Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、ＰＯＳなどで利用され
るバーコードリーダに関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】バーコードシンボルには、商品雑貨用コ
ードとして構成桁数が一定であるＪＡＮ、ＥＡＮ、ＵＰ
Ｃコードと、ＦＡ、物流、ＯＡ用のコードとして構成桁
数が不定であるＣｏｄｅ３９、Ｃｏｄｅ１２８、ＮＷ
７、ＩＴＦなどがある。さらに前記の各種コードを複数
段用いた多段バーコードシンボルや、構成桁数は一定
で、段数が２から８まで可変であるＣｏｄｅ４９などの
２次元バーコードシンボルがある。
【０００３】従来より、桁数が一定であるバーコードシ
ンボルの読み取りの場合、ペン式バーコードリーダより
イメージセンサを用いたバーコードリーダがよく用いら
れていた。すなわち、商品雑貨用コードでは、袋物や缶
物に印字または添付されているように、必ずしも表面が
堅くフラットなバーコードシンボルであるとは限らない
ので、ペン式のようにオペレータがバーコードシンボル
にバーコードリーダを接触させながらしかも一定速度で
読み取らせなければならないものより、１０数mmの読み
取り深度を持ち、かつ読み取り口をバーコードシンボル
上に静止させるだけでイメージセンサの電気的な自己走
査により読み取るイメージセンサ式のものが好まれたわ
けである。
【０００４】一方、桁数が不定であるコードを読み取る
場合、その読み取り桁方向の長さは１５cmから２０cmに
およぶものもあり、また表面が堅くフラットなものの上
に印字または添付されていることから、イメージセンサ
式では読み取り口幅の極めて大きいものを必要とするこ
とに加え、読み取り精度や操作性に問題があり、ペン式
のバーコードリーダが用いられていた。
【０００５】
【発明が解決しようとする課題】近年バーコードシステ
ムの進展にともない、小売、ＦＡ、ＯＡ、物流の用途に
おいて袋物のような表面の柔らかいものにつけられたＪ
ＡＮ、ＥＡＮ、ＵＰＣバーコードシンボルとＣｏｄｅ３
９、Ｃｏｄｅ１２８、ＮＷ７、ＩＴＦのような構成桁数
が不定長のバーコードシンボルとが混在することが見受
けられるようになった。
【０００６】これに対応するため、ペン式とイメージセ
ンサ式の２種類バーコードリーダを用意しなければなら
ずこの使い分けの煩雑さ、ホストへの接続および２種類
のバーコードリーダを揃えるためのコスト上の問題があ
り、システム展開の大きなネックになっていた。
【０００７】本発明は、これらの課題を解決するもの
で、１台で任意の読み取り桁方向の長さを持つ各種のバ
ーコードシンボルを読み取るバーコードリーダを提供す
ることを目的とする。
【０００８】
【課題を解決するための手段】上記の目的を達成するた
め本発明のバーコードリーダは、バーコードラベル上に
光を照射する投光手段と、前記バーコードラベルからの
反射光をイメージセンサ上に結像する受光手段と、前記
イメージセンサの出力信号を処理する処理手段と、前記
処理手段の出力値にもとづいて、バーコードシンボルを
解読する解読手段を備えたバーコードリーダであって、
前記バーコードラベルに対する前記イメージセンサ全体
を使用した読み取りと、イメージセンサの一部分を使用
した読み取りのいずれかを予め選択しておく選択手段を
備え、任意の読み取り桁方向の長さを持つ各種のバーコ
ードシンボルを読み取るようにしたものである。
【０００９】
【作用】上記構成において、バーコードシンボルの種類
に応じて切り替えスイッチやホストからの外部信号、あ
るいはバーコードリーダ自身の判断による内部信号によ
ってイメージセンサ全体を使用して読み取らすか、その
一部を使用して読み取らすかを選択することとなる。

【実施例】以下に本発明の一実施例を図面を用いて説明
する。図１に本発明のバーコードリーダの構成を示す。
ここで１は、バーコードラベル上の２次元バーコードシ
ンボルである。バーコードリーダ１４は、前記バーコー
ドシンボル１を照射する投光部２を備え、バーコードシ
ンボル１において反射した光を反射ミラー３、受光レン
ズ４を介してリニアイメージセンサ５に与えるようにし
