Abstract
898,153. Labelling machines. WEISS MASCHINENFABRIK UND APPARATEBAU G.m.b.H., JOHANN. Oct. 17, 1960 [March 3, 1960], No. 35498/60. Class 73 Relates to the labelling of upright-standing articles, such as bottles, which are fed on a conveyer to a rotatable suction drum which applies the labels. The bottles 5; Figs. 4, 6, are pressed against the labels 7 on the label carrier surfaces 13 of the drum 2 by pairs of spring- urged rollers 8 carried on a rotary support 4 and opening into the carrier surfaces 13 are radial guide channels 15 in which are located slidable spring-urged inserts 14 which permit entry of part of the periphery of the bottle 5 into the periphery of the drum 2. The label 7 is thus gripped by an edge 3 at the mouth of the channel 15 against the periphery of the bottle, and at the moment of transfer the suction applied through orificies 33, 34 at the edges of the surface 13 is terminated and replaced by compressed air which blows the label on the bottle. The label may also be brushed on by a revolving brush (not shown). For the application of breast labels the inserts 14 are provided with flaps 30 pivoted on pins 28 and under the action of springs 37 tending to pull the flaps radially inward.
