DESCRIZIONE DI INVENZIONE INDUSTRIALE DESCRIPTION OF INDUSTRIAL INVENTION
Title: System for modifying the inclination of the axis of the light beam produced by an LED.
The present application relates to a system for modifying the inclination of the axis of the light beam produced by an LED according to multiple values and by means of suitable rotation of a flux conveyor and therefore of its optical axis, in correspondence with a suitable surface. of spherical or cylindrical concave rotation obtained on the same, around a corresponding spherical or cylindrical convex surface of a transparent support previously fixed on the electronic board or PCB and in correspondence with the LED.
Nowadays the problem is felt of being able to illuminate streets, draw lines in urban areas and also interiors and exteriors of residential, work, commercial, sports, recreational buildings, using LED systems in such a way as to have an illuminated surface as uniform as possible, of adequate light intensity and in line with regulations.
LED lighting, although it offers the possibility of an important containment in energy consumption and in the durability of the LEDs themselves, much higher than the other technologies of greater use on the market, on the other hand it presents a problem given by the geometric characteristics of the light beam. produced by that device.
The emission angle of this light beam, in fact, normally assumes very low values and this makes this type of light tending to a point light, otherwise known as a spot effect. This determines, for lighting devices equipped with LEDs only and without lenses or optics placed in front of the LED itself, the impossibility of illuminating sufficiently large surfaces in a homogeneous way.
To partially obviate this problem, it is known to use light flux conveyors, in transparent plastic material, preferentially in the shape of a truncated cone and with a geometric and optical axis coaxial to that of the LED itself or inclined by a certain angle with respect to to the axis of the aforementioned LED. With these flux conveyors, opening the light beam, an increase in the emission angle of the light produced by the LED is achieved, thus distributing the light over a larger surface.
However, these flow conveyors have a major limitation given by the fact that it is in any case impossible to adequately illuminate sufficiently large and decentralized surfaces only by using these types of devices; this however large may be the opening angle of the truncated cones that make up the geometry of the flow conveyors themselves. In fact, even by considerably increasing the cone opening angle, the light output on the ground that would be obtained by doing so would end up being very low especially at the edges of the illuminated parts and therefore further away from the light source. . This low brightness would then be completely insufficient and inadequate to allow the luminous device to comply with the requirements of the street and urban lighting regulations.
With these types of flux conveyors, as per known techniques, the luminous flux is deflected by a determined fixed and non-modifiable angle. This feature leads to the need, during the design phase, to determine exactly and in a way that is no longer modifiable the desired angles of deflection of the light in order to achieve adequate illumination of the target as required by the regulations. Since these flow conveyors are obtained mostly by injection molding, it is clear that for each mathematically determined angle of inclination, it is necessary to create a specific conveyor of light flow and therefore a specific injection mold or in any case suitable equipment.
It is therefore often forced to limit the number of molds and thus the number of flow conveyors to be produced, but in this way it is no longer possible to illuminate optimally and it is difficult to respect the reference values provided for by the regulations in force. . In fact, to remedy this, it would be necessary to be able to vary the aforementioned angle of inclination of the flow of light produced by the LED continuously according to multiple, almost infinite positions.
Otherwise, and to confirm the above, in order to have the many necessary inclinations of the luminous fluxes, it would be necessary to create a mold for each of the many inclinations identified, naturally with a great waste of money and time.
It should also be said that the fixed vertical or inclined axis flux conveyors of known type do not allow the carrying out of those small but very useful adjustments of the inclinations of the luminous fluxes produced by the various LEDs once the optics have been mounted on the electronic board. Since these are fixed axis flux conveyors, the same cannot in fact be modified to obtain those indispensable calibrations regarding the correct inclination of the luminous fluxes produced by the various LEDs mounted on the board.
Another big problem in LED lighting systems with known types of flux conveyors is that the end user is not given the possibility to change the angle of the luminous flux to make it more suitable for their lighting needs. This is because all the systems mentioned and not forming part of this invention, after having been mounted on the electronic board, do not allow any further modification of the inclination of the luminous axis of the light produced by each LED. In this way, any possibility for the end user to modify the inclination of the axis of the light coming from each LED is precluded.
