The present invention relates to an additive composition with integrated action.

The present invention is part of the technical sector of additives for washing in washing machines, i.e. of those products which are substantially washing aids that integrate the use of detergents, with a specific function, different from the detergent function of the detergent: examples of these additives are stain removers, softeners, color savers, whiteners, descalers, antibacterials, bleaches, perfumers, etc. etc..

In fact, additive products are known and widely marketed which must be used in addition to the detergent and which can perform different types of functions.

These additive products are added according to their characteristics and their function at different moments / phases of the garment washing process in the washing machine.

Certain additives are added in the pre-wash or wash phase, as is the case, for example, with stain remover, bleach, anti-limescale, antibacterial additives, while other additive products are added in the very last washing phase, i.e. in the last rinse: this is the case softeners and in some cases also antibacterials.

As previously highlighted, the different time of addition of the additive product is a function of its chemical-physical characteristics and its function: it is in fact evident that a softening additive must be added in the final washing phase to prevent the desired effect, softening and perfuming, is lost or minimized due to subsequent rinsing of the head. More precisely, a softener acts in the following way: the molecules of the softening product bind to the fibers of the fabrics, creating a thin patina and the final effect will be a greater softness of the garment, also combined with any fragrance and, again thanks to the composition of the softening product and reducing friction between the fibers, this additive will also make ironing the garment easier and easier.

The use of the softening product also reduces the static electricity of freshly washed garments.

Therefore, softeners are essentially washing aids that integrate the use of detergents. Historically, the composition of softeners involves the use of quaternary ammonium compounds with one or more fat chains. Examples of softening additives used in the past are DSDMAC (Distearildimethylammonium chloride), DHTDMAC (di hydrogenated tallow dimethylammonium chloride). Today, the composition of all the main softeners on the market includes esterquat as an essential component (inci definition: Distearoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate): these are positively charged softening molecules, obtained by esterification of ethoxylated quaternized amines with long-chain fatty acids. The other components are almost always additives, perfumes, thickeners or pearls, dyes, etc.

It is equally clear that the time of use of a stain remover additive, always intended as a washing aid that integrates the use of detergents, is substantially different from the time of use of the softening additive described above.

In fact, the stain remover additive is generally used by applying it directly on the garment and precisely on the stain to be treated, before washing, or it is generally added as an additive in the pre-wash or washing phase in the washing cycle of the washing machine.

The composition of liquid stain remover additives is generally based on a suitable mixture of non-ionic, anionic, amphoteric, amine oxide, enzymes or hydrogen peroxide or other oxidizing agents, such as sodium hypochlorite (the latter to be used only on garments whites).

In order to facilitate the task of the end user, various so-called "multifunction" or integrated action products have been put on the market in recent years, i.e. products characterized by simultaneously carrying out two or more functions among those listed above: they are on the market in fact color-saving and descaling additives, stain removers and bleaches, softeners and optical brighteners, etc. etc. in addition to the "obvious" softening and perfuming additive.

The realization of such "multifunction" compositions or additives is not as simple and banal as it might seem to the eye of the simple user. In fact, the skilled in the art knows very well the difficulties encountered in the realization of such additives as the ingredients that are used for one function are often in conflict with those that perform other functions and their combination can lead to a partial / total inactivity of the final product in one or more of the desired functions.

Furthermore, it is clear that the realization of an efficient "multifunction" additive has a further fundamental basic requirement: not only the chemical-physical characteristics of the various components must be such as to allow the stability and functioning of the final additive for each desired function, but the functions of the "multifunction" additive must also be simultaneous, ie it must be functions that take place in the same washing phases. In fact, the multifunctional additives currently on the market are just additive products that combine two or more functions of additives that previously, individually, were added separately in the same washing phase of the garment.

Multifunctional additives that combine the softening action to be carried out in the last rinse with the stain remover or bleach action (for example) are neither known nor marketed, actions which by their very nature take place in different washing phases (pre-wash or actual washing): these additives with a stain remover or bleaching action would have no effect if added in the last rinse phase. Furthermore, based on the compositional characteristics of the softening additives which, as indicated above, have esterquat as their basic ingredient, it seems impossible to coexist with the stain remover / cleaning components of the stain remover additive which would completely inactivate the softening action of the softener additive. based on esterquat.

