooling liquid sealing method, and a cooling liquid system using the cooling liquid. More specifically, the present invention relates to a fuel cell coolant, particularly a vehicle-mounted fuel cell coolant, a method of enclosing a coolant in a cooling circuit of a fuel cell cooling system, and a fuel cell cooling system.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In general, a fuel cell stack is a stacked structure of a plurality of unit cells, and a cooling plate for cooling the stack (unit cell) is provided for each sub-stack composed of several unit cells. Yes. A coolant passage is formed in the cooling plate, and the stack is cooled by the coolant flowing through the coolant passage. In this way, the coolant of the fuel cell circulates within the stack that is generating power, that is, between the sub-stacks, so that the power generation efficiency is reduced due to leakage to the outside of the stack and the resistance of the coolant (energy loss). High insulation performance is required to prevent (reduction). In order to satisfy these requirements for ensuring insulation performance and ensuring cooling efficiency, pure water has been used as a coolant in the prior art. In addition to these requirements, the fuel cell stack coolant is also required to have rust prevention properties in order to maintain the product life of the cooling plate. In general, this requirement has been addressed by using a stainless steel material having a high rust prevention property for the cooling plate or adding iron ions to the cooling liquid as disclosed in
[0003]
However, such a conventional countermeasure can be effective for a so-called fixed type, installation type medium / large-sized fuel cell, and always-on type fuel cell, for example, a fuel cell mounted on a vehicle. It was not necessarily effective for non-installation type small fuel cells and intermittent operation type fuel cells.
[0004]
For example, in the case of an intermittent operation type fuel cell and a non-installation type fuel cell, the coolant is lowered to the ambient temperature when not in operation, so that it is required to have antifreezing properties under conditions where the ambient temperature is below freezing point. This is because the cooling circuit including the cooling plate may be damaged when the cooling liquid freezes. In addition, when the cooling circuit is damaged, the fuel cell may not fully perform its function.
[0005]
Here, when antifreezing is taken into consideration, for example, a cooling liquid for cooling an internal combustion engine may be used as the antifreezing cooling liquid. However, since the coolant for cooling the internal combustion engine is used in a portion where electricity is not essentially generated, low conductivity is not taken into consideration and it has extremely high electrical conductivity. On the other hand, since electricity flows through the cooling pipe of the fuel cell stack, if the electrical conductivity of the coolant is high, electricity generated in the fuel cell flows to the coolant and loses electricity. Therefore, it is not suitable as a coolant for cooling the fuel cell stack.
[0006]
Further, in the case of a non-installation type fuel cell mounted on a vehicle or the like, weight reduction of the fuel cell system including the cooling circuit is an important overcoming problem. Therefore, from the viewpoint of weight reduction, it is expected that light metals having high thermal conductivity such as aluminum materials will be used for cooling plates, heat exchangers and the like in the future. These light metals generally do not have as high antirust properties as stainless steel materials, and therefore the cooling liquid itself is required to have antirust properties.
[0007]
In view of this, the present inventors have disclosed, as Patent Document 2, a base containing water and the conductivity of the cooling liquid at a low conductivity and the hydrogen ion index of the cooling liquid at a substantially neutral value. A cooling fluid containing a rust additive was filed. The rust preventive additive is a weak alkaline additive, a weak acidic additive, or a nonionic substance. As nonionic substances, saccharides such as quercetin and nonionic surfactants such as alkyl glucosides have been disclosed.

JP 2001-164244 A
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The coolant of Patent Document 2 has low conductivity, rust prevention, high heat transfer and antifreeze as a coolant for the fuel cell stack. However, since most of the additives are ionic, the additives are also removed by the ion exchange resin mounted in the vehicle cooling system, and there is a problem in corrosion resistance. In addition, neutral sugars and nonionic surfactants also have drawbacks. Since saccharides are dispersed in the liquid, the stability at low temperature is poor, precipitates are generated, and there is a possibility of clogging in the cooling system or water leakage due to biting into the seal. Nonionic surfactants have low surface tension and high foaming properties, and therefore cavitation occurs.
