Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a network setting of an information processing device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, when a new information processing apparatus is connected to a network, it is necessary to make network settings for the information processing apparatus. Since these settings differ depending on the network, the user of the information processing apparatus often makes settings while having a person having specialized knowledge, such as a network administrator, teach the setting method, which requires a lot of time and labor. It took
[0003]
Therefore, a method for easily setting a network has been proposed. For example, a technique has been proposed in which a source terminal and a destination terminal of setting information are specified, and setting information common to the terminals is duplicated and transmitted via a network (for example, see Patent Document 1).

[Patent Document 1]
JP 2001-175562 A
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above-described conventional technology, all setting information common to terminals is transmitted via a network. Therefore, as a premise, an IP (Internet Protocol) address must be set in some way.
[0006]
In recent years, many techniques have been proposed for automatic setting of an IP address. However, a technique for performing different settings between information processing apparatuses, such as an IP address, is common between information processing apparatuses, such as a network address. Since there is a part, if the setting information of the information processing apparatus already connected to the network can be used, the setting can be more efficiently performed.
[0007]
An object of the present invention is to set not only setting information common to information processing apparatuses but also setting information different between information processing apparatuses by using setting information of an information processing apparatus already connected to a network. It is to provide a method.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides an information processing apparatus that is already connected to a network and writes the network setting information to a removable medium such as a floppy disk (FD). Is read by the information processing apparatus that performs the processing. Setting items common to information processing devices, such as setting information for using an information processing device connected to a network, including a DNS (Domain Name System) server, a default GW (Gate Way), a domain, and a printer, remain unchanged. , Set this network setting information. Setting items such as an IP address and a personal computer (PC) name that are different between information processing apparatuses connected to the network do not overlap with other information processing apparatuses connected to the network using this network setting information. Settings individually. For example, regarding the IP address, since the network address portion is common, the host address is provisionally set by changing the host address little by little, and duplication with another information processing apparatus is checked.
[0009]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Next, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
[0010]
Specific examples of application scenes of the network setting method of the present invention include the following cases.
(1) When a new information processing device is connected to a network to which the information processing device is already connected (2) When the server is replaced and / or when the information processing devices are totally replaced (1), The present invention can be applied between a connected information processing device and a newly connected information processing device. In the case of (2), it is necessary to reset the information processing device except when replacing only the server with the previous setting. Therefore, the information processing device before and after the replacement of the server or the information processing device, or the information processing device between the first information processing device and the second and subsequent information processing devices after the replacement are replaced. The invention can be applied.
[0011]
Referring to Table 1, specific examples of items for performing the same setting between information processing apparatuses and items for performing different settings between information processing apparatuses when performing network setting are shown. The present invention performs different processing for these two items.
