この発明は、ネットワークを介して提供されるコンテンツの利用権を管理するコンテンツ利用権管理装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
著作権者等の情報提供者がインターネット上で提供する様々なコンテンツは、暗号化などによってライセンスを持たないユーザは利用出来ない仕組みになっている。ユーザがライセンスを持たないコンテンツを利用する場合、ライセンス管理サーバ等からライセンスを取得する必要がある。

従来のライセンス提供システムにおける課金サーバでは、予め登録されたユーザの端末装置から課金対象のコンテンツへのアクセスがあった場合、課金サーバにおいてユーザ登録の正当性を確認した上で課金処理を行い、課金サーバからユーザの端末装置にコンテンツへのアクセス許可を通知することにより、コンテンツを端末装置によってアクセス可能としている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
従来のコンテンツ利用権管理システムは以上のように構成されており、ライセンス発行処理とユーザ認証・課金処理を同一のサーバで行っていた。そのため、コンテンツ管理者は、ライセンス発行と課金処理の実施が可能なサーバを持たなければならないという問題があった。

この発明は上記のような課題を解決するためになされたもので、課金処理装置を動的に選択し、課金処理を委任することができるコンテンツ利用権管理装置を得ることを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
この発明に係るコンテンツ利用権管理装置は、利用者端末からコンテンツ利用権発行依頼を受信し、発行依頼に基づいて課金処理装置を選択する課金処理装置選択部と、選択された課金処理装置に、課金処理の指示を行う処理命令部と、課金処理装置から送信される課金処理の結果に基づいて、利用者端末に対してコンテンツの利用に必要な情報を送信する利用権発行部とを備えたものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、この発明の様々な実施の形態を説明する。
実施の形態1.
図1は、この発明の実施の形態1〜4によるコンテンツ利用権管理システムの概略を示す図である。図に示すように、コンテンツ配信サーバ11、ライセンス管理サーバ(コンテンツ利用権管理装置)12、課金サーバ(課金処理装置)13、およびクライアント端末(利用者端末)14は、無線または有線の通信手段によりインターネット10へ接続され、インターネット10を介して相互に接続される。クライアント端末は、有線の通信手段によりインターネット10へ接続される固定端末でもよいし、人工衛星15を利用し、衛星基地局16、受信機17を介したTCP/IPサービス等の無線通信によりインターネット10に接続するモバイル機器であってもよい。

コンテンツ配信サーバ11は、Webサーバ等により構成される。ユーザは、利用したいコンテンツをコンテンツ配信サーバ11からダウンロードしたり、ライブ配信やストリーム配信によって入手したりすることが出来る。或いは、CD−ROM、DVD(Digital Versatile Disk)、フレキシブルディスクなどの媒体18に記録された状態で入手することも可能である。他にも、人工衛星を用いたマルチキャストによるダウンロード、ライブ配信などの方法を利用してもよい。

図2は、この発明の実施の形態1による、コンテンツ利用権管理システムの構成を示す図である。ライセンス管理サーバ12は、課金サーバ選択部(課金処理装置選択部)121、処理命令部122、ライセンス発行部(利用権発行部)123を含み、課金サーバ選択テーブル124を保有している。課金サーバ選択テーブル124はライセンス管理サーバ12と別の装置に格納し、回線で接続するようにしてもよい。ライセンス管理サーバ12、課金サーバ131,132、クライアント端末141,142,143はネットワークを介して接続されている。

次に、動作について説明する。
コンテンツ配信サーバ11等により提供されるコンテンツは、暗号化等によりライセンスがないと再生出来ない仕組みになっている。コンテンツには、コンテンツ利用に必要な解除キー等の情報を発行するライセンス管理サーバ12のURL(Uniform Resource Locator)等の情報が付与されている。ライセンスを持たないユーザが、ダウンロードしたコンテンツをクライアント端末141上で再生しようとすると、その情報を基にクライアント端末141はライセンス管理サーバ12にアクセスし、ライセンス発行依頼(コンテンツ利用権発行依頼)を送信する。ライセンス管理サーバ12はライセンス発行依頼を受信し、この時クライアント端末141のIPアドレスも取得する。

図4は、実施の形態1によるライセンス発行処理の流れを説明する図である。ライセンス管理サーバ12は、クライアント端末141からのライセンス発行依頼R1を受信する。ライセンス管理サーバ12は、ライセンス発行依頼R1を受信したことを確認すると、課金サーバ選択部121において課金処理を命令する課金サーバを選択する。

課金サーバ選択部121は、課金サーバ選択テーブル124を参照して課金サーバを選択する。ここでは、ライセンス発行依頼R1を送信したユーザの属するISP(インターネットサービスプロバイダ)が所有する課金サーバが選択される。

処理命令部122は選択された課金サーバ131に処理を命令し、課金サーバ131とクライアント端末141間でユーザ認証や課金処理を直接行わせる。実施の形態1では、課金サーバ131への処理の指示はHTTPリダイレクト機能を利用する。HTTPリダイレクトとは、WWW(ワールドワイドウェブ)でのデータ送受信に使われるHTTP(HyperText Transfer Protocol)におけるサーバからの応答種類の一つであり、送信相手の変更を送信元に知らせ、変更先のURLを通知する機能である。ほとんどのWebブラウザは自動的にHTTPリダイレクトを示すコードを認識し、変更された送信相手のURLを読みに行く機能を有する。クライアント端末141も、このような機能を有している。

