A security device comprises an electrical contact carrier of insulating material having holes with spaced fixed contacts housed at different levels therein, and coupling means including a set of contacts movable relatively to the carrier so that the movable contacts engage some of the fixed contacts to complete one or more circuits. In one embodiment (Fig. 1) the movable contacts 26 carried by members 23, 24 are inserted through holes 2 in an insulating block and engage the fixed contacts 6 arranged in slots in the block which communicate with the holes (Fig. 3, not shown) to complete circuits for solenoids 18 e.g., for magnetic looking of doors, lift control or alarm purposes. In further embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5) a cylinder lock is provided with earthed fingers 41 moved by a key 39 to push conducting plungers 36, which move members 33, 33a some of which carry surface band contacts 58, just out of the cylinder 31 to allow it to turn. At the same time the contacts on the members 33a connect fixed contacts such as 53a to the earthed fingers 41 to energize a latch mechanism (Fig. 7, not shown) or other apparatus. Attempts to pick the lock could result in the completion of an alarm circuit connecting contacts such as 53b to energize the alarm system. In a modification (Fig. 8, not shown), a similar mechanism of rectangular section has its plug and block portions freed for separation by lever action of a key.
