Abstract

898,004. Diamond drill bits. IMPREGNATED DIAMOND PRODUCTS Ltd. June 3, 1959 [June 6, 1958], No. 18214/58. Class 124. A drill bit having a head with a diamond impregnated cutting surface is provided with an axially inclined eccentric bore, part of the surface of which is surfaced with an abrasive. As shown, the head 1 has a cutting surface 3 and an axially inclined, eccentric bore 6 preferably of oval section which opens into a diametral slot extending over the sides of the head as a groove 5. A rectangular section lubricant passage 10 communicates with the slot and a second passage 11, in open communication with the bore may be provided. A part 9 of the surface of the bore may be impregnated with diamonds, and the angle of inclination of the bore may be such that the ends 7, 8 of the bore do not completely overlap.
