A device for dispensing measured quantities of liquid, particularly of disinfectant to a water closet, comprises a hollow plunger 4 closed at the ends by washers 5, 6 and having an inlet port 7 and a pair of out let ports 8 so that in a raised position the plunger fills with disinfectant and discharges when it falls to a lowered position. The plunger may be operated by a float 9 which falls when the cistern discharges or by a lever having a flange on which the liquid flow impinges so that the plunger moves up to filling position during flushing and falls again when flushing has been completed.
