本発明は、像担持体着脱機構及びこれを備えたカラー画像形成装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来のカラー画像形成装置(カラープリンタ、カラー複写機等)においては、複数の画像形成部を搬送方向に並列配置し、画像形成部内の像担持体(例えば感光体ドラム)上にそれぞれ形成された異なる色のトナー像を搬送ベルト上に保持された記録媒体上に順次転写する方式が各種提案されている。また、複数の画像形成部を搬送方向に並列配置し、画像形成部内の感光体ドラム上にそれぞれ形成された異なる色のトナー像を中間転写体上に順次転写して一次転写像を重畳形成した後、前記一次転写像を搬送ベルト上に保持された記録媒体上に二次転写する方式も提案されている。

上記複数の感光体ドラムを有するタンデム型のカラー画像形成装置は、複数の感光体ドラムの一回転でカラー画像を形成するため、単一の感光体ドラムを複数回回転させてカラー画像を形成する多回転方式のカラー画像形成装置と比べて、高速にフルカラー画像を出力できるというメリットがあり、高速カラー画像形成装置の主流になっている。

そして、上記複数の感光体ドラムを有するタンデム型のカラー画像形成装置は、複数の感光体ドラムあるいは複数の現像器をメンテナンスや寿命のため装置本体から取り外す必要がある。このような複数の感光体ドラムあるいは複数の現像器を取り外すための機構として、複数の感光体ドラムごとに専用の位置決め/固定具を設け、複数の感光体ドラムごとに位置決め/固定具を操作して着脱可能にする機構が提案されている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。また、複数の感光体ドラムと複数の現像器とを一括して装置本体から引き出し、この後に複数の感光体ドラムあるいは複数の現像器を着脱可能にさせる機構も提案されている(例えば、特許文献2参照)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、かかる従来の技術では以下の問題が生じる。

すなわち、上記複数の感光体ドラムごとに専用の位置決め/固定具を設ける場合は、感光体ドラムを着脱可能とするために感光体ドラム毎に位置決め/固定具の操作を行う必要があるので、複数分の専用位置決め/固定具が必要になり、また複数分の操作時間が必要になるという問題が生ずる。

一方、上記複数の感光体ドラムと複数の現像器とを一括して装置本体から引き出す場合は、確かに一括して装置本体から引き出して作業をするので操作性は向上するが、実際の着脱作業は、感光体ドラム毎に位置決め/固定具の操作を行う必要があるので、複数分の専用位置決め/固定具が必要になり、また複数分の操作時間が必要になるという問題が生ずる。

本発明は、かかる問題点に鑑みて為されたものであり、大掛かりな機構を必要とせず、一回の簡単な操作で確実に複数の像担持体を装置本体から着脱可能にすることができる像担持体着脱機構及びこれを備えたカラー画像形成装置を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は、装置本体に対して軸方向に着脱自在に取付られた複数の像担持体と、この像担持体と同軸方向に対向配置された現像ローラを有し装置本体に回動自在に保持される複数の現像器と、この現像器の現像ローラを前記像担持体に押圧離接する複数の押圧離接部材を保持する保持部材と、この保持部材に連結する連結部材とを具備し、前記保持部材と前記連結部材とに互いを斜行連結する連結部を設けて前記連結部材を前記像担持体軸方向に移動させることにより前記保持部材を前記現像ローラ軸方向と直交する方向に移動させて前記複数の押圧離接部材により前記複数の像担持体と前記複数の現像ローラとの現像間隙の設定/解除を行うものである。

本発明の第1の態様に係る像担持体着脱機構は、装置本体に対して軸方向に着脱自在に取付られた複数の像担持体と、この像担持体と同軸方向に対向配置された現像ローラを有し装置本体に回動自在に保持される複数の現像器と、この現像器の現像ローラを前記像担持体に押圧離接する複数の押圧離接部材を保持する保持部材と、この保持部材に連結する連結部材とを具備し、前記保持部材と前記連結部材とに互いを斜行連結する連結部を設けて前記連結部材を前記像担持体軸方向に移動させることにより前記保持部材を前記現像ローラ軸方向と直交する方向に移動させて前記複数の押圧離接部材により前記複数の像担持体と前記複数の現像ローラとの現像間隙の設定/解除を行う構成を採る。

図1は、本発明の一実施の形態に係る像担持体着脱機構としての感光体ドラム着脱機構が適用されるカラー画像形成装置100の概略構成図である。図1に示すように、本カラー画像形成装置100は、上部に原稿の読み取りを行う読取ユニット101を備え、その下方に給紙、転写、記録、定着の処理を実行する本体ユニット102を備える。
