Abstract

974,217. Aerials. WOLSEY ELECTRONICS Ltd. Jan. 4, 1961 [Dec.28,1959], No. 44015/59. Heading H4A. A Band I and Band III television aerial comprises a first two primary elements 7, 8, of equal electrical length arranged end-to-end and connected to one end of a matching stub (e.g. either a short-circuited stub as shown, or an open-circuited stub), a feeder connection intermediate the ends of the stub, and a second two primary elements 10, 11 of a different equal electrical length connected at points intermediate the ends of the stub. The primary elements may be folded dipoles and parasitic elements may be added to produce an array resembling a Fagi array. As described, the elements 10 and 11 are each #/4 long at the lower frequency, whilst the elements 7 and 8 are each #/2 long at the higher frequency, the stub being either a short-circuited #/4 or opencircuited #/2 matching stub at the higher frequency. The feeder cable may be connected at 12, 12, or along the stub to provide appropriate matching.
