Abstract

950,579. Telephone exchange equipment. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. March 6, 1962 [March 7, 1961], No. 8523/62. Heading H1L. [Also in Division H4] In a partially equipped exchange the full number of trunks are provided between successive switching stages A, B and are connected between outlet and inlet terminals according to the ultimate pattern of the trunking arrangement, jumpering between terminals being employed to interconnect the switching units that are actually provided. As shown, the switching units have 8 inlets and 4 outlets. If there are an odd number of units in stage A, as in Fig. 3, 4 of the trunks may by-pass stage B in order to avoid a half-used unit in that stage.