[0010]
The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and has a low conductivity, a rust prevention property, a high heat transfer property and an antifreeze property as a coolant for a fuel cell stack, and is particularly excellent in an aluminum anticorrosion property. An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell coolant having low foaming properties and excellent low-temperature stability.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, first, the present invention is a cooling liquid comprising a base containing water and containing polyglycerin and / or polyvinyl alcohol as a rust preventive additive. Here, the base is preferably a mixed solution containing glycols.
[0012]
Polyglycerin (PGL) is represented by the following general formula.
[Chemical 1]
Here, n is an integer of 2 or more.
[0013]
Of these, those having a molecular weight of 200 to 1000 are preferred, and those having a molecular weight of 300 to 800 are particularly suitable. If the molecular weight is smaller than 200, there is an inconvenience that the aluminum anticorrosion effect is small, and if the molecular weight is larger than 1000, the solubility in a base material containing water is lowered.
[0014]
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is represented by the following general formula.
[Chemical 2]
Here, n is an integer of 2 or more.
[0015]
Of these, those having a molecular weight of 10,000 to 150,000 are preferred, and those having a molecular weight of 22,000 to 111,000 can be particularly preferably used. If the molecular weight is less than 10,000, there is an inconvenience that the aluminum anticorrosion effect is small, and if the molecular weight is more than 150,000, the solubility in a substrate containing water is lowered.
[0016]
Moreover, 1000-50000 ppm is preferable and, as for the addition amount of polyglycerol and / or polyvinyl alcohol, 5000-10000 ppm is especially preferable.
[0017]
These rust preventive additives can make the cooling liquid have a conductivity of less than 50 μS / cm, and have an insulating property (low conductivity) and are particularly excellent in the corrosion resistance of aluminum.
[0018]
The cooling liquid is preferably purified by a cooling liquid purification system using an ion exchange resin. Since these rust preventive additives are nonionic, only ionized impurities can be easily removed by using an ion exchange resin. Moreover, it is preferable that the cooling liquid is deoxidized. Deoxidation treatment can prevent deterioration of the quality of the coolant over a long period of time.
[0019]
The above cooling liquid is suitably used for fuel cells. In particular, it is preferably used for a vehicle-mounted fuel cell (FCHV).
[0020]
Secondly, the present invention is a method of performing deoxygenation treatment on the above-mentioned cooling liquid and enclosing the deoxidized cooling liquid together with an inert gas in a cooling circuit of a fuel cell. Thereby, deterioration of the quality of the coolant in the cooling circuit can be prevented over a long period of time.
[0021]
3rdly, this invention is a cooling system of a fuel cell provided with the cooling circuit with which said cooling fluid and inert gas were enclosed. This cooling system can have low conductivity, rust prevention, high heat transfer and antifreeze. Moreover, deterioration of the quality of the coolant in the cooling circuit can be prevented over a long period of time. By performing a deoxygenation process in which an inert gas such as nitrogen (N 2 ) is blown, dissolved oxygen in the cooling liquid is reduced, and corrosion of the aluminum material can be suppressed. Therefore, corrosion of the aluminum material used as a material for forming the coolant circuit can be prevented by deoxidizing the coolant using nitrogen gas or the like.
[0022]
4thly, this invention adjusts the base containing water, adds polyglycerin and / or polyvinyl alcohol as a rust preventive additive to the said base, and uses the said base and the said rust preventive using ion exchange resin. It is a manufacturing method of the cooling liquid which refine | purifies the mixed solution with an additive. Thereby, the cooling fluid which satisfy | fills low electroconductivity, rust prevention property, high heat transfer property, and antifreeze can be manufactured. In preparing the base, glycols may be used in addition to water.
[0023]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, the coolant according to the present invention will be described with reference to Examples and Comparative Examples.
