本発明は、情報配信システム及び情報配信方法に関し、特に、インターネットを利用可能な環境において、FTP(File Transfer Protocol)サーバに置かれた配信情報をダイヤルアップルータが自動で取得する場合に好適な情報配信システム及び情報配信方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、インターネット上では、電子メールを配信する情報配信サービスや、ホームページによる各種情報提供サービスがある。電子メールの配信に関する従来例としては、例えば特開平11−88408号公報に記載の技術が提案されている。同公報には、常時インターネットと接続されていない家庭用PCからダイアルアップ接続を行う電子メールのユーザに対し、電子メールが配信された時に、インターネット側よりホームPCとIP接続する代理サーバ装置と、電子メールを自動的にホームPCに接続する手段を備えた電子メールシステムが開示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記従来例においては、上述したようにインターネット上では電子メールの情報配信サービスがあるが、それには次のような問題点があった。

第一に、不定期に電子メールが配信される場合、サービスの利用者は、新規の電子メールが配信されているか否かを確認するために、利用者が所持するパーソナルコンピュータ(以下パソコンと略称)の起動及び回線の接続を行う必要がある。

第二に、サービスの提供者は、サービスの利用者毎に個別のメールアカウント情報を管理する必要がある。

また、上述したようにインターネット上ではホームページによる各種情報提供サービスが存在するが、それには次のような問題点があった。

第一に、不定期にホームページが更新される場合、サービスの利用者は、ホームページが更新されているか否かを確認するために、利用者が所持するパソコンの起動及び回線の接続を行う必要がある。

第二に、サービスの提供者は、サービスの利用者毎に個別のユーザIDとパスワード情報を管理をする必要がある。

第三に、ホームページ巡回ソフトウェアを使用すれば、ホームページの更新をパソコン上から自動で確認できるが、これの使用時には、パソコンを起動させておく必要がある。

本発明の目的は、被配信者は端末を起動せずにインターネット上から新規に配信情報を取得したか否かを容易に確認することができ、配信情報の提供者は被配信者毎に個別の情報を管理することができる情報配信システム及び情報配信方法を提供するものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明によれば、コンピュータをインターネットに接続するためのルータにおいて、FTPサーバにログインするためのID及びパスワードを格納している第1格納手段と、前記格納手段から前記ID及び前記パスワードを読み出し、該ID及び該パスワードを利用して、前記FTPサーバにログインするログイン手段と、前記FTPサーバから、該FTPサーバに格納されているファイルの一覧情報を取得する一覧情報取得手段と、前記一覧情報取得手段が新たに取得した新たな一覧情報と、前記一覧情報取得手段が前回取得した古い一覧情報を比較することにより、前記FTPサーバに新たに格納されたファイルを検出する検出手段と、前記検出手段により新たなファイルであることが検出されたファイルのみを前記FTPサーバから受信する受信手段と、前記受信手段が受信したファイルを格納する第2格納手段と、前記検出手段により新たなファイルであることが検出されたファイルを前記FTPサーバから受信した旨を表示する表示手段と、を備えるルータであって、前記検出手段は、古い一覧情報に含まれるファイルの日付が新たな一覧情報に含まれる同一ファイルの日付よりも古い場合には、前記FTPサーバにそのファイルが新たに格納されたと判断し、且つ、古い一覧情報に含まれないファイルが新たな一覧表示に含まれている場合には、前記FTPサーバにそのファイルが新たに格納されたと判断することを特徴とするルータが提供される。

[第1実施形態]
次に、本発明の第1実施形態について図面を参照して詳細に説明する。

(1)構成の説明
本発明の第1実施形態のダイヤルアップルータ8は、図1に示す如く、表示部1、表示回路2、記憶部3、コンピュータ回路4、時計回路5、回線とのインターフェイス部6、パソコンとのインターフェイス部7を具備している。また、本発明の第1実施形態のインターネット利用環境は、図2に示す如く、パソコン9、ダイヤルアップルータ8、網終端装置14、ISDN(Integrated Services Digital Network)回線10、網終端装置15、ルータ16、FTPサーバ11、端末17から構成されている。

上記構成を詳述すると、図1において、表示部1は、例えば発光ダイオードまたは液晶ディスプレイなどから構成されており、配信情報を取得したか否かについて被配信者に通知する表示を行う。表示回路2は、コンピュータ回路4からの表示の指示を受信し、指示に従い表示部1を制御する。時計回路5は、現在時刻の値を保持しており、これらをコンピュータ回路4に与える。コンピュータ回路4は、自動情報取得に関する情報の送受信の指示を行う。

図2において、パソコン9は、被配信者がダイヤルアップルータ8へ自動情報取得を行うのに必要な情報の設定、及び自動情報取得により取得した配信情報の内容確認に使用する。FTPサーバ11は、端末17から送信された配信情報ファイルを記憶している。配信情報ファイルは、ヘッダと本文から成る。ヘッダは、配信が行われた日時、後述の本文の概要などからなる。本文は配信情報の本体である。FTPサーバ11は、ダイヤルアップルータ8から送信要求があれば配信情報ファイルを送信する。

(2)動作の説明
次に、本発明の第1実施形態の動作について図1〜図3を参照して詳細に説明する。

図1及び図2を参照すると、本発明の第1実施形態では、記憶部3は、FTPサーバ11の名称、FTPサーバ11へ接続するポート番号、FTPサーバ11へ接続するためのユーザIDとパスワードを製造時に記憶している。これら製造時に記憶している情報は、ダイヤルアップルータ8の個体によらず、全てのダイヤルアップルータ8で同じ情報を記憶している。

第2の効果は、予め配信情報取得装置の記憶手段に記憶されている配信情報管理装置へ接続するためのユーザIDとパスワードは、全ての配信情報取得装置の記憶手段に同じ情報が記憶されているため、配信情報の提供者は、被配信者数に関わらず、ユーザIDとパスワードは一組のみを管理すればよい。そのため、配信情報の提供者は、被配信者毎に個別の情報を管理する必要はない。
