Jedan od najvećih problema u sadašnjem stanju tehnike prijenosnih elektroničkih uređaja (mobilnih telefona, prijenosnih računala/laptopa i sl.) je prikaz informacija na displeju/ekranu dovoljne veličine da korisnik može vidjeti prikazane informacije na dovoljno prihvatljiv način. To znači da se javlja problem u odnosu između veličine displeja/ekrana i veličine prijenosnog uređaja. Obzirom na sadašnje stanje tehnologije prijenosnih uređaja a naročito s obzirom na daljnji razvoj i minijaturizaciju hardware-a koji obrađuje informacije, dolazi do toga da je najveći volumenski dio prijenosnog uređaja upravo displej/ekran. Ako se displej/ekran smanji na veličinu hardware-skog dijela uređaja koji obrađuje informacije, rezultat je tako mali displej/ekran da se na njemu mogu prikazati samo osnovne informacije koje korisnik može vizualno raspoznati. Zbog tog problema dolazi do paradoksa da mali volumenski dio hardware-a prijenosnog elektroničkog uređaja može obraditi veliku količinu informacija ali se javlja problem kod prikazivanja tih informacija na displeju/ekranu. Ako se tom malom hardware-skom dijelu prijenosnog elektroničkog uređaja doda veliki displej/ekran, kako bi se prikazale sve informacije koje se mogu obraditi, dobiva se veliki prijenosni elektronički uređaj a ako se displej/ekran smanji na veličinu hardware-skog dijela elektroničkog uređaja korisnik ima teškoća sa vizualnom veličinom prikazanih informacija. Za korisnike se također javlja problem u mogućnosti pristupa standardnoj veličini slike na Internetu gdje je omjer širine i visine slike 4: 3. Taj omjer određuje i veličinu displeja prijenosnog uređaja ako se želi koristiti sadašnje standardne web stranice na Internetu bez nekih posebnih prerada slike.
