Description

Dispositivo elettromedicale per la valutazione del bruxismo notturno Electromedical device for the evaluation of night bruxism

RELAZIONE AGGIUNTIVA ADDITIONAL REPORT

The mechanical sensor detects (i) the amount of load; (ii) the direction of movement of the jaw. It is drowned in the resin of a "standard" splint or built from the impression of the patient's dental arches. The sensor consists of small “foil” sensors, which are 7-8 in total. They are used to record any force that exceeds the level of swallowing force, reporting the intensity (in kg per tooth, or as pressure on cm <2>), the frequency and also the duration.

I sensori sono così distribuiti sull’arcata dentaria: The sensors are distributed as follows on the dental arch:

• 1/2 per gli incisivi • 1/2 for the incisors

• 2 per i canini (1 a destra ed 1 a sinistra) • 2 for the canines (1 on the right and 1 on the left)

• 2 per i premolari (l a destra ed 1 a sinistra) • 2 for the premolars (1 on the right and 1 on the left)

• 2 per i molari (l a destra ed 1 a sinistra) • 2 for the molars (1 on the right and 1 on the left)

I sensori inquadrano gli inputs registrati all’interno di 3 ranges. The sensors frame the inputs recorded within 3 ranges.

The doctor himself, before "entrusting" the equipment to the patient, "sets" the limits between the 3 ranges of gravity based on the patient himself, detecting the swallowing loads and maximum voluntary contraction on each sensor.

The sensor strips are inserted into the splint directly at the level of the chewing surfaces of the teeth. In this way, the pressure transmitted from the tooth to the splint (and thus to the lower tooth) can be measured.

The data transmission to the PC takes place with wireless technology. A chip able to act both as a transmitter and to manage a part of the data detection system is inserted in the splint. The chip has dimensions of about 9mmx9mm, and thickness of about Imm (+ the "base" on which it is soldered, for a total thickness of 1.5mm). The chip needs an external antenna, which is positioned in the vestibule of the upper arch. The antenna is also drowned in the resin of the splint. Other additional components, including the battery, are also drowned in the resin of the splint.

The wireless receiver consists of a portable computer to which a USB stick with a commercial receiver is connected.

The surface electromyograph / electromyograph detects the intensity, frequency and duration of bruxism episodes (clenching and grinding) at night, with particular regard to contractions that exceed the level of maximum voluntary contraction. The electromyograph has 4 or more channels.

Also with regard to surface electromyographic effectiveness, the machine identifies 3 or more ranges of severity, with regard to the intensity, frequency and duration of contractions. The limits between the various severity intervals are "set" before starting the examination based on the surface electromyographic values of the patient's muscles.

Le caratteristiche dell’elettromiografo sono: The characteristics of the electromyograph are:

4 o più ingressi differenziali 4 or more differential inputs

Range canali: /-4mV o /- 0.6mV, a seconda del "guadagno" Channel range: / -4mV or / - 0.6mV, depending on the "gain"

Risoluzione: 12bit Resolution: 12bit

Guadagno: da software 86/70dB Gain: from software 86 / 70dB

CMMR: lOOdB CMMR: 100dB

Taglio inferiore: 15Hz Lower cut: 15Hz
