本発明は、タイマー機能を有するテレビジョン受像機に係り、ゲーム機等の外部機器を接続可能としたもので、所定時間以上継続してテレビゲームを続けた場合に電源をオフし、使用者の視覚的な疲労を防止するテレビ受像機及びその表示制限方法に関するものである。

従来、テレビジョン受像機としてタイマー機能を有し、使用者が設定した時刻になると電源をオンあるいはオフできるようにしたものがある。また外部機器としてVTRやDVD、あるいはゲーム機器を接続し、使用者の選択操作によりいずれかの外部機器を選択してテレビション受像機で楽しめるようにしている。

このようなテレビジョン受像機において、テレビ番組を長時間見続けたり、テレビゲームを延々と続けた場合、使用者の視覚的な疲労をもたらし、視力低下を招くことになる。特に年少者はテレビゲームに夢中になることがあり、親の管理がないとテレビゲームを延々と続ける場合がある。このため、タイマー機能により、ゲーム時間を制限する装置も考えられている。
