Abstract

950,379. Carrying conductors through partitions. LAURENCE, SCOTT & ELECTROMOTORS Ltd. Jan. 1, 1963 [Feb. 23, 1962], No. 7150/62. Heading H2E. Conductors passing through an aperture in the side wall 7, Fig. 2, of a flame-proof chamber, are carried in a cylindrical, insulating block 5 of thermosetting resin material, the block enclosing bare portions 3 of the conductors and also portions 1 covered by insulating sheaths 2, to ensure a good seal. An insulating disc 4 is used to hold the conductors spaced apart, before the casting process. The block 5 is received by the bore 9 of a boss 8 in the side wall 7 of the chamber, and has ends of slightly reduced diameter providing shoulders 6 which bear against abutments 11, the other shoulders 6 bearing against an annular cover-plate 12 which is screwed on to the end of the boss 8, securing the block in position.
