Claims (21)
- システムであって、
ニューロモジュレータであって、
患者から離れて電磁(EM)波を発生させるように、かつ前記EM波を前記患者内の1つ以上の標的領域に向けるように構成されたEM波発生器であって、前記EM波の周波数は、ニューロンを活性化させる周波数の範囲の外側にあり、各標的領域内での前記EM波の交差部は、ニューロンを活性化させる周波数の前記範囲の内側にある1つ以上の周波数を有するエンベロープ変調された電場及び磁場を作り出す、EM波発生器と、
前記EM波発生器によって生成される前記EM波のパラメータを制御するように構成された制御回路と、を含む、ニューロモジュレータを備える、システム。 - 前記EM波の前記周波数が約150kHzよりも大きく、前記エンベロープ変調された電場及び磁場の周波数が約100kHz未満である、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記制御回路が、前記EM波の1つ以上のパラメータを制御して、前記標的領域内の前記エンベロープ変調された電場及び磁場の1つ以上の特性を変化させるように構成されている、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記エンベロープ変調された電場及び磁場の前記特性を変化させる前記1つ以上のパラメータが、周波数、位相、及び振幅を含み、
前記エンベロープ変調された電場及び磁場の前記1つ以上の特性が、周波数、振幅、及び変調度を含む、請求項3に記載のシステム。 - 前記EM波発生器が、複数のEM波を発生させるように構成されたフェーズドアレイを含み、
前記複数のEM波が、前記複数のEM波を前記標的領域に集束させる及び/又はステアリングする強め合う及び弱め合う干渉を受けるように、前記制御回路が、前記複数のEM波の1つ以上のパラメータを制御するように構成されている、請求項1に記載のシステム。 - 前記エンベロープ変調された電場の振幅が、神経活性化の閾値を超える、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記エンベロープ変調された電場の振幅が、前記標的領域内のニューロンの活性化の閾値を下回る、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 外側のニューロンを活性化させることなく内側のニューロンが前記ニューロモジュレーションデバイスによって活性化される最小体積が、約125cm3未満である、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記エンベロープ変調された電場の最大振幅が前記標的領域内にある、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 患者情報を追加のデバイスから前記ニューロモジュレーションデバイスに転送するように構成された通信回路を更に備え、
前記制御回路が、前記患者情報に基づいて、前記第1及び第2のEM波のうちの少なくとも一方のパラメータを修正するように構成されている、請求項1に記載のシステム。 - 前記患者情報が、感知された生理学的信号を含む、請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記患者情報が患者提供の入力に基づく、請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記標的領域内での神経活動によって生じた神経活動信号によって変調されたEM波を受信するように構成された受信器を更に備える、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記制御回路が、
前記神経活動信号によって変調された前記EM波から前記神経活動信号を抽出し、
前記神経活動信号に基づいて前記EM波のパラメータを制御する、ように構成されている、請求項13に記載のシステム。 - 方法であって、
患者から離れた場所で電磁(EM)波を発生させることであって、前記EM波の周波数が、ニューロンを活性化させる周波数の範囲の外側にある、ことと、
前記EM波を前記患者内の1つ以上の標的領域に向けることと、
前記EM波を前記標的領域内で交差させることであって、各標的領域内において、前記EM波の交差部が、ニューロンを活性化させる周波数の前記範囲の内側にある周波数を有するエンベロープ変調された電場及び磁場を作り出す、ことと、を含む、方法。 - 前記第1及び第2のEM波の1つ以上のパラメータを制御して、前記標的領域内の前記エンベロープ変調された電場及び磁場の1つ以上の特性を変化させることを更に含む、請求項15に記載の方法。
- 前記標的領域内での神経活動によって生じた神経活動信号によって変調されたEM波を受信することを更に含む、請求項15に記載の方法。
- 神経活動信号によって変調された前記EM波に基づいて前記第1及び第2のEM波のパラメータを修正することを更に含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 追加のデバイスから転送された患者情報に基づいて前記第1及び第2のEM波のパラメータを修正することを更に含む、請求項15に記載の方法。
- 前記追加のデバイスが、前記患者内に埋め込まれた又は前記患者に取り付けられた生理学的センサである、請求項19に記載の方法。
- 前記追加の装置は、前記患者が前記患者情報を入力することを可能にするユーザインターフェースを含み、
前記パラメータを修正することが、前記患者によって入力された情報に基づいて前記パラメータを修正することを含む、請求項19に記載の方法。
