Description
Cerotto per medicazione incorporante elettrocateteri accoppiati a Dressing patch incorporating paired leads a
elettronico in grado di rilevare perdite ematiche da accessi vascolari (Fistole Artero-Venose e Cateteri Venosi Centrali) per circolazione extracorporea o da ferite chirurgiche. electronic capable of detecting blood losses from vascular accesses (Artero-Venous Fistulas and Central Venous Catheters) for extracorporeal circulation or from surgical wounds.
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
Currently all dialysis machines, whether for chronic or continuous treatments, do not have any sensor, integrated or external, capable of detecting the disconnection of the venous line or the bleeding of the vascular access, whether it is an Arterial Venous Fistula (AVF). or a Central Venous Catheter (CVC).
The object of the present invention consists of a dressing patch provided with an electronic battery-operated device capable of detecting the presence of blood and interacting with the dialysis machine by blocking the blood pump during a dialysis treatment or to emit a single acoustic signal, if applied to a surgical wound at risk of bleeding or to the exit site of a CVC not used for extracorporeal circulation.
This device is therefore able to detect the presence of blood and to implement a feed-back at the level of the extracorporeal circulation machines, but not limited only to the machines that perform dialysis treatments; if not applied during an extracorporeal circulation it is equally capable of emitting a sound to call the attention of healthcare workers in the presence of bleeding at the level of surgical wounds or CVC exit sites.
The device object of the invention therefore allows you to block dialysis treatments, and not, by blocking the blood pump once the loss of blood at the vascular access level has been detected, whether it comes from the lines, the AVF or the CVC; if this device is applied to surgical wounds (in the post-operative of interventions with possible risk of bleeding) or as a standard in post-CVC dressings (possible bleeding from the exit site) it can promptly detect blood loss and act on the cause. The current technology of dialysis and extracorporeal circulation machines is not able to detect the blood loss of the vascular access or the disconnection of the venous line, thus exposing the patient to a possible damage related to the consistent blood loss: this lack of technology therefore requires the continuous and constant monitoring by health professionals who must visually identify such loss or disconnection.
This device has an optical coupling between the blood loss detection device and the connection circuit of the machine allowing the necessary electrical isolation between the patient and the machine (dialysis machine) with mains power supply (220 V, 50 Hz irremediably harmful for the patient's health).
This device is composed of a patch 1.1 to which micro-leads 1.3 are introduced so that any blood loss can be detected. The terminations of the 1.2 leads, which can be up to 8, are firmly fixed to the patch and connected to an electrical device 1.5 designed to measure the impedance presented by any blood traces resulting between them. The electrical device will generate a high frequency current pulse at predetermined and adjustable intervals so as to be able to measure the impedance due to the blood traces between the terminations of the catheters 1.2. Absorbed traces of blood alter the impedance presented by the otherwise dry patch. An additional lead 2.1, whose impedance will vary according to the presence of blood or not, can be drowned, serpentine modes, across the surface of the patch in order to increase the efficiency of the device and pick up slight blood loss [fig 2].
The other end of the lead is connected to the electrical device through a special connector 1.4. The electrical device 1.5 is composed of a low voltage battery and an electrical circuit capable of generating the pulses at the desired frequency, interspersed with a period, (To) in order to reduce consumption and ensure a long battery life. Once an impedance that reflects the presence of blood has been detected, the control circuit allows information to be transferred to any external interfaceable device. An optical coupling to the external device allows the necessary isolation to ensure the patient's electrical safety from any external devices (dialysis machines) connected. The devices that can be interfaced, through the 1.6 connector, can be dialysis machines, which must be equipped with a special connector and controls, a small device that emits an acoustic signal if triggered by the 1.5 device or any other biomedical equipment.
This sound device can be integrated with the electrical device 1.5 and can be disabled in the case of connection to the dialysis machine.
Any patch-lead kit can be connected to the same electronic device 1.5 which will signal any accidental disconnection in order to avoid the lack of blood loss. In this regard, the patch can provide a dedicated circuit that is periodically checked.
The disposable sterile patch-lead kit must be replaced whenever there are consistent blood traces. Otherwise the electrical device does not require replacement except for breakage.
