Abstract

A coating is applied to a golf ball core by first covering the core with a material which will cause accelerated curing of the final coating and then coating with a polyurethane prepolymer. The accelerator can be tetraethylene pentamine, ethylene diamine, propylene diamine or a primary-amine containing polyamide applied in such solvents as methanol, ethanol or propanol and the coated core is heated to remove the solvent. The curing agent for the polyurethane is an aromatic polyamine. Specifications 968,987 and 990,784 are referred to.ALSO:A coating is applied to a golf ball core by first covering the core with a material which will cause accelerated curing of the final coating and then coating with a polyurethane prepolymer. The accelerator can be tetraethylene pentamine, ethylene diamine, propylene diamine or a primary amine-containing polyamide applied in such solvents as methanol, ethanol or propanol and the coated core is heated to remove the solvent.
