Abstract
946,003. Electromagnets. ROYAL ELECTRIC Inc. Aug. 25, 1961, No. 30670/61. Heading H1P. A pivoted core solenoid comprises an electromagnetic coil 26, a stator 22 of magnetic material having at least two arms, embracing the coil 26, and an armature of magnetic material 20 having two arms, one shorter than the other. The armature 20 is pivoted to one arm of the stator so that the longer arm 29 is positioned for entry into the coil, and has a free end extending beyond the longer arm to engage the other stator arm to complete a path for the electromagnetic flux. The longer arm 29 of the armature is provided with an arcuate recess, and is arranged to move into an opening in the coil former.
