Description

【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a double locking connector.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As a side-retainer type double-locking connector, if the retainer is provided with a tapered surface and the terminal fitting is in a half-inserted state when the retainer is mounted on the housing, the tapered surface is the rear end of the terminal fitting stabilizer. There is one in which the terminal fitting is pushed into the normal insertion position while sliding on the edge. Such a side retainer type connector is disclosed in, for example, Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 61-90174.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the edge portion of the stabilizer usually remains a broken surface when the terminal fitting is pressed from a metal plate, so the resistance between the taper surface of the retainer is large and the terminal fitting can be pushed in smoothly. There was a problem that I could not.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a double-locking connector in which a terminal fitting in a half-inserted state can be smoothly pushed into a regular insertion position by a retainer.
[0004]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A double locking connector according to the invention of claim 1 for solving the above-mentioned problem is a cavity having a primary locking means capable of accommodating a terminal fitting and locking the terminal fitting in a retaining state, and the cavity. A housing having a retainer mounting hole provided in a direction intersecting with the rectangular tube portion, and a stabilizer for guiding insertion into the cavity at the upper part of the rear end side of the rectangular tube portion. A pair of terminal fittings that are cut and raised in a state of projecting upward from the rectangular tube portion while the surface is along the side surface of the rectangular tube portion, and an inclined surface is formed on the rear end edge of the stabilizer, and the housing side An insertion portion that can be inserted into the retainer mounting hole from the side, and a guide portion that protrudes from the insertion portion corresponding to the cavity. Ki Mounted movably between a temporary locking position that can be inserted into the bitty side and a final locking position that locks to the rear edge of the stabilizer to perform secondary locking, and the terminal fitting is in a semi-inserted state. When the whole is moved from the temporary locking position to the final locking position, the guide portion is formed with a tapered surface capable of sliding on the inclined surface and pushing the terminal fitting into the normal insertion position. When the retainer is in the temporary locking position, the guide portion is located at the center in the width direction behind the rectangular tube portion with respect to the cavity. Although the terminal fitting is allowed to be inserted into the cavity by being positioned above the rectangular tube portion, the guide portion enters the rear side of the stabilizer and is locked when the retainer moves to the full locking position. , The guide portion is larger width to the front side from the rear end side, and the width of the front end portion thereof have been slightly less than the width dimension between the both stabilizer, the retainer is in the temporary locking position When the terminal fitting is inserted into the cavity at a certain time, the terminal fitting is inserted while the guide portion is inserted between the stabilizers, while the insertion portion is provided with a locking projection. The retainer is held at the temporary locking position by engaging the locking protrusion with the holding protrusion on the housing side .
[0005]
Operation and effect of the invention
According to the first aspect of the present invention, when the terminal fitting is in a half-inserted state when the retainer is mounted on the housing, the terminal fitting is slidably in contact with the inclined surface provided at the rear edge of the stabilizer. Is pushed into the normal insertion position. By making the inclined surface of the stabilizer slidably contact the tapered surface of the retainer, the resistance between the two is reduced and the terminal fitting can be pushed in smoothly.
[0006]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
The double locking connector 10 of the present embodiment includes a housing 11, a plurality of male terminal fittings 40 attached to the housing 11, and a side retainer 30 (hereinafter referred to as a retainer). In the following drawings, illustration of a part of the male terminal fitting 40 is omitted for convenience of explanation.
[0007]
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, the housing 11 is formed in a box shape from a synthetic resin material. The front portion of the housing 11 is provided with a rectangular tube-shaped hood portion 12 into which a mating connector (not shown) can be fitted, and the rear portion is provided with a plurality of upper and lower cavities 13 that can accommodate the male terminal fittings 40. It is installed. Each cavity 13 is opened to the front and rear, and the opening on the rear side is a terminal insertion port 15 into which the male terminal fitting 40 can be inserted. Further, lances 16 (corresponding to the “primary locking means” of the present invention) that can be bent up and down are provided on the bottom surfaces of the cavities 13, and retaining protrusions 16 </ b> A that protrude from the upper surface of the lances 16. The male terminal fitting 40 is prevented from being pulled out by being locked to the male terminal fitting 40.
