【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、レンズ内部に装飾体を埋め込んでなる装飾部を設けた眼鏡レンズ及びその製造方法並びにその眼鏡レンズを用いた眼鏡に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来から、フレーム部、テンプル部、若しくはよろい部等に装飾を施した眼鏡はよく知られている。しかしながら、レンズ自体に何らかの装飾を施した例はあまり知られていない。これは、レンズ自体に何らかの異物を設けることは眼鏡としての機能上なじまないこと、並びに、レンズへの加工は困難であること、必要性に乏しいこと等の理由による。

しかし、近年、眼鏡レンズとしてプラスチックレンズが多く用いられるようになり、また、眼鏡に対してもそのファッション的若しくはデザイン的側面からの要望が多様化し、かつ高いレベルのものとなってきている。このため、レンズ端面に浅い溝を形成してそこに設けられる接着剤層中に顔料等を混入して装飾的効果を高めようとした試みもなされている(特許文献1、特許文献2参照)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、レンズ端面に浅い溝を設けた上記従来のものは、確かに、レンズ端面に溝を設けて装飾を施しているので、レンズ自体に装飾を施したものということはできる。しかしながら、顔料等の装飾物は、あくまでもレンズ端面の浅い溝に配置されるだけであるので、視覚的には、レンズに顔料による縁取りがなされた程度の効果しかなく、レンズ自体にデザイン的に大きな影響を及ぼす装飾があるというまでには到底いえるものでなかった。

本発明は、上述の背景のもとでなされたものであり、眼鏡全体のデザインの幅を著しく広げることを可能にした眼鏡レンズ及びその製造方法並びにその眼鏡レンズを用いた眼鏡を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上述の課題を解決するための手段として、第1の手段は、
レンズの縁部近傍に装飾部が設けられた眼鏡レンズであって、
この装飾部は、眼鏡レンズをほぼ正面から見たときにレンズの透明領域内に配置されていることを明確に視認できる程度にそのレンズの縁から光軸側に所定以上の距離を有するレンズ領域内に装飾体が設けられ、若しくは装飾が施されたものであることを特徴とする眼鏡レンズである。
第2の手段は、
前記装飾部は、眼鏡レンズの縁部端面から光軸方向に向けて形成された深溝状のスリット部内に装飾体が埋め込まれてレンズと一体に形成されているものであることを特徴とする第1の手段にかかる眼鏡レンズである。
第3の手段は、
前記スリット部は、その幅寸法よりも深さ寸法が大きくかつほぼレンズの表裏面に沿って眼鏡レンズの縁部端面から光軸方向に向けて形成されているものであることを特徴とする第2の手段にかかる眼鏡レンズである。
第4の手段は、
前記装飾体は、薄板状をなしたものであることを特徴とする第2または第3の手段にかかる眼鏡レンズである。
第5の手段は、
前記装飾体は、透明な樹脂層内に、所定の装飾形状に形成された装飾パーツが埋め込まれたものであることを特徴とする第1〜第4のいずれかの手段にかかる眼鏡レンズである。

前記装飾パーツは、薄板状に形成された薄板パーツからなることを特徴とする第5の手段にかかる眼鏡レンズである。

【発明の実施の形態】

(第1の実施形態)
図1において、この実施の形態にかかる眼鏡は、いわゆる縁なし眼鏡に本発明を適用した例であり、左右の眼鏡レンズ1、1’と、これら左右の眼鏡レンズ1、1’にそれぞれ直接固定されたヨロイ2、2’と、左右の眼鏡レンズ1、1’に直接固定されて両者を結合固定するブリッジ3と、ブリッジ3に取り付けられた左右の鼻当て4、4’とを有する。

眼鏡レンズ1、1’には、それぞれ装飾部10、10a、並びに、10’、10’aが設けられている。装飾部10と10’、並びに、装飾部10aと10’aとは、左右が逆であることを除けば同じである。また、装飾部10と10a、並びに、装飾部10’と10’aとは、設ける部位や形状等が異なる外は基本的構造が同じである。したがって、以下では、装飾部10について詳しく説明し、他の説明は省略する。

図3及び図4に示されるように、装飾部10は、その幅寸法よりも深さ寸法が大きくかつほぼレンズの表裏面に沿って眼鏡レンズの縁部端面から光軸方向に向けて形成された深溝状のスリット部11内に装飾体100が埋め込まれて接着固定されたものである。