The Applicant has now surprisingly found a liquid additive composition with integrated action, which overcomes the drawbacks of the state of the art.

The main purpose of the present invention is therefore to identify a liquid additive composition with integrated action, which can simultaneously perform the softening and cleaning / stain remover functions.

A further purpose of the present invention is also to identify a liquid additive composition with integrated action, which can simultaneously perform the softening and cleaning / stain remover function when added in the last rinse of the washing cycle of the washing machine, i.e. when added to the drawer / space of the fabric softener.

The object of the present invention is therefore a liquid additive composition with integrated action, said composition being characterized by comprising

i) a cleaning / stain remover component consisting of:

a) at least one non-ionic surfactant;

b) at least one performance booster; And

c) at least one anionic surfactant;

ii) a softening component selected from quaternary silicones, modified amino silicones and guar gum or its derivatives and related mixtures;

iii) a sensory component comprising perfuming microcapsules and perfuming oil;

iv) an acid with pK lower than 6 as pH regulator and buffer, e

v) water.

Preferably the integrated action liquid additive composition has a pH lower than 6.

The cleaning / stain remover component (i) of the integrated action liquid additive composition, according to the present invention, preferably consists of:

a) a non-ionic surfactant which is an ethoxylated C10-C16 alcohol in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action, preferably in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight ;

b) a performance booster selected from an alkoxylated polyethyleneneimine or an alkyl- (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl ammonium chloride and related mixtures in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action;

c) an anionic surfactant which is sodium laureth sulfate (LES) in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action, preferably in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight ;

where the maximum total quantity of active components a) b) and c) is equal to 15% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action.

Even more preferably, the cleaning / stain remover component provides, as a performance booster, a mixture of alkoxylated polyethylenenimine and alkyl- (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl ammonium chloride in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight, even more preferably in an amount equal to 2.5% by weight.

Preferably, the cleaning / stain remover component can comprise an anionic surfactant in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight and a non-ionic surfactant in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight.

The "performance booster" ensures the cleaning / stain removal action with a reduced percentage of active ingredients in the composition, maximizing the effectiveness of said surfactants.

Preferably, the effective weight ratio between the performance booster b) and the anionic surfactant c) is higher than 1: 1 and preferably equal to 5: 1.

The cleaning / stain remover component (i) of the integrated action liquid additive composition according to the present invention therefore consists of ethoxylated C10-C16 alcohol; a mixture of alkoxylated polyethyleneimine and an aqueous solution of C12- and C14- alkyl (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl chlorides; and sodium laureth sulfate.

The softening component (ii) of the integrated action liquid additive composition according to the present invention, selected from quaternary silicones, amino modified silicones and guar gum or its derivatives and related mixtures, consists of a mixture of at least two components of quaternary silicones, amino silicones modified and guar gum or its derivatives, is preferably a mixture of diquaternary polydimethyldisiloxane, modified amino polysiloxane and modified cationic guar gum, where each of said components that make up the softening component is present in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 10% in weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action.

Esterquat is completely absent, which as previously analyzed is the component at the base of all the main softeners on the market.

The sensory component (iii) of the integrated action liquid additive composition according to the present invention preferably consists of a suspension of perfume microcapsules and perfuming oil. A part of the sensory component is present in an encapsulated form to allow a longer duration of the fragrance: in fact the perfume capsules are fixed on the fabric and the fragrance remains over time on the dry garment.

The composition according to the present invention, to stabilize the sensory component, can also comprise a cellulose derivative or an acrylamide-based cationic polymer and related mixtures, preferably a mixture of a cellulose derivative such as carboxymethyl cellulose or methyl hydroxypropyl cellulose, even more preferably methyl-hydroxypropyl-cellulose as a viscosifying agent and an acrylamide polymer as a suspending agent, where both the viscosifying agent and the suspending agent are present in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action .