[0008]
A mounting recess 17 is provided on the side surface of the housing 11 at a position slightly above the rear end side. A pair of retainer mounting holes 18 are provided so as to intersect the upper and lower cavities 13 upward from the mounting recess 17. An insertion portion 31 of a retainer 30 described later can be inserted into each retainer mounting hole 18 from the mounting recess 17 side. Further, as shown in FIG. 5, the upper surface of the lower retainer mounting hole 18 is partly cut away from the mounting recess 17 side, and there is a pair of openings on the opening side (mounting recess 17 side) and the back side. Holding protrusions 19A and 19B are provided so as to protrude. These holding projections 19A and 19B are for holding the retainer 30 at a predetermined position with respect to the housing 11, as will be described later.
[0009]
The retainer 30 is formed of a synthetic resin material, and as shown in FIGS. 6 to 8, the retainer 30 has a U-shape as a whole and has a pair of upper and lower insertion portions 31 and both insertion portions 31 that are elongated in the left-right direction. It is comprised from the connection part 32 which connects the side edge part of this to perpendicular | vertical. The retainer 30 is mounted on the housing 11 in a state where each insertion portion 31 is inserted into the retainer mounting hole 18 from the mounting recess 17 side. At this time, the position of the retainer 30 relative to the housing 11 is set to two positions: a temporary locking position (see FIG. 12) with a shallow insertion depth and a final locking position (see FIG. 1) inserted to the back. ing. A locking projection 34 projects from the upper surface of the lower insertion portion 31, and the retaining projection 34 engages with the holding projection 19 </ b> A or 19 </ b> B on the housing 11 side, so that the retainer 30 is in the temporary locking position or It is held at the main locking position.
[0010]
In addition, on the bottom surface of each insertion portion 31, a long and thin guide portion 35 protrudes in the front-rear direction corresponding to each cavity 13. Guide surfaces 36A and 36B are formed on the rear end edges of the insertion portion 31 and the guide portions 35 so as to be inclined upward toward the rear end side. By these, tab portions 41 of the male terminal fitting 40 described later are formed in the cavity 13. It is possible to guide to the back side of. Each guide portion 35 has a slightly larger width dimension from the rear end side to the front end side, and the width dimension of the front end portion is slightly smaller than the width dimension between a pair of stabilizers 45 of the male terminal fitting 40 described later. Has been made smaller. Furthermore, a tapered surface 38 is formed on the front surface of each guide portion 35 toward the front end as it goes toward the connecting portion 32 (in the upward direction in FIG. 1).
[0011]
On the other hand, the male terminal fitting 40 is formed by pressing a conductive metal plate material. As shown in FIGS. 9 to 11, a tab portion 41 is provided at the front end of the male terminal fitting 40. When the male terminal fitting 40 is attached to the cavity 13, the tab portion 41 protrudes into the hood portion 12. Thus, it can be connected to a mating female terminal fitting (not shown). Also, a barrel portion 42 is formed at the rear end of the male terminal fitting 40 so that the sheath of the electric wire 50 and the core wire exposed from the sheath can be caulked and fixed. Between the tab part 41 and the barrel part 42, the cylindrical square cylinder part 43 as a whole is formed. On the bottom surface of the rectangular tube portion 43, a retaining receiving portion 44 that can be engaged with the retaining projection 16A of the lance 16 is recessed. Further, a pair of stabilizers 45 are vertically erected from the left and right ends at the upper part of the rear end side of the rectangular tube portion 43. The rear edge portion of each stabilizer 45 is formed substantially vertically, and on the right side of the rear edge in FIG. 10, that is, on the side where the retainer 30 is inserted when the male terminal fitting 40 is attached to the cavity 13. A convex rounded inclined surface 46 is formed. The inclined surface 46 is a contact surface with the tapered surface 38 of the retainer 30 as will be described later.
[0012]
The configuration of the present embodiment is as described above, and the operation thereof will be described next.
