Abstract

947,385. Spring clips. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Jan. 27, 1961 [Feb. 11, 1960], No. 4909/60. Addition to 880,263. Heading E2B. A fastener in the form of a single strip of resilient material bent so as to have a body 11 and a substantially Z- shaped head 12 comprises a web 12B and two flanges 12A, 12C, the web being inclined at a small angle to the direction which is perpendicular to the general direction of the body, the flanges 12C being joined to the body and the other flange 12A having one end free and forming with the web an apex 12D, the covex side of which is directed towards the body, the flange 12C being of greater width than that part of the body to which it is joined and a portion of the flange being bent in a direction away from the head to form a shoulder which is spaced longitudinally of the body from the apex and there being sheared and bent from the body a prong the free end of which is directed towards the head. As shown there are two shoulder forming portions 13, 14 and two prongs 15, 16. The fastener is used for securing two panels together at right angles the body being inserted into a slot in one of the panels where it is retained by the prongs 15, 16 and with the shoulder forming portions engaging the edge of the panel and with the other panel retained by the head against the edge of the first panel.