The sensory component (iii) of the integrated action liquid additive composition according to the present invention may also comprise a dye and an opacifying agent which affect the aesthetic characteristics of the final product and fall within this sensory component, comprising all the so-called sensory ingredients .

The presence as component (iv) of an acid with pK lower than 6, as pH regulator and buffer, preferably of citric acid, allows to adjust the pH of the additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention: the pH is in fact lower than 6, preferably less than 5, even more preferably less than 3.5.

The liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention may also comprise, as minority components, dyes and / or preservatives and / or disinfectant and / or antifoam agents and / or stabilizers and / or enzymes, selected from those commonly known to the skilled person of the branch.

The integrated action liquid additive composition according to the present invention preferably comprises:

(i) the cleaning / stain remover component, in an amount ranging from 0.4 to 10% by weight, preferably ranging from 3 to 7% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition;

ii) the softening component, in an amount ranging from 0.3 to 10% by weight, preferably from 0.6 to 0.8% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition;

iii) the sensory component comprises perfuming microcapsules, in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 5% by weight, preferably ranging from 0.5 to 1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition and perfuming oil, in a quantity which varies from 0.1 to 10% by weight, and preferably from 0.5 to 3% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition;

iv) an acid with pK lower than 6 as pH regulator and buffer, in an amount ranging from 0.01% to 0.5% by weight, preferably ranging from 0.25% to 0.45% by weight with respect to total weight of the additive composition;

v) water complement to 100.

A preferred liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention comprises: i) the cleaning / stain remover component consisting of:

a) ethoxylated C10-C16 alcohol in an amount equal to 1% by weight, as a non-ionic surfactant; b) a mixture of alkoxylated polyethyleneimine in an amount equal to 1.5% by weight and an aqueous solution of C12- and C14- alkyl (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl chlorides in an amount equal to 1% by weight, as performance boosters ;

c) sodium laureth sulfate in an amount equal to 0.5% by weight, as anionic surfactant;

ii) the softening component consists of a mixture of diquaternary polydimethyldisiloxane in an amount equal to 0.35% by weight, of modified amino polysiloxane in an amount equal to 0.4% by weight and of modified cationic guar gum in an amount equal to 0.15% by weight;

iii) a sensory component comprising perfuming oil in an amount equal to 0.45% by weight, perfuming microcapsules in an amount equal to 0.12% by weight, coloring agent in an amount equal to 0.001% by weight and an opacifying agent, preferably an acrylic / styrene copolymer, in an amount equal to 0.1% by weight;

iv) citric acid in an amount equal to 0.35% by weight, as a pH regulator;

v) water complement to 100,

vi) polydimethylsiloxane in an amount equal to 0.01% by weight, as an anti-foaming agent; a preservative agent, preferably a mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazole-3-one, of 2-methyl-2H-isothiazole-3-one such as for example Preventol D7 in an amount equal to 0.05 wt%, as a preservative, antimicrobial agent; a mixture of methylhydroxypropylcellulose in an amount equal to 0.3% by weight as a viscosifying agent and of an acrylamide-based cationic polymer in an amount ranging from 0.2 to 0.8% by weight, as suspending agent;

and having a pH of about 3.0.

The liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention described above has the great and surprising advantage of combining in a single additive both the softening / perfuming function and the cleaning / stain remover function, a combination that was previously considered impossible, both for reasons incompatibility of the ingredients that perform the individual functions in the known "single" additives, and for operating times in the washing cycle which are completely different for the different additives. In fact, a cleaning / stain remover additive according to the state of the art necessarily requires washing times, temperatures and dilutions that are completely different from the times, temperatures and dilutions in which a softening / perfuming additive that is added in the last rinse of the entire cycle operates. washing.

In fact, it was absolutely unexpected and surprising that the additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention, when added in the last rinse, is able to perform its own cleaning / stain remover function, that is, it is actually able to guarantee an action cleaning in these conditions of times, temperatures and dilutions, without canceling the softening / perfuming action at the same time.

A further object of the present invention is the use of said liquid additive composition with integrated action, as a softening, perfuming, cleaning and / or stain remover agent, by adding the additive composition in the final phase of washing one or more items and, more precisely, by adding in the last rinse phase. Preferably, this addition is carried out by inserting the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention in the drawer / space of the washing machine usually used to insert softening additives, that is, those additives recalled by the washing machine in the last rinse phase.

