この発明は、複数のチューナを使用して無線放送を受信する受信装置およびその受信方法に関し、特にチャンネルのスキャンや切り替えに要する時間を短縮可能な受信装置および受信方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
近年、映像番組をデジタル化して放送するデジタルテレビ放送が実用化されている。デジタル放送では、高画質化、多チャンネル化、双方向化が実現できるという利点があるので、従来から衛星デジタル放送が行われているのに加え、地上波アナログ放送をデジタル放送に移行させるなどその利用が広がっている。

ところで、チューナがあるチャンネルを受信している場合、そのチューナでは他のチャンネルを受信することができない。そこで、車載テレビ装置のように位置によって放送が行われているチャンネルが変化する場合や、衛星放送受信装置のように受信状態が天候によって変化する場合など、スキャンやサーチが頻繁に必要となる場合には、スキャンやサーチの度に放送の視聴が不可能になるという問題があった。

この問題を解決すべく、特許文献1に示したデジタル放送受信方法では、複数のチューナを設け、一のチューナで一の局を受信中に他のチューナで他の局をサーチする方法が開示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上述した従来技術では、常にサーチを必要とする状況が想定されており、サーチが必要ない状態における複数のチューナの利用は考慮されておらず、複数のチューナの利用方法が限定されていた。

一方で、デジタル放送では、チューナが受信チャンネルを切り替えた場合に1秒程度の時間が必要となる。特に、切替先のチャンネル周波数が特定できておらず、受信可能なチャンネルを探して表示する(サーチする)場合や、所定の周波数帯から放送の行われているチャンネルを全て探す(スキャンする)場合には、この時間が大きな負担となる。

すなわち、従来の技術では、複数のチューナが有効に利用されていないという問題点と、デジタル放送チャンネルのサーチやスキャンに長い時間が必要となるという問題点とがあった。

本発明は、上述した従来技術による問題点を解消し、課題を解決するためになされたものであり、複数のチューナを有効に利用し、デジタル放送チャンネルのスキャンや切り替えに要する時間を短縮可能な受信装置および受信方法を提供することを目的とする。

上述した課題を解決し、目的を達成するため、請求項1の発明に係る受信装置は、第1のチューナおよび第2のチューナを使用してそれぞれ無線放送を受信する受信装置であって、前記第1のチューナと第2のチューナとを独立に若しくは協働して動作させ、チャンネルのスキャン、サーチおよび受信を実行させるチューナ管理手段を備えたことを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下に添付図面を参照し、この発明に係る受信装置および受信方法の好適な実施の形態である車載テレビ装置について説明する。

まず、本実施の形態にかかる車載テレビ装置10の概要構成について説明する。図1は、本実施の形態にかかる車載テレビ装置の概要構成を示す概要構成図である。図1において車載テレビ装置10は、アンテナ1,2、デジタルチューナ11,12、AGC(automatic gain control)13,15、ADC(Analog−to−Digital Converter)14,16、データシンボル読み出し部17,18、主制御部20、切替部21,22、ダイバシティ合成部23、復号処理部24、MPEGデコーダ25、表示制御部26およびモニタ27を有する。

デジタルチューナ11は、アンテナ1と接続され、所定の周波数(チャンネル)の放送を受信してADC14に出力する。ADC14は、デジタルチューナ11が受信した受信電波をデジタル信号に変換してデータシンボル読み出し部17に出力する。データシンボル読み出し部17は、ADC14によってデジタル化された受信電波からデータシンボルを読み出して切替部21に出力する。またAGC13は、データシンボル読み出し部17と接続され、受信電波の強度(受信強度)をもとにデジタルチューナ11の利得制御を行う。

つづいて、チューナ管理部20aによるチューナの管理を具体的に説明する。まず、車載テレビ装置10がスキャンを行う場合、チューナ管理部20aは、デジタルチューナ11,12を独立して制御することで、チャンネルのスキャンを高速化する。図2は、車載テレビ装置10におけるスキャンを説明する説明図である。同図に示すように、チューナ管理部20aは、デジタルチューナ11に1チャンネル、3チャンネル、5チャンネル、7チャンネルの受信判定を実行させ、デジタルチューナ12に2チャンネル、4チャンネル、6チャンネル、8チャンネルの受信判定を実行させる。