There are also patents filed which deal with devices with LEDs but which fall outside the scope of the present invention and which therefore cannot be considered as prior art.
A case of this type is given by the patent nr GB 2 452 922 A of 25 March 2009 which is not relevant to the object of the present invention since the device indicated in this prior requires a light beam concentrator fixed on the electronic board and a support base and centering of the spherical part of rotation of a flow conveyor.
In the object of the invention of my solution, however, no support and centering base is required for the spherical part of the flow conveyor which, on the other hand, is movably associated and / or can be associated with a transparent support fixed on the electronic board. In the solution according to the present invention and as will appear from reading the continuation of the description, the support base and hinge for the rotation of the flow conveyor is not necessary, nor is the function performed by the flow concentrator necessary. In fact, in the solution of the present invention, the support performs only the function of support and hinge for the flow conveyor, ensuring the passage of light as it is made of transparent material.
A further case of this type is given by patent no. ref. US 2005/231948 of 20 October 2005 which is not relevant to the object of this finding or (since the device indicated in figure 37D and which consists of a lever made of solid and transparent material in the shape of a cone and with obtained a spherical seat for housing the LED, it does not perform any rotation function around the LED. This configuration referred to in the aforementioned precedence is static and has the sole function of increasing the opening angle of the cone of light emitted by the LED without, however, modifying the inclination of the axis of the luminous flux produced.
A further case of this type is given by patent no. ref. US 7 686 478 B1 of 30 March 2010 which is not relevant to the subject of the present invention since the indicated device does not allow the modification of the axis inclination of the light beam produced by the LED but only the modification of the 'opening angle of the cone of the light beam produced. Furthermore, the solution referred to in the identified precedence allows for the creation of particular chromatic effects by covering the walls of the conical support fixed on the electronic board or on the respective seat obtained in the sphere. However, both of these functions are not contemplated in the object of the invention referred to in the object as the same is contemplating a completely different object.
^ A further case of this type is given by patent no. US 2008/0246044 A1 of 9 October 2008 which is not relevant to the object of the present invention since the indicated device is not able to modify the inclination of the axis of the light beam produced by the LED according to multiple values but only to create particular aesthetic and chromatic effects. Therefore, this is a function not contemplated in the object of the present invention since it contemplates a completely different object. ^
The main task of what forms the subject of the present application is therefore that of solving the technical problems highlighted, eliminating the drawbacks described above in the known techniques.
This important task is accomplished by a system for modifying the inclination of the axis of the light beam produced by a LED according to multiple values and by means of appropriate rotation of a flux conveyor and therefore of its optical axis, in correspondence with a predisposed concave spherical or cylindrical rotation surface obtained on the same, around a corresponding spherical or cylindrical convex surface of a transparent support previously fixed on the electronic board or PCB and in correspondence with the LED.
This system allows, thanks to the relative rotation of the flow conveyor with respect to the aforementioned spherical or cylindrical support, to modify the inclination of the axis of the light produced by the LED. This allows to enter infinite angles of inclination to the axis of the flux conveyor with respect to the axis of the LED in such a way as to allow different inclinations of the axis of the luminous flux. In this way it is possible to illuminate in an adjustable and optimal way the surfaces of greater extension and decentralized with respect to the lighting body.
It is also possible to illuminate, with efficiencies unknown to the previous systems of the known techniques, areas that are decentralized with respect to the luminous body, which otherwise would remain in the shade or with insufficient lighting. Furthermore, a fundamental technical solution is available for compliance with the requirements set by the norwratjye on urban and street lighting. The manufacturer can thus control the inclination of the luminous fluxes produced by each LED even after the assembly of the luminous flux conveyors on the board, for a correct final calibration of the lighting system. Furthermore, for particular applications, the end user is given the possibility to modify the inclination of each flux conveyor himself and therefore of each luminous flux. type of flux conveyor with respective support capable of guaranteeing many or infinite flux inclinations in place of the realization of multiple types of luminous flux conveyors and respective bases, each with its own fixed inclination of the optical axis (and therefore expensive multiple equipment production such as injection molds). Obviously, this advantage also has a positive effect on the development times of the projects which are considerably shorter thanks to the new invention.