A further object of the present invention is also the process for the preparation of the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention, which requires a precise and specific succession of phases, carried out in the exact order described and claimed below.

The process for obtaining an integrated action liquid additive composition according to the present invention comprises the following operating steps in the order indicated:

a) dissolve in water, under stirring and until completely dissolved, any preservative components and the sensory component;

b) then add, in succession and waiting for complete dissolution, the performance boosters, the anionic surfactant and an acid with pK lower than 6; c) pre-mix the powder components separately, in the absence of water, i.e. the non-ionic surfactant, any powdered perfume, the modified guar gum softener component and / or its derivatives, any viscosifying agent such as cellulose and / or its derivatives; and adding this pre-mixed, kept under strong stirring, to the solution resulting from step b), until complete dissolution; d) pre-mixing an optional anti-foaming agent and the amino-modified polysiloxane softening component separately, in the presence of water, and adding this pre-mixed to the solution resulting from step c), until complete dissolution; e) then add, in succession and waiting for complete dissolution, the softening component comprising quaternary silicones and any dyes;

f) separately pre-mixing an optional opacifying agent which is a styrene / acrylic copolymer, and water and adding this pre-mixed, to the solution resulting from step e), until complete dissolution; g) then add, in succession and until completely dissolved, any suspending and viscosifying agents and water up to a complement of 100.

It is very important for obtaining a stable and efficient combined action liquid additive composition that the ingredients are added in the order indicated and that each subsequent component or pre-mixed is added only once all the other components are perfectly dissolved. .

In particular, the perfume microcapsules must be added in the first phase of the process and directly into the water to improve its suspension, dispersion and consequent stability. The order of addition of the surfactants is also important and must be the one reported above in order to obtain maximum homogeneity and to facilitate their entry into the formulation. Citric acid must be added in step b) above, because if added later it favors the browning of the bulk.

In fact, the addition of citric acid before the perfume prevents color change, increasing stability and facilitates the entry of cationic Guar gum.

Phase c) of pre-mixing of the powders, in the absence of water, with perfume and non-ionic surfactant is essential in order to insert the powders themselves in the formulation in a homogeneous way. The powders, in fact, in direct contact with water, would form lumps that are very difficult to dissolve.

The formation of the subsequent pre-mixed of step d) also allows to start dispersing the amino-modified polysiloxane softener component in water (about 1% by weight) and to improve the homogeneity of dispersion of the same in the final additive composition.

The suspending agent must be added in the final phase, because having both a suspending effect and a viscosifying effect, if added in the previous phases, it would make complex the homogeneous distribution of all the other raw materials added subsequently. The water to make up to volume is added at the end of the process to ensure that there are no suspending agent residues that are not perfectly dispersed.

In addition to the previously highlighted advantages, a fundamental advantage of the additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention is represented by the fact that it is able, thanks to the particular combination of components that

perfuming the dry garment, creating a

further cleaning action in the final phase

as the following examples will demonstrate, with use

of an extremely small amount of surfactants

The perfume used in the present example is Lavander Bloost 01 by Givaudan, but it can be replaced with any other perfume suitable for the purpose.

The dye used in a percentage equal to 0.001% is a mixture of 50% by weight of Liquitint blue hp and Liquitint pink fb, which can in any case be replaced with any other dye suitable for the purpose.

The following tests were then carried out to demonstrate the softening and cleaning action of the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the formulation shown in Table 1.

As for the stability over time, the liquid additive composition shown in Table 1 remains stable up to 3 months of storage test.

The storage test was conducted by storing the product in the final packaging, in an oven, at a controlled temperature of 4 ° C, 20 ° C and 40 ° C respectively, and every month an evaluation of the product was carried out in terms of color variation, of the scent and visual appearance in general.

The composition according to the present invention has kept its organoleptic characteristics substantially unchanged, in line with expectations (i.e. absent or in any case acceptable variations Vs. the standard). The reference / standard sample is the same composition stored at a constant temperature of 4 ° C).

