916,364. Granulating machines. BAZAN, C. A. A., and CALLET, G. P. May 25, 1961, No. 19023/61. Class 87(2). A machine for granulating a filament on strip of thermoplastic material 4 includes a worm 16 having threads 21 and adapted to rotate in a fixed, semi-cylindrical cage 14 provided with at least one aperture 15 through which the filament 4 may be guided to be cut between the thread 21 and the edge of the aperture 15. Filaments 4 are continuously extruded through nozzles 3 and are individually guided in circumferential grooves 10 on a rotary cooling drum 5 and further by guides 13 to the apertures 15 for cutting into granules which are received in a tank 20. In another embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown) the extruded filaments are carried on an endless belt through a cooling tank prior to being granulated.
