Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dust from sticking to an optical scanner through a simple structure by providing a laser light source, light deflector, scanning optical system, and optical members installed on the outer periphery of the housing, and by vibrating the optical members. SOLUTION: The scanner is equipped with a polygon motor 2 which is a light deflector for deflecting outgoing light from a laser light source, optical glass 3 as a light emitting port installed facing the outer periphery of the housing 1, vibrator 4, transmitting member 5 for transmitting the vibration of the vibrator 4 or the like. The rotation of the vibrator 4 is then transmitted to the glass 3 as the vibration through a joint. The vibrator 4 is constructed by providing a cam plate for a motor that is used in a paper or the like for telling incoming call through the vibration, vibrating the transmitting member 5 by the rotation of the cam plate at the time of no disturbance to image formation such as the time when no optical scanning is performed, and vibrating the glass 3 on the transmitting member 5. The vibration of the glass 3 makes it hard for dust to stick to the surface. As a result, without increase in the number of parts to a great extent and without increase in the cost, the surface of the optical members can be always kept clean.

2. Description of the Related Art In a conventional electrophotographic apparatus using an electrophotographic process, a dry developer used for developing an electrostatic latent image and paper dust accompanying the conveyance of a printing paper are generated. Dust such as chemicals and dust entering from the outside of the device are scattered and floating. These scattered and floating dusts and the like adhere to the optical members of the optical scanning device and hinder the formation of a latent image. For this reason, for example, in the technology described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7-325463, a cleaning member is provided which separates the apparatus main body into an upper frame and a lower frame, and is provided in contact with a shield glass located at a light emission port of the optical system unit. It rotates in conjunction with the rotation of the upper frame, and cleans an optical component provided at the light exit of the optical system unit.

Further, in the technique described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7-325644, a frame for separating a photosensitive drum from an optical system is located near the light-transmitting dustproof plate on the photosensitive drum side.
There is an image forming apparatus which is provided with static electricity generating means which operates with rotation of the photosensitive drum and uniformly generates positive static electricity on the entire surface.

In the embodiment, the vibrator 4 is provided with a cam plate provided on a motor used in a pager or the like for transmitting an incoming call by vibrating. Although the glass 3 on the transmission member is vibrated when there is no hindrance, a galvanomirror using a piezo element, a ceramic vibrator or the like may be used. The vibration of the glass 3 makes it difficult for dust to adhere to the surface.