ている。６は回路部である。本実施例における投光部２
は波長６６０nmのＬＥＤを線上に複数配置して構成して
いる。またリニアイメージセンサ５は３６４８ピクセル
のＣＣＤリニアイメージセンサよりなり、受光レンズ４
で結像された像を電気信号に変換する。また回路部６は
波形処理回路と、解読手段の実行を行うマイクロプロセ
ッサとで構成され、マイクロプロセッサはＲＯＭ６４Ｋ
バイト、ＲＡＭ２Ｋバイトを内蔵している。
【００１１】なおバーコードシンボル１は、１次元バー
コードシンボル、２次元バーコードシンボル、多段バー
コードシンボルあるいはそれらの組み合わせたものであ
っても構わない。またイメージセンサは、電荷結合素子
（ＣＣＤ）イメージセンサ、電荷注入素子（ＣＤＩ）イ
メージセンサ、その他の光応答性の素子でもよい。ま
た、その配列は、リニアイメージセンサのように、直線
上に存在するものでも、エリアイメージセンサのように
面上に存在するものでもよい。
【００１２】図２は回路部６の内容を示したものであ
る。７はリニアイメージセンサ５からの出力信号を増幅
二値化処理する波形処理回路で、アナログ出力値に応じ
て“Ｈ”、“Ｌ”のデジタル信号に変換する。これら波
形処理回路７は、オペアンプなどで構成した増幅回路８
と、同じくオペアンプなどで構成したフィルタ回路９
と、同じくオペアンプなどで構成した二値化回路１０か
らなる。１１はイメージセンサ全体を使用して読み取る
か、一部分を使用して読み取るかの選択回路で、カウン
タで構成されており、カウンタの値により、使用するイ
メージセンサの使用部分が決められる。このような構成
にすることにより、使用するイメージセンサの使用部分
を可変とすることができる。またその選択回路の設定は
設定手段１３でなされる。これはケースに取り付けたス
イッチであっても、ホストからの外部信号によるもので
も、マイクロプロセッサ１２からの指令による自動選択
でもよい。マイクロプロセッサ１２はバーコードシンボ
ルの解読処理とホストとの通信処理などを行っている。
なお図２には、投光部のＬＥＤや読み取り完了のブザー
の制御回路は省略して示してある。なお本実施例では、
選択手段として上記のようなカウンタを用いた構成とし
たがこれは一例にすぎず、たとえばイメージセンサの特
定の一部分の出力信号を、波形処理回路７で処理して、
両方のデータをマイクロプロセッサ１２に入力して、マ
イクロプロセッサ１２で選択処理することも可能であ
る。
【００１３】図３は本発明によるバーコードリーダ１４
を用いて読み取り口幅以上の桁数を有するバーコードシ
ンボルを読み取る場合を示している。すなわち、イメー
ジセンサの一部を使用して読み取る場合、ケースのスイ
ッチまたはホストからの通信によりモードを設定し、図
３(a) に示すように、バーコードリーダ１４またはバー
コードシンボル１を走査することにより読み取りが可能
となる。また図３(b)に示すように走査することも可能
である。図３(b) に示すように読み取らせた場合、モー
ドの設定はイメージセンサのなかで読み取り対象のバー
コードシンボル１の占める割合をもとに、バーコードリ
ーダ１４の読み取り口幅より長いか、短いかを自動的に
判断させて自動選択することもできる。

【発明の効果】以上の実施例の説明より明らかなよう
に、本発明はイメージセンサの全体を使用して読み取る
か、イメージセンサの一部を使用して読み取るかを読み
取り対象のバーコードシンボルに合わせて選択できるの
で、通常のイメージセンサでは読み取り困難な桁数が多
い長く、バーコード読み取り口よりも長いコードから袋
物や缶物につけられたペン式では読み取り困難なものま
で１台のバーコードリーダで読み取らせることができ、
操作性の向上と経済的な効果は絶大であり、工業的な効
果も大なるものがある。

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 バーコードラベル上に光を照射する投光
    手段と、前記バーコードラベルからの反射光をイメージ
    センサ上に結像する受光手段と、前記イメージセンサの
    出力信号を処理する処理手段と、前記処理手段の出力値
    にもとづいて、バーコードシンボルを解読する解読手段
