Abstract

A herbal sachet comprises a water-permeable sachet including a blend of herbs in an amount effective to improve the condition of a human's body including skin, hair and feet. In one embodiment, namely for improving the condition of the facial skin, when the sachet is brought into contact with hot water, the contents of the sachet absorb the water and the steam rising from the water contacts the facial skin. Alternatively, the wetted sachet can be applied to the eyes, the sachet can be used in a bath or foot bath or water infused by the contents of the sachet can be used as a hair conditioning rinse. Various suitable blends of herbs are described, sometimes including chamomile, eyebright, lavender, lemon or rosemary among others.

Description

The present invention relates to herbal sachets and particularly herbal sachets fox’ use as eye compresses and v facial steamers.

Certain herbs are known to have the beneficial effects of soothing and refreshing the skin and/or eyes. Herbal extracts are included in low concentrations in creams, lotions and gels for cosmetic purposes. However, such compositions do not include a blend of the herbs themselves.

The present invention seeks to provide sachets of herbal blends for use in improving the facial appearance and having a soothing therapeutic effect on tired eyes.

The present invention provides a herbal sachet comprising a water-permeable sachet including a blend of herbs in an amount effective to improve the facial appearance when the sachet is brought into contact with hot water, contents of the sachet have absorbed the water and steam from the water contacts the facial skin.

The facial appearance is improved when steam rising from a bowl containing a herbal sachet in accordance with the invention, onto which hot water has been poured, contacts the facial skin and cleanses the pores of the skin leaving it refreshed and having a healthy appearance.

If'‘I-n^an^ alternative embodiment, the present invention also provides,, a herbal sachet comprising a water-permeable sachet including a blend of herbs in an amount effective to result in‘a therapeutic, soothing effect on tired and/or sore eye(s) when contents of the herbal sachet have absorbed water and the sachet is placed over the eye(s).

Advantageously, one or more essential oil(s) may foe 5 included in the herbal sachets of the invention.

The invention will now be described more particularly with reference to the following Examples which described by way of example only, four embodiments of the present invention.

Example 1 : Eye compress herbal sachet The herbal sachet of this embodiment of the invention comprises a blend of herbs and essential oil weight per sachet 2.25g Chamomile Flower 0.25g Eyebright 0.002g Essential Oil of Lemon The herbs and essential oil are weighed out in the appropriate amounts and blended together. The blend is transferred to a water-permeable sachet and the sachet is heat sealed.

To use the eye compress herbal sachets, two sachets are placed on a saucer and two tablespoons of boiling water are poured onto them and the sachets are allowed to sit in the Λ 30 water for five to ten minutes until they have absorbed the water and have cooled. The excess water is gently squeezed -¾ out and a sachet is placed over each of a user’s closed eyes while the user relaxes for ten to fifteen minutes.

The herbal blend has the effect of soothing the eyes.

Example_2 - Alternative embodiment of the eye comoreas herbal sachet h Weight per sachet G.25g. Chamomile 1g Eyebright I 1,25g Fennel The sachets are used in the same manner as described in Example 1.

Example 3 - Alternative embodiment of the herbal sachet of the invention Facial steamer herbal .sachet The herbs and essential oil are weighed out in the appropriate amounts and blended together. The blend is transferred to a water-permeable sachet and the sachet is heat sealed.

Weight per'sachet 0.41g Lemon Balm 0.59g Lavender 1g Lemon Peel O.OOOSg Essential Oil of Lavender To use the sachet to best advantage, the user firstly cleanses his face. A sachet is then placed in a bowl and approximately 1/2 litre of boiling water poured over it.

The user leans over the bowl with a towel over his head, while ensuring that he does not come into contact with the boiling water. The steam rising from the bowl opens the pores of the user's skin allowing the full benefits of the herbs to penetrate and deep cleanse the skin. After 10 to minutes the user5 s skin is cleansed and feels fresh and glowing.

Example 4 Herbal facial steamer - Alternative embodiment of facial steamer herbal sachet Weight .per sachet 0,73g Rosemary 0.43g Lemon Balm 1 .04g Lemon Peel 0.3g Dandelion Root The sachet is used in the same manner as described in Example 3.

It will of course be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details described herein, which are given by way of example only, and that various modifications and alterations are possible within the scope of the invention.

Claims (5)

1. A herbal sachet comprising a water-permeable sachet 5 including a blend of herbs in an amount effective to improve the condition of a human's facial skin whereby when the sachet is brought into contact with hot water, contents of the sachet absorb the water and steam rising from the water contacts the facial skin resulting in an improvement IQ of skin's condition.

2. A herbal sachet comprising a water-permeable sachet including a blend of herbs in an amount effective to result in a therapeutic, soothing effect on tired and/or sore •j 5 human eye (s) when contents of the herbal sachet have absorbed water and the sachet is placed over the eye(s).

3. A herbal sachet as claimed in claim 2 which includes at least one of the following: 0.25g to 2.25g Chamomile and 0.25g to 1g of Eyebright

4. A herbal sachet as claimed in any one of the preceding 25 claims, wherein one or more essential oil(s) are included in the herbal sachets.

5. A herbal sachet substantially in accordance with any of the embodiments herein described in the Examples.