An efficacy test and a softness test were therefore also conducted.

The efficacy test or cleaning performance test was conducted using the commercial product "Omino Bianco Additivo Gel" as the comparison product.

It was found that the test with the Omino Bianco detergent liquid composition of Table 1 in the softener drawer (B) showed the best effectiveness in terms of stain removal.

The purpose of the softness evaluation test is to evaluate the softness profile of the liquid composition of Table 1 with integrated action, using a Fabuloso® softening product marketed by Colgate as a comparison product.

The softness assessment test was conducted on a sample of 50 women with the following characteristics: 50% women between the ages of 25 and 40 and 50% women between the ages of 41 and 61, all class medium / high social level, 100% responsible for the purchases and cleaning of their own housing unit, 100% users of fabric softeners, 100% users or not opposed to liquid / gel additives for laundry.

The test is conducted on two washed towels by inserting the two different products being compared in the softener drawer and asking the sample of women to put the two towels in order of softness The results are shown in Figure 2 and are expressed as the sum of the result attributed by consumers to the softness of the towels washed with each product (B is the product according to the present invention, while D is the comparison).

The softness profile of the liquid composition of Table 1 with integrated action was substantially comparable with the softness profile of the commercial product Fabuloso® (the difference is not statistically significant).

Claims (11)

CLAIMS 1. Liquid additive composition with integrated action, said composition being characterized by comprising i) a cleaning / stain remover component consisting of: a) at least one non-ionic surfactant; b) at least one performance booster; And c) at least one anionic surfactant; ii) a softening component selected from quaternary silicones, modified amino silicones and guar gum or its derivatives and related mixtures; iii) a sensory component comprising perfuming microcapsules and perfuming oil; iv) an acid with pK lower than 6 as pH regulator and buffer, preferably citric acid, e v) water. 2. Additive composition according to one or more of the preceding claims which comprises: (i) the cleaning / stain remover component, in an amount ranging from 0.4 to 10% by weight, preferably ranging from 3 to 7% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition; ii) the softening component, in an amount ranging from 0.3 to 10% by weight, preferably from 0.6 to 0.8% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition; iii) the sensory component comprises perfuming microcapsules, in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 5% by weight, preferably ranging from 0.5 to 1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition and perfuming oil, in a quantity which varies from 0.1 to 10% by weight, and preferably from 0.5 to 3% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition; iv) an acid with pK lower than 6 as pH regulator and buffer, in an amount ranging from 0.01% to 0.5% by weight, preferably ranging from 0.25% to 0.45% by weight with respect to total weight of the additive composition; v) water complement to 100. 10. Use of an integrated action liquid additive composition according to one or more of claims 1 to 9, as a softening, perfuming, cleaning and / or stain remover agent, by adding the additive composition in the final step of washing one or more garments and , more precisely, by adding it in the last rinse phase. 11. Process for the preparation of the integrated action liquid additive composition according to one or more of claims 1 to 9, comprising the following operating steps in the order indicated: a) dissolve in water, under stirring and until completely dissolved, any preservative components and the sensory component; b) then add, in succession and waiting for complete dissolution, the performance boosters, the anionic surfactant and an acid with pK lower than 6; c) pre-mix the powder components separately, in the absence of water, i.e. the non-ionic surfactant, any powdered perfume, the modified guar gum softener component and / or its derivatives, any viscosifying agent such as cellulose and / or its derivatives; and adding this pre-mixed, kept under strong stirring, to the solution resulting from step b), until complete dissolution; d) pre-mixing an optional anti-foaming agent and the amino-modified polysiloxane softening component separately, in the presence of water, and adding this pre-mixed to the solution resulting from step c), until complete dissolution; e) then add, in succession and waiting for complete dissolution, the softening component comprising quaternary silicones and any dyes; f) separately pre-mixing an optional opacifying agent which is a styrene / acrylic copolymer, and water and adding this pre-mixed, to the solution resulting from step e), until complete dissolution; g) then add, in succession and until completely dissolved, any suspending and viscosifying agents and water up to a complement of 100.