スリット部11は、深さdが約3mm、幅tが約0.4mmである。なお、このスリット部11の寸法は、dが2〜10mm、tが0.1〜1mm程度の範囲から選定される。このスリット部11の加工は、例えば、図5に示されるように、眼鏡レンズ1を総型押さえ治具5によって固定し、メタルソー6を平行移動させることによって行なう。なお、この加工は、細いエンドミルでレンズ側面から縦に加工してもよい。その場合のレンズ固定も、レンズの縁取り加工する際にレンズ保持のためにレンズに固定されるホルダーをそのまま利用して固定するようにしてもよい。

スリット部11の加工は、図7に示されるように、眼鏡レンズ1の縁部近傍のレンズカーブが大きい場合には、そのレンズカーブに沿ってスリット部11を加工し、形成する。すなわち、例えば、眼鏡レンズの縁部近傍のレンズ面にほぼ平行な面が光軸に垂直な方向に対して角度θをなす場合には、スリット部11の深さ方向も光軸に垂直な方向に対して角度θをなすように形成する。

装飾体100は、スリット部11と形状がほぼ同じであり、また、その厚さもスリット部11の幅とほぼ同じであって、厚さ約0.4mmであり、透明な樹脂層110内に装飾パーツとしての薄板パーツ120が埋め込まれたものである。この装飾体100は、予めスリット部11内に透明な接着剤を入れておき、ついで、装飾体100をこのスリット部11に挿入し、硬化させる。これにより、図4に示されるように、装飾体100とスリット部11との間に薄い接着剤層130が形成され、装飾体100は、眼鏡レンズ1と一体となって眼鏡レンズ1に埋め込み固定される。

樹脂層110は、例えば、エポキシ等の樹脂で構成される。この樹脂層は、レンズ材質と一体感を維持するためにレンズの屈折率に近い屈折率を有する材料を用いることが望ましい。また、装飾パーツとしての薄板パーツ120は、例えば、厚さ0.1mmの24金の薄板を略変形S字型等に形成したものである。この薄板パーツ120にプラズマ洗浄を施し、濡れ性を高めると泡が付着しにくく、密着強度も向上する。薄板パーツ120に界面活性剤を塗布しても同じような効果が得られる。この薄板パーツ120としては、他の金属、例えば、銀、白金、ロジウム、その他、これらの合金の薄板等を用いることができる。また、樹脂製薄板や樹脂製フィルム(例えば模様が写し込まれたポジフィルム、カラーフィルム等)を用いることができる。さらには、樹脂層110内に埋め込む装飾パーツとしては、薄板パーツ120のかわりに、装飾性のあるものであれば何でも用いることができる。例えば、宝石、繊維、若しくは紙等でもよい。

装飾体100は、例えば、以下のようにして製作する。すなわち、図8に示されるように、樹脂のフィルム111に透明な樹脂112を塗布し、そこに薄板パーツ120を埋め込み、脱泡し、硬化させる。あるいは樹脂のフィルム111に樹脂112を塗布し、そこに薄板パーツ120を置き、薄板パーツ120上にさらに樹脂112を塗布してから硬化させる。硬化後、樹脂112ごと必要形状に切り取る。切り取る際、フィルム111をつけたままか、フィルム111から剥がすかはどちらでもよい。この方法だと気泡が上方に抜けるため、真空脱泡が容易である。使用するフィルム111としては、例えば、PETを用いることができる。フィルム111は、透明性があれば、その素材は特に限定されない。色がついていてもよい。樹脂112としては、例えば、エポキシを用いることができるが、透明性があれば、その素材は特に限定されない。色がついていてもよい。なお、白濁を減らすためにも、レンズ素材の屈折率に近い屈折率をもつ樹脂を用いることが望ましい。

また、別の方法として、図9に示されるように、フィルム111に樹脂112を塗布し、そこに薄板パーツ120を埋め込み、さらにななめ上からフィルム113をかけてゆくことにより、ラミネートしながら気泡を追い出す(プレパラートをつくる方法と同様)。硬化後、フィルムごと必要形状に切り出す。この方法によると、装飾体100の厚みのコントロールが容易である。

さらに、他の方法として、図10、図11及び図12に示されるように、ポリアセタール等の難接着性の材料でつくられた型部71が多数形成された型治具7を用い、型部71内に粘度の低い透明な樹脂を流して、真空脱泡しながら硬化させる。これにより、薄板パーツ120が一方の端部よりに埋め込まれた薄板状の装飾体パーツ1000が得られる。なお、本例では、型部71をポリアセタールで作成したが、型の材質は、ポッティングする樹脂と接着性が低ければ特に限定されない。一般的にポリエチレン等は接着性が低い。

この方法によれば、硬化後樹脂を必要形状に切り出すことも必要なく、型の決まった場所に薄板パーツ120をポッティングすることができる。また上方が開放されているため容易に真空脱泡できる。さらには窪みの厚さが一定であるため、装飾体100のプレートの厚みのコントロールも容易である。

