Abstract
Description
【0001】

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
[Overview]
First, the outline of the present invention will be described.
The function control method according to the present invention is applied to, for example, a multifunction peripheral that sets the number of copies and the like using a touch panel.
In the function control method according to the present invention, a portion of the touch panel touched by a user's finger is used as a button for selecting a function or the like.
[0044]
This will be described more specifically.
First, when the user places a finger on the touch panel, the device to which the function control method according to the present invention is applied detects the number and positional relationship of the finger placed on the touch panel.
For example, (index finger or ring finger), when two fingers are placed on the touch panel, the position where the two fingers are placed, and which of the two fingers is the right finger and which is the right finger Recognize whether it is the left finger.
Further, for example, the device to which the function control method according to the present invention is applied is configured such that when five fingers are placed on the touch panel, the first position may be any one of the positions where the five fingers are placed and the five positions. Finger (thumb or little finger), second finger (index finger or ring finger), third finger (middle finger), fourth finger (ring finger or index finger) Is recognized or the fifth finger (little finger or thumb) is placed.
[0045]
As described above, by detecting the position where the finger is placed on the touch panel and detecting which finger is placed at which position, the device to which the function control method according to the present invention is applied is By associating each position where a finger is placed with a function to be executed and controlled, the user is provided with an environment where the user can perform an operation using each position where the finger is placed like a button.
In other words, the function control method according to the present invention is based on the conventional idea that the function is fixedly associated with the button placed at the fixed position, and the position of the button is memorized by the user at the position where the user places the finger. Is completely switched to the idea of using it as a button, and the function is automatically associated with the position of the user's finger to accept the operation.
[0046]
Further, for example, when five fingers of the right hand are placed on the touch panel, as described above, it is recognized that the thumb is placed at the rightmost position, the middle finger is placed at the center position, and the like. Can be.
By combining each finger on the touch panel with the voice guidance in this way, the operability can be further improved.
In other words, for example, with voice guidance, the operation guidance such as "Please select one of the functions of copy, fax and scan with your thumb" or "Please specify the number of copies with your middle finger" By doing so, the operability of the device can be further improved.
[0047]