To assemble the double locking connector 10, first, the insertion portions 31 of the retainers 30 are inserted into the retainer mounting holes 18 from the mounting recesses 17 of the housing 11. Then, the locking protrusion 37 of the retainer 30 elastically climbs over the holding protrusion 19A and engages with each other, and the retainer 30 is held at the temporary locking position (position shown in FIG. 12). In this temporary locking position, each guide portion 35 is located at the center in the width direction with respect to the cavity 13.
[0013]
Next, the male terminal fitting 40 in which the electric wire 50 is caulked to the barrel portion 42 is inserted into the cavity 13 through the terminal insertion port 15. As the male terminal fitting 40 is inserted, the guide portion 35 enters between the pair of stabilizers 45. Since the guide portion 35 is formed wider toward the back side of the cavity 13, the posture is straightened in the left-right direction as the male terminal fitting 40 is inserted deeply.
[0014]
Further, the bottom surface of the rectangular tube portion 43 abuts against the retaining protrusion 16A of the lance 16 to bend and deform the lance 16 downward. When the male terminal fitting 40 is inserted to the normal insertion position (the position of the male terminal fitting 40 shown on the left side of FIG. 12), the lance 16 returns and deforms upward and the retaining projection 16A enters the retaining portion 44. And the male terminal fitting 40 is in a primary locking state. At this time, if the male terminal fitting 40 is not inserted to the normal insertion position and is in a half-inserted state (the state of the male terminal fitting 40 shown on the right side of FIG. 12), the retaining projection 16A becomes the retaining member. The lance 16 does not engage with the pin 44 but hits the bottom surface of the rectangular tube portion 43 and remains bent and deformed.
[0015]
Next, the retainer 30 is pushed into the rear side of the retainer mounting hole 18 from the temporary locking position. Then, each guide part 35 enters behind the stabilizer 45 on the left side of the male terminal fitting 40 in the figure. At this time, if any of the male terminal fittings 40 is in the half-insertion position, the tapered surface of the guide portion 35 is placed on the stabilizer 45 of the male terminal fitting 40 as shown in the male terminal fitting 40 on the right side in FIG. 38 abuts. More specifically, as shown in FIG. 14, the tapered surface 38 of the guide portion 35 abuts on an inclined surface 46 provided at the rear edge of the stabilizer 45. Then, as the retainer 30 is pushed in, the male terminal fitting 40 is pushed along the tapered surface 38 toward the back side of the cavity 13 while the tapered surface 38 and the inclined surface 46 are in sliding contact with each other.
[0016]
Thus, when the retainer 30 is pushed all the way into the retainer mounting hole 18, the male terminal fitting 40 that has been in the half-inserted state reaches the normal insertion position as with the other male terminal fittings 40 as shown in FIG. The retaining protrusion 16A of the lance 16 engages with the retaining member 44, and the primary locking is achieved. Further, the locking projection 37 of the retainer 30 engages with the holding projection 19B of the housing 11 so that the retainer 30 is held at the main locking position, and the guide portion 35 is located behind the stabilizer 45 of each male terminal fitting 40. By entering and locking, all the male terminal fittings 40 are in a secondary locked state.
[0017]
As described above, according to this embodiment, when the male terminal fitting 40 is in the half-inserted state when the retainer 30 is mounted at the full locking position, the tapered surface 38 is the rear end edge of the stabilizer 45. The male-side terminal fitting 40 is pushed into the normal insertion position while being in sliding contact with the inclined surface 46 provided on the front side. Since the inclined surface 46 of the stabilizer 45 is in sliding contact with the tapered surface 38 of the retainer 30, the resistance between the two is reduced, and the male terminal fitting 40 can be pushed in smoothly. In particular, in this embodiment, since the inclined surface 46 is rounded in a convex shape, the contact surface with the tapered surface 38 is less than that in the case where the inclined surface is formed flat, and therefore the resistance is further reduced.
[0018]
The technical scope of the present invention is not limited by the above-described embodiments, and, for example, those described below are also included in the technical scope of the present invention.
(1) In the above embodiment, the male connector 10 to which the male male terminal fitting 40 is attached is shown, but the present invention can also be applied to a female connector to which the female terminal fitting is attached. Further, the number of terminal fittings to be mounted is not limited to that of the above embodiment.