図14に示されるように、こうして得られた装飾体パーツ1000は、メタルソー6によって眼鏡レンズ1に形成されたスリット部11(図4及び図5参照)に挿入され、接着固定される。すなわち、スリット部11内に、透明接着剤が充填又は塗布され、これに装飾体パーツ1000の薄板パーツ120が埋め込まれた部位がスリット部11内に配置されるように挿入して、脱泡等を行なった後、接着剤を硬化させる。しかる後、スリット部11からはみ出た部分を切削工具等で除去し、必要に応じて端面研摩を施して、装飾部10が形成された眼鏡レンズ1を得る。

以上説明した実施の形態にかかる眼鏡レンズ及び眼鏡は、スリット部11の幅とほぼ同じ厚さを有する装飾体100となる部分を含む装飾体パーツ1000を予め作成してこれをスリット部11に挿入して接着固定するようにしていることから、接着剤や樹脂の硬化中に、樹脂の密着強度の低下や審美性低下につながる気泡が発生して残るようなおそれがない。また、接着剤や樹脂は硬化時に体積が減少する場合があるが、装飾体パーツを接着固定するための接着剤や樹脂の量が少ないため、その影響は少ない。また、薄板パーツ120の配置位置も、予定した位置に容易に正確に配置することが可能である。なお、本実施形態では、装飾体100はスリット部11の幅とほぼ同じ厚さにしたが、これに限定られず、装飾体100を薄くして、その分樹脂や接着剤を充填してもよい。

(第2の実施形態)
次に、本発明の第2の実施形態について説明する。第1の実施形態では、予め薄板状に形成した装飾体をスリット部11に埋め込む例を示したが、この第2の実施形態は、薄板状に形成する手順を行なわずに薄板パーツ120を直接スリット部11に埋め込む例である。眼鏡レンズ1へのスリット部11の形成方法は第1の実施形態と同じであり、使用する薄板パーツ120も同じである。

まず、スリット部11に埋め込む薄板パーツ120を用意し、濡れ性を高めるための濡れ性向上処理を行なう。濡れ性向上処理としては、本実施形態では、薄板パーツ120の表面にプラズマを照射して表面の洗浄・表面改質をすることにより行った(以下本明細書中ではプラズマ処理と称する)。このプラズマ処理は、市販のプラズマ照射装置により短時間で処理することができ、樹脂との密着強度も向上できることからより好ましい。なお、濡れ性向上処理方法は特にこれに限定せず、例えば薄板パーツ120に界面活性剤を塗布するという方法でもよい。

次に、予めスリット部11の内部を清掃した眼鏡レンズ1をスリット部11の底がほぼ水平になるように配置し、前記濡れ性向上処理を施した薄板パーツ120をスリット部11内に置き、この状態で樹脂112をスリット部11に注入する。本実施形態ではスリット部11の両側は開放しているが、スリットの幅が狭いため、注入した樹脂112は表面張力によりスリット部11内に保持される。

注入する樹脂112としては、低粘度で、透明性が高く、耐候(光)性が高いものがよく、さらには、レンズ素材と近い屈折率(1.5〜1.8)や硬度(60〜85ショアD)を有するものがよい。実施形態では透明で屈折率1.5〜1.7を有するニ液混合型のエポキシ樹脂(接着剤)を使用した。この樹脂112の粘度は主剤が約200cP、硬化剤が約3000cPであり、これを主剤:硬化剤=2:1で混合し(混合後の粘度は約900cP)、低圧雰囲気で脱泡した後、スリット部11内に注入した。

低粘度の樹脂112を使用すると、スリット部11内に樹脂112を注入する際に気泡が生じにくい。好ましい粘度範囲は100〜5000cPである。また、注入する樹脂112は、本実施形態のように予め低圧雰囲気中で脱泡処理をしておくとスリット部11内に気泡が生じにくいのでより好ましい。また、レンズ素材の屈折率に近い屈折率を有する材料を用いると、樹脂112とレンズ素材との境目が目立たなく、レンズ材質との一体感が増し、また、スリット部11形成時の切削面の白濁を少なくすることができるため望ましい。

なお、使用する樹脂112はこれに限定せず、また、光硬化型の樹脂や熱硬化型の樹脂でもよい。

光硬化型の樹脂としては例えばアクリル系光硬化樹脂(屈折率1.5〜1.8)を挙げることができる。なお、眼鏡レンズ1自体に紫外線透過防止の処理をしている場合には、紫外線硬化型の樹脂を使用すると眼鏡レンズ1を透過させてスリット部11に紫外線を照射しても硬化させることが難しいが、可視光硬化型の樹脂であれば、そのような場合でも樹脂を硬化させることが出来るので好ましい。

