Abstract

952,763. Fish feeding appliances. A. I. APPLETON. March 30, 1961, No. 11853/61. Heading A1M. An automatic feeder particularly for use with an aquarium comprises a support plate 22 on which is mounted a timer 24 which drives a feed carrier 25 formed with feed pockets 32 and having a central chamber provided with abutments 41. The timer 24 is provided with a speed reduction unit 34 having an output shaft 35 to which is attached an arm 38 which is deflected by means of a cam 40 into driving engagement with one of the abutments 41 thereby rotating the carrier until the discharging feed pocket 32 has been brought into full register with a discharge aperture 26 in the support plate overlying the aquarium. At this position the arm 38 becomes disengaged from the cam and abutment 41, leaving the arm 38 disengaged from the carrier until the arm has completed a further revolution. To fill the feeder a cover 44 may be removed or the carrier may be indexed manually to bring each pocket 32 into register with a filling aperture in the cover.