ライセンス管理サーバ12の処理命令部122は、ライセンス発行依頼R1を受信すると、HTTPリダイレクト機能を利用して課金サーバへリダイレクトする。すなわち、ライセンス発行依頼R1への応答R2で、課金サーバ131のURL「http://ISP−B.co.jp/StoreFront/index.htm」がクライアント端末141に通知され、課金サーバ131に対してクライアント端末141から処理依頼R3が送信される。ここで、R3はR2に応答して自動的に送信される。課金サーバ131は、R3に対するレスポンスとしてユーザID等のユーザ認証情報の入力を促す(R4)。クライアント端末141は、R4を受信すると、ユーザが入力したユーザID等の情報を送信する(R5)。課金サーバ131は、R5を受信し、ユーザ認証を行った後、クライアント端末141に課金処理のための情報の入力を促す(R6)。クライアント端末141はR6を受信すると、ユーザが入力した決済方法についての情報やコンテンツの使用時間等課金に関わる情報を課金サーバ131に送信する(R7)。クライアント端末141と課金サーバ131の間でこのようなHTTPによるやり取りが繰り返され、ユーザ認証・課金処理が完了する。

課金サーバ131は、ユーザ認証および課金処理が終了したら再びHTTPリダイレクトを利用して、ライセンス管理サーバ12にユーザ認証・課金処理の終了報告とライセンス発行の許可/不許可の判断結果を通知する。すなわち、課金サーバ131からの課金処理終了通知R8でライセンス管理サーバ12のURLがクライアント端末141に通知され、ライセンス管理サーバ12に対するクライアント端末141からの課金処理終了報告R9が送信される。R9には、認証のためコンテンツ識別子が付与される。なお、R9はR3と同様に、R8に応答して自動的に送信される。ライセンス管理サーバ12はR9を受信し、ライセンスの発行許可が通知された場合にはライセンス発行部123がコンテンツ利用に必要な情報を生成する。生成された情報はクライアント端末141に送信される(R10)。クライアント端末141は、R10を受信し、受信した情報を用いてコンテンツを再生・閲覧することが出来る。

このように、ライセンス管理サーバ12、課金サーバ131およびクライアント端末141の間の処理は通常のHTTPプロトコルで対応できる。実施の形態1では、ライセンス管理サーバ12が課金サーバ131に対して課金処理を指示する際にHTTPリダイレクトを利用しているが、方法はこれに限るものではなく、例えばライセンス管理サーバ12でMETAタグまたはスクリプトにより課金サーバのURLを指定するなどの方法も考えられる。

実施の形態1では、ユーザの属するISPに課金処理を依頼することを想定し、ライセンス管理サーバはクライアント端末のIPアドレスに基づいて課金サーバを選択するようにした。実施の形態2では、コンテンツ提供者が所有する課金サーバにおいて課金処理を行うため、ユーザが利用しようとするコンテンツに与えられた識別子に基づいて課金サーバを選択する。

実施の形態1〜3においては、ライセンス管理サーバから課金サーバへの課金処理の指示にHTTPリダイレクトを利用している。このため、ユーザが偽の課金サーバを作ってそちらにリダイレクトさせ、偽の課金サーバから課金処理終了の通知をライセンス管理サーバに送信すれば、不正にライセンスを得られるという可能性がある。実施の形態4では、このような不正行為を防ぐための処理をライセンス管理サーバと課金サーバとの間で行うようにした。実施の形態4によるコンテンツ利用権管理システムの基本構成は実施の形態1〜3のいずれのシステム構成を採用してもよいが、ライセンス管理サーバと課金サーバとの間の処理動作が一部異なっている。

図9は、実施の形態4によるライセンス発行処理の流れを説明する図である。図において、ライセンス管理サーバ92および課金サーバ93は実施の形態1と同様にインターネットを介してクライアント端末14と接続される。なお、ライセンス管理サーバ92と課金サーバ93の間のネットワークはVPN(Virtual Private Network)などで高いセキュリティが実現されている。また、実施の形態1と同様に、ライセンス管理サーバ92は、課金サーバ選択部921、処理命令部922、ライセンス発行部923を有し、図示されていない課金サーバ選択テーブル等を利用して、課金サーバを選択することができる。

以上のように、この実施の形態4によれば、課金サーバとライセンス管理サーバの間の処理において、ライセンス発行に必要な認証用の異なるIDを2段階の処理に分けて通知するようにしたので、ライセンス発行処理と課金処理を別々の装置で行う場合のセキュリティを向上させるという効果が得られる。

【発明の効果】
以上のように、この発明によれば、利用権管理装置が利用者端末から受信したコンテンツ利用権発行依頼に基づいて選択した課金処理装置に課金処理を指示し、課金処理装置が、利用者端末との間で行った課金処理の結果を利用権管理装置に送信し、その結果に基づいて利用権管理装置が利用者端末にコンテンツ利用権を発行するようにしたので、課金処理装置を動的に選択し、課金処理を委任出来るという効果がある。