    を備えたバーコードリーダであって、前記バーコードラ
    ベルに対する前記イメージセンサ全体を使用して読み取
    るか、イメージセンサの一部分を使用して読み取るかの
    いずれかを、予め選択しておく選択手段を備えたバーコ
    ードリーダ。
  2. 【請求項２】 イメージセンサとしてリニアイメージセ
    ンサを使用した請求項１に記載のバーコードリーダ。
  3. 【請求項３】 イメージセンサとしてエリアイメージセ
    ンサを使用した請求項１に記載のバーコードリーダ。
  4. 【請求項４】 バーコードリーダの読み取り口幅よりも
    長いバーコードシンボルを解読する解読手段を備えた請
    求項１に記載のバーコードリーダ。
  5. 【請求項５】 イメージセンサの使用部分を可変とした
    請求項１、２、３、４のいずれかに記載のバーコードリ
    ーダ。
  6. 【請求項６】 １次元バーコードシンボルを解読する解
    読手段もしくは２次元バーコードシンボルを解読する解
    読手段もしくは多段バーコードシンボルを解読する解読
    手段のうち少なくとも１つを備えた請求項１に記載のバ
    ーコードリーダ。
  7. 【請求項７】 外部信号によって設定する設定手段によ
    り、前記選択手段による選択を行う請求項１に記載のバ
    ーコードリーダ。
  8. 【請求項８】 ケースに設けた外部信号によって設定す
    る設定手段により、前記選択手段による選択を行う請求
    項１に記載のバーコードリーダ。
  9. 【請求項９】 バーコードリーダに接続したホストから
    の外部信号によって設定する設定手段により、前記選択
    手段による選択を行う請求項１に記載のバーコードリー
    ダ。
  10. 【請求項１０】 イメージセンサ全体が出力信号を作り
    出す第１の操作モードとイメージセンサの一部が前記イ
    メージセンサ全体が作り出すよりも小なる出力信号を作
    り出す第２の操作モードとにより入射光に対応して信号
    を出力するイメージセンサと、バーコードシンボルを有
    するバーコードラベル上に光を照射する投光手段と、前
    記バーコードラベルから反射した光を前記イメージセン
    サ上に結像する受光手段と、前記受光手段によってイメ
    ージセンサ上に結像された光に対応して前記イメージセ
    ンサによって出力された出力信号を処理する信号処理手
    段と、前記信号処理手段からの処理された出力に基づい
    て前記バーコードラベル上の前記バーコードシンボルを
    解読する解読手段と、前記バーコードラベルを読み取る
    操作モードとして第１の操作モードもしくは第２の操作
    モードを予め選択しておく選択手段とを備え、解読手段
    が１次元バーコードシンボルと２次元バーコードシンボ
    ルに加えて多段バーコードシンボルを解読するバーコー
    ドリーダ。
  11. 【請求項１１】 イメージセンサ全体が出力信号を作り
    出す第１の操作モードとイメージセンサの一部が前記イ
    メージセンサ全体が作り出すよりも小なる出力信号を作
    り出す第２の操作モードとにより入射光に対応して信号
    を出力するイメージセンサと、バーコードシンボルを有
    するバーコードラベル上に光を照射する投光手段と、前
    記バーコードラベルから反射した光を前記イメージセン
    サ上に結像する受光手段と、前記受光手段によってイメ
    ージセンサ上に結像された光に対応して前記イメージセ
    ンサによって出力された出力信号を処理する信号処理手
    段と、前記信号処理手段からの処理された出力に基づい
    て前記バーコードラベル上の前記バーコードシンボルを
    解読する解読手段と、前記バーコードラベルを読み取る
    操作モードとして前記解読手段がイメージセンサの視野
    の範囲内で決定したバーコードシンボルの形に応じて第
    １の操作モードもしくは第２の操作モードを前記バーコ
    ードシンボルを読みとる前に予め選択しておくよう制御
    する選択手段を備えたバーコードリーダ。