The aforementioned task and purposes, as well as others that will appear more clearly later, are achieved by a rotation system consisting of a support preferably, but not only, spherical or cylindrical transparent male fixed to the electronic board, in correspondence with the LED, movably interconnected to a corresponding female seat, preferably, but not only, spherical or cylindrical of a luminous flux conveyor. The rotation of the flux conveyor with respect to the support fixed to the electronic board, allows the modification of the inclination of the axis of the light produced by the LED according to many or infinite values unlike the known techniques where the inclination value was fixed and not modifiable.
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention with respect to what has been said previously, will become clearer from the detailed description of some particular but not exclusive embodiments, illustrated by way of non-limiting example, in the attached drawings.

With reference to the aforementioned figures, A1 indicates the luminous flux conveyor in rotation with respect to the spherical support A2 which is fixed to the electronic board. The electronic card has been indicated with the letter B and the LED with the letter C. The optical / revolution axis of the luminous flux conveyor has been indicated with tt while the optical axis of the LED has been indicated with s-s. The angle between the optical axis of the flow conveyor and the optical axis of the LED has been indicated with affa.
In fig. 4 The object of the present invention has been represented where the flux conveyor has been indicated as a truncated cone-shaped prism with opening angle beta II above mentioned angle beta constitutes the amplitude of the resulting luminous flux, for the action it empties the flow conveyor itself, increased with respect to the hemi & ìoin ^ angle of the LED. The flow conveyor shown in the figure also has a female spherical seat which allows it to rotate around a corresponding transparent male spherical support previously fixed to the electronic board. This pivot point has been indicated with O. Thanks to the action carried out by this invention, the luminous axis s-s produced by the LED C is deflected according to multiple inclinations, obtaining new optical axes tâ € ™ -tâ € ™ of light output. It is also possible to rotate the flow conveyor A1 not only around the rotation point O but also around the s-s axis, see theta angle in fig. 6. In this way the rotation of the flow conveyor A1 around the support A2 is allowed in multiple directions and entities according to a planetary movement. Therefore, thanks to the present invention, the angle between the optical axis s-s of the LED and the light-emitting axis t-t no longer represents a fixed and non-modifiable value. On the contrary, the flow conveyor A1 can rotate assuming infinite positions around the support A2. Consequently, the inclination of the optical axis t-t of light output with respect to the inclination of the optical axis s-s of the LED will also vary.
Obviously, the solution described above can find other embodiments always within the scope of the present invention.
It is possible, for example, as indicated in figs. 10 and 11, make the luminous flux conveyor A1 no longer as a solid prism but as a hollow truncated cone. Also in this case the possibility of rotation of the luminous flux conveyor A1 with respect to the spherical ^ i ^ or transparent support A2, allows the setting of infinite angles of inclination of the luminous axis exiting the luminous flux conveyor A1.
It was thus found that the invention has achieved the intended aim and objects, having devised a system for the rotation of a luminous flux conveyor capable of deviating the optical axis of the light beam produced by the LED according to infinite and non-infinite inclinations. second only to a fixed and non-modifiable angle, as in the previous known techniques. In this way it was possible to better and optimally illuminate large and decentralized surfaces with respect to the luminous body. Multiple types of luminous flux conveyors are no longer necessary, each of which with its own unique angle of inclination of the optical axis, but it is sufficient to use a single type of luminous flux conveyor developed with the rotation system referred to in present found. For each of the luminous flux conveyors of this new type, all identical to each other, an appropriate angle of inclination with respect to the axis of the LED is set.
In this way, a single type of luminous flux conveyor is realized with an adjustable inclination in place of the multiple ones with fixed optical axis previously necessary. The number of molds required is thus drastically reduced with a consequent significant reduction in terms of costs and production times. Now it is also possible for both the manufacturer and the end user to make all the necessary corrections to the inclination of the luminous flux conveyor and therefore of the output luminous flux without having to change the conveyor of a different flux itself.
Naturally the invention is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which fall within the scope of the same inventive concept.
