L’oggetto della presente invenzione è costituito da una composizione cosmetica la quale presenta un’elevata attività idratante ed elasticizzante agendo sulla pelle in maniera favorevole nel ritardarne la senescenza e, nel caso di danni cutanei già instauratisi, nel favorirne il ripristino dell’ elasticità. Detta composizione è costituita da diversi composti, per la maggior parte dei quali è già noto l’utilizzo in campo cosmetico, ma che, nel loro insieme, presentano un favorevole sinergismo di azione che, in particolare, si manifesta in una elevata attività idratante ed elasticizzante della composizione stessa nonché in una sua rimarchevole capacità di penetrazione transcutanea. Esempi di dette piante officinali sono, fra le altre, Centella asiatica, Sylibum marianum, Camellia sinensis, Echinacea purpurea ed Echinacea angustifolia, Simmondsia chinensis, Elettaria cardamomum, Kigelia africana. Di particolare interesse sono le composizioni che contengono estratti di entrambe le piante officinali Kigelia africana ed Elettaria cardamomum. La quantità totale di estratto contenuta nella composizione può variare dal 1,0 al 6,5 % in peso, preferibilmente dal 1,3 al 3,5 % in peso rispetto al peso della composizione.
