【0001】

【0036】
LD=画素データPD・輝度補正値K

The
According to the execution of the brightness correction value generation routine, as the emission drive current measured for each pixel becomes larger than the representative current value, the period during which the EL element in the pixel unit corresponding to the pixel should emit light is set to the pixel. A luminance correction value K to be shorter than the period indicated by the data PD is generated. Then, a value obtained by multiplying the pixel data PD supplied corresponding to the pixel by the luminance correction value K is obtained as the luminance correction pixel data LD.
[0037]
For example, the pixel unit PL 1,1 Is 120% of the representative current value, the luminance correction value K is 0.83, and the pixel portion PL 1,1 Is multiplied by 0.83 to the pixel data PD supplied corresponding to the pixel data PD, and becomes the luminance correction pixel data LD. Further, the pixel portion PL 2,1 Is 110% of the reference voltage value, the luminance correction value K is 0.91 and the pixel unit PL 2,1 Is multiplied by 0.91 to the pixel data PD supplied corresponding to the pixel data PD becomes the luminance correction pixel data LD.
[0038]
That is, for a pixel portion provided with an EL element having a large light emission drive current, the pixel data PD is set to have a shorter light emission period in each frame than an EL element having a small light emission drive current. The luminance correction is performed. That is, the EL element having a large light emission drive current has a higher luminance at the time of light emission than the EL element having a small light emission drive current, but the pixel data PD corresponding to the EL element having a large light emission drive current. Thus, the apparent luminance on the screen is made uniform by shortening the light emission period per frame.
[0039]
Therefore, even if the emission luminance of each EL element corresponding to each pixel varies due to driving the

Lower limit current value I MIN Is the lower limit of the light emission drive current for causing the EL element to emit light with the minimum necessary luminance.