[0024]
In Table 1, about polyglycerin (PGL) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) which are the rust preventive additives of the present invention, added to the average molecular weight and addition amount used in Examples 1 to 8 and 50% aqueous solution of ethylene glycol (EG) The conductivity measured at 25 ° C. with a predetermined amount of the agent is shown. Table 2 shows the additive-free amount and conductivity of the additive used in Comparative Examples 1 to 3 and the additive.
[0025]
[Table 1]
[0026]
[Table 2]
[0027]
The coolants of Examples 1 to 6 contain ethylene glycol (50% by weight) and ion-exchanged water (50% by weight in combination with additives) as a base, and a coolant containing a predetermined amount of polyglycerin as a rust preventive additive. It is. Ethylene glycol belongs to glycols together with propylene glycol and is well known as a substance that provides antifreeze characteristics to the solution to be mixed. Further, a base which is a mixed solution of ion-exchanged water and glycols is excellent in heat conduction characteristics, as is understood from the fact that it is generally used as a coolant for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle.
[0028]
The cooling liquids of Examples 7 and 8 include ethylene glycol (50% by weight) and ion-exchanged water (50% by weight in combination with additives) as a base, and a predetermined amount of polyvinyl alcohol as a rust preventive additive. It is.
[0029]
The coolant of Comparative Example 1 contains ethylene glycol (50% by weight) and ion-exchanged water (50% by weight) as a base and no additives, and Comparative Example 2 has ethylene glycol (50% by weight) as a base. And a predetermined amount of quercetin (3, 3 ′, 4 ′, 5, 7-pentahydroxyflavone), which is a nonionic substance that does not ionize in an aqueous solution, including ion-exchanged water (50% by weight in combination with additives) Comparative Example 3 is a coolant containing a predetermined amount of polyoxyethylene, which is a nonionic surfactant that does not ionize in an aqueous solution as an additive.
In any case, the total composition is adjusted to 100% by weight by adjusting the weight% of ion-exchanged water.
[0030]
In Examples and Comparative Examples of the present invention, when a fuel cell is mounted on a vehicle, considering that aluminum and an aluminum alloy are used as a material for a cooling plate and a heat exchanger in a cooling circuit, in particular, The anticorrosion properties for aluminum materials were taken into consideration. When a fuel cell is mounted on a vehicle, weight reduction and cost reduction are required, and aluminum materials that are still frequently used in vehicle radiators are considered appropriate as materials that can meet these requirements. is there.
[0031]
Table 3 shows the evaluation results of Examples and Comparative Examples. Here, the electrical conductivity is a test in which two electrodes are put into the coolant to be tested and the ease of current flow between these electrodes is measured, and the method is well known to those skilled in the art. The conductivity of the test solution at 25 ° C. was measured. The anticorrosion performance of aluminum is evaluated by anodic polarization measurement. The evaluation condition is that an additive is added to
[0032]
[Table 3]
[0033]
The electrical conductivity (electrical conductivity) of Examples 1 to 6 is 0.80 (μS / cm) or less, indicating a low electrical conductivity. In addition, Examples 7 and 8 show the 30 (μS / cm) level, and it can be said that they are good rust preventive additives for the coolant that requires low conductivity.
[0034]
Next, the passivating current density (passivation holding current) (μA / cm 2 ), which is the current at which the test metal is passivated, is examined. The current density indicates the magnitude of the current generated per unit area when the test material is electrolyzed. In general, the higher the current density, the more easily the test material is dissolved, that is, it is easily corroded. means. Therefore, in this test, the higher the current density, the higher the corrosion rate of the aluminum material. Each example shows an aluminum anticorrosive property of 40 (μA / cm 2 ) or less, while Comparative Example 1 in which no additive is added shows a high numerical value of 100 (μA / cm 2 ) or more. Moreover, each Example showed the low foaming property of 1 (ml) or less, but the comparative example 3 which added polyoxyethylene showed the high foaming property with 10 (ml). Further, each example showed low-temperature stability without precipitation / separation, whereas Comparative Example 2 to which quercetin was added produced a precipitate after standing for 2 weeks.
