Abstract

Soap and/or detergent tablets containing 20-86% active matter and which float below 80 DEG C. are produced by kneading, mixing and homogenizing the constituent materials in a closed chamber in the presence of a gas, e.g. air, carbon dioxide, or nitrogen, at a temperature at which the materials are in a semiplastic state, keeping the inlet at 0-50 DEG C. and the inlet gas at 0-100 DEG C. while the pressure is kept at 0-5 atmospheres (gauge), and extruding the product in the form of a continuous bar containing microscopic bubbles of gas. Floating tablets are described which comprise (1) soap; (2) soap, synthetic detergent, stearic acid, germicide, titanium dioxide, glycerol, soda ash and water; and (3) sodium, potassium and triethanolamine lauryl sulphates, "Igepon" (Registered Trade Mark), stearic acid, germicide, titanium dioxide, glycerol, soda ash and water.
