チインショーケースは、庫内照明として、細長い板状基
板に長手方向に略等間隔で配列した複数の発光ダイオー
ド(LED)を用いたので、以下のような優れた作用効
果を奏するものである。 (1)LEDからの発熱は微少であるため、ショーケー
スの冷却負荷が軽減される。 (2)LEDは、電源直結で安定器不要のため、ハーネ
ス類の線材が簡略化されるとともに、安定器のメンテナ
ンスからも解放される。また、従来の安定器収納スペー
スも不要となって、設計時の自由度を増すことができ
る。更に安定器のような高い二次電圧の発生という問題
もなくなり、安全性も向上する。 (3)LEDは、蛍光ランプと異なって、電源周波数に
関係なく使用できるため、その地域の周波数を意識した
配線を行う必要がなく、余分な手間をかけずに済む。 (4)LED自体は、米粒大の小さいサイズであるた
め、LED取付用の板状基板を従来より小さい寸法で設
計でき、さらに収納する円筒体も細くすることにより、
庫内有効寸法を大きくとることができる。 (5)LEDに指向性があることを利用して、光源遠方
を光源付近と同等の明るさにでき、庫内照度の均一化が
可能となる。LED自体は、米粒大の小さいサイズであ
るため、LED取付用の板状基板を小さい寸法で設計で
き、さらに収納する円筒体も細くすることが可能となっ
て、庫内有効寸法を大きくとることもできる。 (6)蛍光ランプのような水銀・不活性ガスを使用して
いないため、廃棄処理が容易である。 (7)周囲温度による光出力の変化がないため、低温環
境においても、始動直後から安定した点灯が可能とな
る。 (8)従来のスリム型蛍光ランプに比べて、約3倍の長
寿命化が実現でき、低温環境でも、周囲温度による光出
力の変化がないため、低温環境においても、始動直後か
ら安定した点灯が可能となる。 (9)LEDは低電圧でも発光するため、蛍光ランプの
ように低電圧で発光しないというような不具合はなくな
る。