[0035]
Looking back on the results of the above comparative tests, the coolant of Comparative Example 1, that is, the coolant having the bases of Examples 1 to 8 and the base equivalent to that base, as a whole, has conductivity, antifreeze. Although good results are exhibited, it is unsuitable as a coolant for cooling the fuel cell stack from the viewpoint of corrosion resistance (rust prevention). Moreover, even if it is a nonionic substance, the cooling liquid of the comparative example 2 which added quercetin has low-temperature stability, and produces | generates a deposit. Similarly, even in the case of a nonionic substance, Comparative Example 3 to which a nonionic surfactant is added has high foaming property and may cause cavitation.
[0036]
Thereby, the composition of the cooling liquids of Examples 1 to 8 has low conductivity, rust prevention, high heat transfer and antifreeze, in particular, excellent aluminum corrosion resistance, low foaming property, and low temperature stability. It can be seen that it is suitable as a coolant for a fuel cell stack.
[0037]
Next, a stack cooling system for a fuel cell provided with the coolant as a refrigerant will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 1 is a configuration diagram of a fuel cell stack cooling system to which an embodiment of the present invention can be applied. As the cooling liquid in the cooling circuit, the above-described cooling liquid (that is, the cooling liquid of Examples 1 to 8) is used, and when these cooling liquids are sealed in the
[0045]
With reference to FIG. 3, the manufacturing method of the said cooling liquid is demonstrated. FIG. 3 is an explanatory view showing an outline of a process for producing the coolant of the present invention.
[0046]
In FIG. 3, first, a base is prepared using ion exchange water and ethylene glycol. For example, it adjusts also considering the addition amount of a rust preventive additive so that ethylene glycol may be 50 weight% in a cooling fluid after manufacture (process 1). Then, a rust preventive additive is adjusted using polyglycerin and / or polyvinyl alcohol (process 2). After adjusting a base and an antirust additive, a base and an antirust additive are mixed and it is set as a mixed solution (process 3). In mixing, stirring may be performed simultaneously. Finally, the mixed solution is filtered (purified) using the ion exchange resin membrane to remove the ionized substance in the mixed solution (step 4). The mixed solution purified by the ion exchange resin membrane becomes the cooling liquid of the present invention.
[0047]
In addition, when refine | purifying with an ion exchange resin, you may refine | purify using an ion exchange resin membrane and a fibrous ion exchange resin, and you may refine | purify through a to-be-purified liquid to the column filled with the ion exchange resin particle. Alternatively, the mixed solution of the base and the rust preventive additive and the ion exchange resin may be stirred for a predetermined time, and the mixed solution may be purified by a PTFE filter membrane. In using the ion exchange resin, it is preferable to remove the metal ions adsorbed on the ion exchange resin by treating with an acid solution (for example, concentrated hydrochloric acid) before purifying the mixed solution.
[0048]
The fuel cell coolant according to the present invention has been described above based on the embodiments. However, the above-described embodiments are for facilitating understanding of the present invention, and do not limit the present invention.
[0049]
Moreover, the block diagram of the fuel cell stack cooling system of FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 is an exemplification, and is not limited to this as long as it is a cooling system provided with the coolant of the present invention enclosed with an inert gas as a refrigerant of the cooling circuit. .
[0050]
Further, in each of the above embodiments, it is assumed that an aluminum material is used for a cooling circuit including a cooling plate. However, it does not prevent other materials from being used in the cooling circuit.
[0051]
【The invention's effect】
As in the present invention, by adding polyglycerin and / or polyvinyl alcohol as a rust preventive additive to a coolant comprising a base containing water, low conductivity, rust preventive as a coolant for a fuel cell stack As a result, a fuel cell coolant having excellent heat resistance, anti-freezing property, aluminum corrosion resistance, low foaming property and low temperature stability can be obtained.