また、熱硬化性樹脂を使用する場合は、レンズ素材やレンズに施されたコーティングに熱によるダメージを与えないような温度で硬化させる必要があり、約60℃以下で硬化させることが好ましい。

図15は上記本発明の第2の実施形態により装飾部を形成する方法の説明図である。
図15に示されるように、注入に際しては、例えば、先端に注入針81を備えた注入装置8を用いる。この注入針81としては、例えば、注射針等を用いることができるが、スリット幅より細くかつスリットの深さ程度以上の長さのノズルの先端から注入するようにできれば他のものでもよい。なお、注入はゆっくり行なう方が、樹脂112内に気泡が生じにくいという点で望ましい。

このようにして樹脂112を充填した後、必要により薄板パーツ120の位置を調整する。また、この状態で、眼鏡レンズ1を低圧雰囲気中に入れ、スリット部11内の樹脂112を脱泡してもよい。また、樹脂112の量が不足している場合は足してもよい。

次に充填した樹脂112を硬化する。本実施形態では、室温で数時間硬化させた後、さらに眼鏡レンズ1に影響のない高温雰囲気中(約50℃)に数時間放置し硬化させた。硬化後スリット部11からはみ出している樹脂112はエッジャーにより削り、また、スリット部11付近のレンズ端面を磨き眼鏡レンズ1は完成する。

このような方法により作成すると、スリット部11内に気泡を生じさせないようにすることができ、特に、凹凸があるような形状の薄板パーツ120を用いる場合でも、予め濡れ性向上処理を施しているので気泡が生じにくい。また、第1の実施形態のような薄板状の装飾体パーツを作成する手順が必要ないため手間がかからないという利点もある。

なお、上記方法ではスリット部11に薄板パーツ120を予め入れておいた状態で樹脂112を充填したが、先に樹脂112を充填し、そこに予め濡れ性向上処理を施した薄板パーツ120をスリット部11の開口部から挿入し所定の位置に配置してもよい。この場合、薄板パーツ120はゆっくり挿入する方が気泡が入り難くより好ましい。このような方法の場合、薄板パーツ120が配置されていない状態で樹脂112をスリット部11に注入できるため、樹脂112の注入作業が容易であるという利点がある。また、樹脂112の充填後であって薄板パーツ120挿入前にスリット部11に充填された樹脂を脱泡処理することも可能である。

このように、本発明の方法でレンズ内部に装飾品を埋め込むことにより、レンズの凸面や凹面をフラットにすることができるとともに、装飾品がレンズの基材で保護されているため、レンズを溶剤等で拭いても、装飾品を剥がしたり傷めたりすることがない。したがって、繊維や紙といった物理的強度や耐候性がきわめて低いものであっても、装飾品として使用することが可能になる。

なお、上記実施の形態では、本発明をリムレス眼鏡に適用した例を掲げたが、本発明は、リムレスだけに限定されるのではなく、フルリム、リムロン等々、眼鏡の形式にはとらわれずに適用できることは勿論である。また、装飾体100として、薄板パーツ120等の装飾パーツを樹脂層に埋め込んだものを用いる例を示したが、これは、例えば、樹脂層全体に顔料を分散させたものでもよい。さらには、装飾体100に相当するものを用いることなく、顔料や金粉その他を分散させる等した樹脂を直接スリット部11に満たして硬化させてもよい。さらには、装飾効果の高い加工が施された薄板、塊状装飾物、宝石その他をスリット部11に挿入し、透明樹脂あるいはカラー樹脂樹脂て固めてもよい。

また、上記実施の形態では、眼鏡レンズ1にスリット部11を形成してそこに装飾体100を埋め込んだり、薄板パーツ120を直接埋め込んだりして装飾部10を形成した例を示したが、レンズ表面に装飾体100を接着固定したり、あるいはレンズ表面に彫刻等の装飾を施してもよい。例えば、カラーフィルムを装飾部10に対応する領域に貼り付けたり、あるいは、様々な切り抜き模様を形成したフィルムを貼り付けたりしてもよい。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したように、本発明は、レンズの縁部近傍に装飾部が設けられた眼鏡レンズであって、この装飾部は、眼鏡レンズをほぼ正面から見たときにレンズの透明領域内に配置されていることを明確に視認できる程度にそのレンズの縁から光軸側のレンズ領域内に装飾体が設けられ、若しくは装飾が施されたものであることを特徴とするもので、眼鏡全体のデザインの幅を著しく広げることを可能にした眼鏡レンズ及びその製造方法並びにその眼鏡レンズを用いた眼鏡を提供することである。
