956,223. Chance apparatus. WHITTAKER BROS. (AMUSEMENT RIDES) Ltd. Feb. 5, 1963 [Dec. 20, 1962], No. 48253/62. Heading A6H. [Also in Division G4] An unattended roulette wheel, continually put into play at timed intervals, is housed in a casing which provides a number of stations, each with an array of coin slots 3, whereby a participant may place a stake and thereby qualify for prize money which is dispensed at his station should his stake prove successful. The insertion of a coin into a coin slot operates a contact to cause an associated relay to lock up and prepare a circuit to a prize delivery solenoid, which circuit is completed should the roulette ball enter a partition of the wheel particular to the selected coin slot. The ball may complete the circuit by means of operating or bridging contacts in the partition of the wheel. The sequence of events and the amount of prize money dispensed may be controlled by a uniselector but is preferably controlled by cam mounted on a common shaft. A sign is illuminated to call for stake money, the wheel is turned to put the ball into play, and after a time sufficient for the ball to settle, a relay is energized to connect up the contacts of the wheel connected by the ball. Depending on which contacts are connected on the wheel the cams then selectively dispense two, three, or four coins as prize money to as many stations as record the deposit of a winning stake. Each coin slot has two lamps; one to mark the slot in which a stake has been placed and the other to indicate the slot which qualifies for prize money. Prize money is dispensed from coin tubes filled with the received stake money which is raised on an endless band elevator to reach the top of the tubes. When the tubes are full the money overflows into a cash box.
